Overview

5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Convertible bed(s), Sleeps 4

In the lively 5th arrondissement, home to the Sorbonne and Luxembourg Gardens is a wonderful jewel of an apartment that awaits you as your home away from home. A five minute walk brings you to rue Mouffetard, one of the oldest market streets in Paris. Here you will find a wonderful mix of outdoor fresh food stands, food shops and wonderful restaurants.

The apartment is located closest to the Censier/Daubenton metro on line 7 and is within a 10 minute walk from the Port Royal stop on the RER B with direct trains from CDG and Orly Airports (Orly uses a shuttle train to transport passengers to the Antony stop where the RER B is available.)

Nestled on a quiet street, in a quiet interior courtyard, this lovely one bedroom apartment of 42 square meters (450 sq. feet) has all of the conveniences that any traveler could want. One of the first things you notice is how homey and welcoming the owners have made this apartment. That is because, unlike an apartment that has been furnished as a rental unit, the owners of this apartment live here several months a year. They have set it up and furnished it as they would like to live and you as their guests, reap the rewards.

Heated with gas heat, with unlimited hot water, the system’s remote control can be set to give you the perfect temperature for day or night comfort. The thermal insulated double paned windows and door to the garden are designed to help keep the apartment comfortable, no matter what the temperature. Large space saving radiators insure that heat is evenly and efficiently distributed in all rooms, making a visit in colder months as much a pleasure as the warmer months. In fact, with less crowds to deal with, staying here in the late fall and winter is a delightful way to experience a less crowded Paris. And now, in case the summer turns too warm for comfort, we offer a brand new, high-end air conditioner. Quiet and comfortable, this air conditioner allows you to set a comfortable temperature so you are cool inside.

Another wonderful thing about this apartment is its lovely private garden. Hedged all around, the space is a private little oasis in which to enjoy an afternoon drink or a pleasant meal. There is a wooden deck with a resin table which seats four comfortably or a smaller round bistro table for more intimate moments. The French door in the living room leads out to this wonderful added attraction.

A separate bedroom, with a large window looking out on your private garden is sunny and bright. Ample closet space, a comfortable double bed with comfy linens, a flat screen TV with BBC and CNN, a telephone with free calls to 139 countries, including the US, DSL WI-FI internet access, this apartment has it all.

The living room is spacious with a very comfortable double sized sofa bed, a drop leaf table which seats four comfortably, plenty of books to read and guide books to inform, a CD-collection for your listening pleasure, a radio/CD/cassette combination with great sound, an i-Pod speaker dock and a wonderful reading light.

In addition to the sofa, there are two incredibly comfortable Phillipe Starck designed chairs so four people can relax in comfort. The coffee table is on wheels and is very easy to maneuver to allow for the opening of the sofa bed. A dramatic glass and iron display unit contains wonderful pieces of glass and pottery collected by the owners. Everywhere you look is the art work of a home that reflects that someone lives here, not some sterile hotel room,

The recently renovated “American” kitchen has everything one could want to prepare a meal. With all the wonderful markets nearby, we know you’ll be tempted to try your hand at French cooking. But if you don't want to cook there are tons of restaurants nearby and within easy walking distance if the most you want to make is coffee. A breakfast bar and stools allows for easy dining for 2 people.

All brand new appliances welcome you, including an induction stove top, convection oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker and a small toaster/oven. Plentiful pots, pans, casseroles, spices and cooking utensils are available as well.

The windowed bathroom has everything you would expect and more. Two separate heaters (one electric near the shower, the other, working off the gas unit which heats the apartment, near the toilet) are available to insure you are toasty warm when you emerge from the recently renovated and enlarged tiled shower. With a choice of two shower heads and unlimited hot water, this is great way to unwind after a long day of touring.

With small hotel rooms in Paris around 200 euros and the strength of the euro compared to the dollar, this apartment is a marvelous value.

We even offer pick up and drop off to both Paris airports for a reasonable additional charge.

