Mild winters make it ideal for year-round golf with 10 of Utah's best courses are located! The city is the business and cultural center for SW Utah, and is a major gateway to nearby Zion National Park.
We wanted to give you some feedback from our stay. It was by far the most tasteful and well appointed rental we had on our entire trip through the Southwest. The kitchen was well equipped with the exception of a faulty can opener, which we replaced and added a pyrex baking dish as well. We spent a considerable amount of time on the roof deck as soon as the afternoon began to cool off, watching the effects of the lengthening shadows on the high desert landscape as the sun lowered in the western sky and especially after dark when the stars provided another view with an exceptional field of vision. While it was still too warm to comfortably go outside, we enjoyed watching the jackrabbits feasting on the lush green grass in the patio as well as the hummingbirds.
We saw both Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks and drove into St. George and visited the LDS Temple there. We could have easily spent a few more days there and will certainly recommend the "Retreat" to anyone looking for an ideal place to stay, both in terms of comfortable living as well as proximity to the spectacularly beautiful landscape.

We have been renting vacation homes for many years now and this has been one of our best stays. The house is clean and well maintained. It is in a magnificent location, nestled in a private neighborhood with beautiful landscape and panoramic desert views to match. In addition, the property manager (Sarah) was professional, efficient and very responsive in all aspects of the reservation process and answering any questions. We highly recommend this property.
It is a very big ad modern house for up to six people. We were just two but we really likes the house. Sitting in the morning or the early evening on the terrace and overlooking the desert till the Zion Mtns. or watching the rabbits. The house has all amenities. For example a sundeck for the time of the sun in the afternoon. The Sand Hollow State Park is just nearby.
After spending two months at Chaco Retreat, my wife and I would certainly recommend this house to anyone visiting the St. George area. Do you play golf? Chaco Retreat is located in the Sand Hollow Golf Resort. Do you enjoy wildlife? During our stay we had rabbits visiting the backyard every day; a roadrunner paid us a visit a few times; we caught a glimpse of a coyote making his rounds from time to time; we watched the hawks riding the winds; we caught glimpses of coveys of quail scurrying through the sage brush, and enjoyed the sounds of the doves and other desert birds. From the table we enjoyed the beautiful sunrises over the Hurricane Mountains. Do you enjoy the stars? Go up on the roof, stretch out on the recliners, and see the Big Dipper in an almost vertical position on the northern horizon. Do you enjoy 4-wheeling? Sand Hollow has many square miles of sand dunes waiting to be explored. Fishing? You are minutes away from bass fishing in the Sand Hollow or Quail Creek reservoirs. Hiking? We enjoyed the 30-minute drive out to Zion National Park and hiking the various trails. The views of the mountains and the cliffs keep calling us back to hike the Zion Canyon trails again.
Chaco Retreat exceeded our expectations. The place is clean and well stocked with items needed to make you feel at home. The owner and property manager are responsive. Yes… We wholeheartedly recommend Chaco Retreat.
My family and I love to rent from Homeaway. This is by far one of the best places we have ever stayed. The home was immaculate and the location is perfect. My grandchildren loved the Sand Hollow pool. They also enjoyed exploring the desert, which is right off the patio of this lovely home. Sarah was great to work with. We didn't experience any problems, but felt confident she would be there if we needed anything. Thank you for sharing your home. We will not hesitate returning to Hurricane and staying in your home.
From the moment I drove up to the Chaco Retreat I sensed something so completely out of the ordinary...the desert has its own voice! Serenity surrounded me as I walked up to this home which looked as if carved into the landscape. Once inside I found it in keeping with the listing description: artistically designed, immaculate, and filled with everything I could possibly need for my week long stay...and MORE! As I ventured out to do some serious hiking in the incredible parks, it was always such a treat to head back "home", sit on the back patio and just bask in the quiet and gaze at the incredible horizon as the sun drew to a close.
I will most definitely recommend the Chaco Retreat to others, especially writers, artists and musicians... something about this place brings inspiration! Enjoy! I'll be back!
We had the most fabulous time staying at the Chaco Retreat. It was exactly as shown in the pictures. We walked into the house and felt right at home. It is very peaceful and quiet. The views are amazing and we took lots of pictures without having to leave the property. You feel like you are away from it all, yet you are minutes from the stores and downtown Hurricane or St George not to mention all of the glorious parks within a short drive. We brought the rain down from Washington so did not get to the parks as much as we wanted. It didn't matter a bit because we decided we could stay there in the Chaco Retreat for our entire vacation and still be happy. When we heard that downtown Vegas flooded, we knew that we had made the right choice to stay in Hurricane.
The kitchen is stocked with the basics and you are free to use what is there. We used a little and added a little for the next visitors. The house is exceptionally clean and I didn't feel like I needed to wash everything first before using it.
So happy to have spent a week at Chaco that we have recommended the place to many friends. Thank you to Sarah, the manager, and to the owners for sharing this little piece of heaven.
