Newberg Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

Farmhouse, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

This charming 'country casual' home is located just outside of Newberg, Oregon, the gateway to the Northern Willamette Valley wine country. The 100 year old farmhouse was remodeled and enlarged to 2500 square feet and is situated on a private 200+ acre working farm which produces hazelnuts (filberts) and wine grapes with an onsite wine tasting room.

The 2nd story of the home has a large master suite with a king bed, fireplace, and private entry with balcony. In addition there are two other upstairs bedrooms, one with a king bed and another with a full size bed as well as a deck, all w/views. There is a 1st floor smaller bedroom with twin beds. There are 2 bathrooms, one upstairs, one on main level. A large deck, perfect for outdoor dining, is just off the large, well equipped kitchen that has a sunken breakfast nook, bar and wet bar w/stereo. There is also a second, larger dining room, w/views to the south, which can accommodate large groups for dining or as a meeting area. The TV room w/views, has plenty of seating. The library has an extensive collection of books. The large cozy sunken living room has a fireplace, electric piano, lots of seating and opens to a deck w/pastoral views. The sunken hot tub room w/views, is off the breakfast nook. Brand new carpeting throughout.

Steps away from the home is a newly replanted garden and a basketball court. The large lawn is perfect for gatherings. Our wooded 200+ acre property, which borders on the Willamette River, has hiking trails and 2 ponds to observe wildlife.

The property has an 80 acre hazelnut (filbert) orchard and a Pinot Noir/Pinot Gris boutique vineyard. The award winning Vercingetorix (VX) Wine Tasting Room is adjacent to the home and is open 12pm to 5pm on Saturdays/Sundays, Memorial Day weekend through Thanksgiving weekend. During regular business hours, guests will receive a complimentary wine tasting in the VX Tasting Room. Occasionally there are events associated with the tasting room and we will coordinate scheduling with guests as needed.

The private stable is adjacent to the house and we board several horses so you may see their owners come and go for riding or carriage driving.*

The area is full of interesting sites and activities. There is a boat ramp in Newberg for those with watercraft. Historic Champoeg State Park is just across the river with lots of history and fun paved bike paths. Cyclists love the backroads in the French Prairie region. The Chehalem Glenn golf course is only minutes away. People enjoy early morning hot air balloon rides that often dip into the river in front of the property. George Fox University and boutique shops are also just 5 minutes away in downtown Newberg. The spectacular new Allison Inn and Spa is also just minutes away. Newberg has 4 grocery stores, 2 large shopping complexes, 7 pharmacies and numerous restaurants to satisfy your needs. The town of Dundee, known for numerous high end wineries and excellent dining, is less than 10 minutes away. The town of Lafayette, popular with antiques shoppers, is just less than 15 minutes away. There are local equestrian events throughout the summer, only minutes away, at the Devonwood Equestrian Center and Hunter Creek. Rental horseback riding is available in the Trask Mt range at the Flying M Ranch, only a 30 minute drive as well as on the beach at Pacific City, 1 hour away. There are a total of 300 vineyards and tasting rooms in the Willamette Valley but within a short drive, there are over 70 wineries and tasting rooms to visit in the Newberg - Dundee - Sherwood area plus many others in the Yamhill county area of Carlton, Dayton, Yamhill, McMinnville and Amity.

Or, you can simply kick back, relax and take advantage of the quiet 'country casual' ambiance of the farm and guest house.

We look forward to seeing you soon.

Sprawling Acreage in a Relaxed Country Setting

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the peace and solitude at this sprawling acreage and guesthouse. If you're looking for time away from it all, limited outside distractions, this is it, we recommend it. Had we known about it months before, we would have suggested it to our newlywed married Son and daughter-in-law to use as their rehearsal dinner locale.

Highly Recommended

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay, and it was just as great as the first. The house is very comfortable and well-appointed, the property is quite nice (with friendly horses!), and the kitchen and dining room in particular are well-suited for the culinarily-inclined. It is a bit of a drive to the bulk of the tasting rooms, but with a little planning this isn't a major issue. Especially when you factor in the price, this is a fantastic property and we will be returning as long as they let us!

