This home was comfortable and clean. It has plenty of historic charm and reminded me of my grandmother's house. Downtown Elk Rapids is very quiet and scenic, so this makes for a great relaxing getaway.
We had a very pleasant stay in Elk Rapids. We were 1/2 block from the center of town, a few blocks from the beach and marina. We enjoyed the beaches, restaurants, shopping and entertainment without getting in our car! Janet was wonderful, friendly and answered all of our questions. We had to call once for a leaky toilet, she got right back to us and it was fixed right away.
The home was very clean, well equipped kitchen was wonderful as was the grill in the yard. The only drawback could be the room air conditioners. Definitely not enough to cool the entire house but one more in the front bedroom window or a big fan is all it would take to remedy that. The temps didn't get much above 80 during our stay and the wooded lot does a lot to keep the home cool and comfortable.
I first arrived in Elk Rapids to meet with the owner at the rental house. My first thought of the house from the outside was a very beautiful colonial. As I walked in the house it was just as pictured. Janet showed me around the house and was very helpful with any questions I had. I could tell that that house was well maintained and loved. Janet was extremely nice and super helpful on everything. She also told me about many places to eat as well as things that were going on in town. Throughout my stay I came to the realization that everything in the description given on this website was 100 percent accurate. It is close to everything in this small town. It is spacious and comfortable, perfect for families on vacation. I plan to rent this house for years to come!
Recently vacationed in Elk Rapids with my family and friends at this great house I hae been renting with vrbo for yrs and have not been disappointed yet. This house was just as described on vrbo and we thoroughly enjoyed our time there , great in town location, everything was supplied we love to cook and the kitchen was well supplied as well as use of outdoor grill. My teenagers had friends visit and I was completely comfortable with them walking in and around town and beaches. Nice backyard we ate almost every meal out there. The house provided plenty of space to spread out even when guests came up to visit. We found the house clean and neat. It was a great week for this family thanks again Janet for sharing your home with us. I would easily recommend this house esp to anyone who wants to be near the water and in town.
I have been renting in Elk Rapids for 16 years and this was the first time I was disappointed. There was no central air, two window air conditioners (that were not sufficient to cool the home) and windows were difficult to open. No wireless internet as advertised and only a handful of channels, the property was dirty, the kitchen had no doors on several cabinets and very unorganized, lots of clutter and the backyard, where you would want to enjoy the up north, was not well maintained. There was a moldy smell throughout the home. I would not recommend this property to a friend or a relative.
