I loved the food at Villa Violeta. I loved everything, but I'm a foodie and the staff cook provided excellent cuisine for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. Fresh fish, caught that morning transformed into ceviche, plus buttery fillets for the evening meal--the most savory traditional Mexican recipes, easy gringo eggs and bacon, everything I could have asked for and more. Plus tasty and perfectly potent cocktails with top shelf liquor served in noteworthy authentic ways.
Dining at the outdoor deck was beautiful and the service was excellent. The kitchen staff was professional and courteous and helpful and friendly. They even created a special celebratory evening of cocktails, hors d'oeuvres and fireworks at the beach one evening topped by kick-ass mariachis! Gracias A Dios! What a fiesta!
My beds were extremely comfortable. I stayed in the large casita on teh main floor and also in the adorable and cozy El Nidio. Soft, plush, elegant, rich bedding plus a mattress that made me sleep like a queen. I reveled in the cocoon-like tent netting around the bed in the casita. As well, the enclosed nature of El Nido comforted a deep sleep.
The beach was a treat to share with the hot French neighbors on Sunday and then they were gone Monday-Friday and that was nice, too. Our party made use of the hammocks, the shade structure, the lounge chairs, the sand the surf and the sun.
Its an easy jaunt to the local artisanal market on Sunday. Jessica, the helpful and gracious concierge, took us there and helped us navigate anything we inquired about.
We surfed one day in Saulita and the waves were prefect for the beginners in our crew and also for the intermediates. Boards were easy to rent and at a very fair price.
I plan to return in 2012.