About Amy Schachter

My husband and I are both self employed which has allowed us the freedom to travel as we wish. As long as we have an Internet connection we are good to go. When we are not in Paris, we live in Brooklyn NY in a converted warehouse from 1900. We recently transplanted ourselves from the Upper East Side of Manhattan. My husband has two kids and we have four grandchildren.

Why Amy Schachter chose 5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter

It's Paris - what more is there to say? We owned the apartment for 6 years before deciding to rent and our apartment is filled with art and things we decided not to remove when we decided to rent. Paris is an amazing city - after 15 years of visits, we never tire of her street life, restaurants and architecture.

Mother/daughter Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I were in Paris for just 8 days, and found the apartment and its location exactly suited to our priorities.Everything worked perfectly, including the WIFI; no time was wasted on the logistics of living. We appreciated the quiet comfort, accessible markets, and Amy's unobtrusive friendliness and cooperation. The immediate neighborhood is filled with interest and good food. We are especially indebted to the owners for recommending a dining experience on Rue Broca that we might otherwise have overlooked. We were able to walk everywhere: to the museums, gardens, and churches we most wanted to see, as well as to shops and department stores. As an alternative, we occasionally took the Batobus from the Jardin des Plantes landing, taking in the life of the River en route. The Metro worked well for airport transportation, marred only by our sadness at leaving!

Perfect accommodation in the heart of Paris!

  • 5 of 5

The appartment is very comfortable, homely, perfectly equiped and benefit from an extremely peaceful and quiet building atmosphere. Nights are completely silent, the area is practical, lively, close to all facilities, subway and RER stations as well as walking distance from the highlights of historic Paris. We stayed 4 people for 3 nights and enjoyed our stay very much, partly thanks to the quality of our accommodation. I recommend the place warmly! Cécile (Marseille, France)

Wonderful Paris Experience

  • 5 of 5

The owners were responsive and accommodating. Thorough notes about the flat made it very easy to settle in. The flat was as advertised, clean and organized and everything was in good working order. Tips on local restaurants were amazing with our favorite trip experience being our first meal in Paris, lunch at Prosper et Fortunee upon the owners suggestion.

Great Paris apartment

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was terrific! Great location for either meandering or metro. The owner was very easy to work with making for a totally stress-free experience. We had one of our most memorable meals ever at a tiny neighborhood restaurant she recommended, Prosper et Fortunee. A great shopping street is several blocks away for fruit, cheese, wine etc to enjoy in the outdoor garden. We would definitely return.

Perfect apt for 4, great location, clean, neat.

  • 5 of 5

This was my first time renting an apartment and I was very nervous but Amy the owner has been wonderful. She answered all my questions promptly and supplied a detailed guide of the use of the apartment and the area surrounding. My husband and my two teenage daughters were very impressed. The apartment was very neat and clean and not that far from the metro. Everything is labeled and very easy to manage. We had a fantastic time in Paris regardless of the weather, but I definitely credit Amy for easing my mind and answering all my questions promptly. If we go back to Paris, I would not hesitate to contact Amy and rent the apartment again. Thanks again Amy, you're the best!

Excellent comfortable accommodation

  • 5 of 5

All communications with the owner were answered promptly and Amy gave us all the information we could have wished for. The apartment was perfect for our stay. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped with kitchen needs and even umbrellas which came in handy. Decor was interesting with a collection of artistic pieces and modern furniture. Wifi and use of VOIP phone was important to us. There was an amazing collection of maps and guidebooks on Paris and as we browsed through them each night we almost forgot we were in someone else's place as we felt so comfortable and at home. Shower was spacious with room to dry off too and the outdoor area was perfect for winding down at the end of each day. The area is surprisingly quiet considering it is closeby to major streets. Rue Mouffetard was just around the corner and great for food shopping. Port Royal station was about 15 mins walk away pulling suitcases and where caught the RER to CGD Airport. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone wanting comfortable, cosy accommodation in Paris.

Sorry you needed the umbrellas but happy that they were there for your use. We really appreciate your comments as they give potential guests an opportunity to hear from one who has been there and we thank you again for posting such a wonderful review. All the best, Amy