Lovely Christmas Stay!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the Vineyard Guest House as a hub for a group of extended family visiting relatives in Newberg over the Christmas holiday. We found everything to be just as described on the website: charming, secluded, cozy and warm! We did a lot of cooking, including a holiday feast, and found the expansive kitchen to be a wonderful feature. It is incredibly well stocked. If there was a utensil or serving plate we needed, it was there. There are even supplemental spices if you forget to bring something from home!

As previous reviews had mentioned, the house is not trendy or newly updated with a lot of bells and whistles, but it fit our needs perfectly. It was sparkling clean and well maintained. We are even starting to think about planning a stay "in season" so we can experience the tasting room and make excursions to other vineyards as well. Becca, the manager is great to work with. The facility gets our highest recommendation!

Perfect place for a girls' trip!

  • 5 of 5

I came to the Willamette Valley to kick off my 40th birthday celebration with some girlfriends and was so glad we chose to stay at the VX Vineyard Guest House. What a beautiful property and a fabulous house. The description of the house is very accurate, but actually almost doesn't do it justice. There's so much space! There were 7 of us in our group and we were never on top of each other. There's plenty of room to sleep, relax, eat, whatever you want to do during your stay. The hot tub is a great addition as well.

The entire property is beautiful. The proximity of the tasting room to the guest house is great - it's the perfect way to kick of your stay with a complimentary tasting of some really good wine. The picnic tables surrounding the house are perfect for sitting down to enjoy some wine, a snack or even a cookout on the grill that's available. I can't think of a single thing that we needed that wasn't there.

The location in the town of Newberg is perfect if you're touring the wineries in the valley. Newberg has plenty of shops and restaurants, not to mention more tasting rooms, just down the road from the VX property. It's very easy to navigate.

I can't wait to return to this area again, and to stay at the VX Guest House again!

Great Wine Country retreat!

  • 4 of 5

Super cool house on lovely property. I stayed here with some girlfriends for our annual Wine Tour weekend. Expansive deck and lawn are great for lounging in the sun (yard would be prefect for games or wedding activities). Big kitchen is great for cooking with a group. The house is rather dated but in a totally awesome 70's kinda way- if you like funky, this place is super groovy. If you prefer something a tad more modern, maybe you won't appreciate it's quirks (they probably ought to replace the gold shag carpet but whatever!). The pics don't really do it justice- much cooler in person. A few potential issues for renters: If you want privacy- this place may not be for you. Despite the property being huge and very secluded, there is a wine tasting room 20 feet from the house, which while convenient for tasting, does have traffic. There is also a working horse barn on the property and boarders come and go (though it was really fun to play with their dogs!). In addition, there is another dwelling on the property where people do live (though we didn't see them). Location- I'm not that crazy about the quality of wine at the tasting rooms in the area so if you need to be close to some of the higher-end stuff, stay in Dundee or Carlton (though it's a quick and pretty drive to everywhere from the house). While the house and rooms are really comfy and roomy my main complaint is that that they only allow 8 (I think) renters at a time- it can easily accommodate way more folks. After seeing the house, I was disappointed I had to limit the number of folks I could invite given the large space, but I understand that wear and tear are surely an issue with any rental. We found the house to be in perfectly clean condition and Becca, the house manager, was just as nice and helpful as she could be. She made it the process very easy. We would defiantly rent this in the future!

Great Retreat

  • 5 of 5

Felt like we had our own hideaway. The house is sprawling, but it is not new, so don't expect perfection. That said, it was great to light a fire, sit down with some of the old books found throughout the house, and watch the kids play chess. The property manager was kind enough to open the tasting room one evening for a private sampling of wines. Chocolate covered hazelnuts from the farm was a favorite. We used this as a home-base to explore Portland and the coast, but there were also some good restaurants nearby in Newberg. Enjoyed the house and the setting very much.
