Manager purchased this cabin in 2008
We weren't shopping for a cabin, we just wanted to have a look. What we found was pretty unbelievable.
The realtor led us down a long, dark hallway guaranteed to extinguish your soul. At the end was a small room with orange shag carpet, a kitchen with no windows, an odd collection of deer heads and antlers, and 35 years of clutter.
Just before turning around and walking out again, we pulled back the dusty drapes. And when we saw the view, our mouths dropped open. Acres of meadow grass, rock out-cropings, pine forest, and brilliant blue Colorado sky. Beyond that, regal and proud, lay the Mummy Range with not another home in sight.
Before we knew it, we were signing papers. Then, we woke up.
It was going to take a lot to turn this sad little cabin into a home we would spend a night in. After much deliberation, we decided to gut the entire structure. Cut more windows so we could see the views from every angle. Rewire, re-plumb, and build a new bath. We put down hardwood floors, dressed the kitchen with marble counters, added a wood stove in case the power went out, plopped down some cozy furniture, and let the views do the rest.
We probably should have scraped it, but we didn't think of it. Now that the work is done, the fun part is seeing the reaction of visitors. On the outside it's a plain little cabin with a big secret. Because when you step through the door, you're blown away by the charm, comfort, luxurious touches and most of all, the view. Like sitting in a lookout from a 'Birds Nest.'
We'd love to have you visit and tell us what you think. And if you're interested, you can see the Before and After pictures of the transformation at www.Home-Decorating-and-Staging.com.

My husband came for a wedding at the Maxwell Ranch and this cabin was perfect! It is so peaceful and quiet and there are beautiful walks right out the door. We would stay again and probably will! Thank you!
