Photos and Description of the Cozumel vacation townhome rental
Townhome, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Casa Vista Azul is a modern three bedroom, two bath townhouse on the beautiful island of Cozumel just off the Mayan Riviera east of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. The house features two sundecks, a patio and a roof-top palapa (shaded roof) with hammocks and lounge chairs that provide plenty of room to sunbathe or just relax and enjoy the coolness of the mornings and evenings and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

Casa Vista Azul is situated in an upscale residential area at the south end of the main town on Cozumel, San Miguel. The house is a short 10 minute drive from the Cozumel Airport or just five minutes from the main ferry dock at the center of town.

A full kitchen with all amenities for preparing and serving meals is provided along with a hot / cold bottled water dispenser and adequate living and dining room accommodations. A television / video and iPOD compatible stereo is available for watching movies in the family room. Bed linens and towels are provided and a washer / dryer are available on the second floor for light laundry chores. All bedrooms and main living areas are air conditioned with individually controlled unit and fans / screen doors allow for nice breezes throughout the house on most days.

The three bedrooms all have queen beds and adequate closet space (the master bedroom has a walk-in closet). Airbeds can be set up in the living room or on any of the decks if additional guests need to be accommodated. The house sleeps six comfortably, up to 8 if required. A rinse tank and drying hooks are located in the front yard of the house that is handy for cleaning dive and snorkel gear. We also provide beach towels and beach gear (ice chests, snorkel gear) for seaside outings.

Maid service is available if requested at an additional cost. Most of our guests at Casa Vista Azul do not require (or desire) daily maid service during their stay unless renting for consecutive weeks.

Kelly, our property manager, will meet you at the property and get you settled into the house and also help if there is any issue during your stay. Kelly is also very helpful with advice on local attractions, excursions to the mainland, or to help find something on the island. Kelly can also arrange for a local chef to prepare meals at the property for a reasonable fee. Local service cell phone is provided for you to make local calls for taxis and restaurants.

Casa Vista Azul offers a more personal, laid back and affordable getaway on the island of Cozumel. It is fun to be able to set your own pace and agenda for your stay on the island. Staying at Casa Vista Azul is a pleasant alternative to the hustle and bustle of traditional hotels and resorts, offering a quieter, more intimate residential setting. If you like being away from the often crowded hotel environment and want a nice place to call home while exploring the wonders of Cozumel, Casa Vista Azul is your place to stay!

About The Owner

The Goldes and Shermans from Utah fell in love with the clear blue waters and wild sandy beaches on Cozumel while on a scuba-diving trip in 2005. Shortly afterwards, we bought Casa Vista Azul as a place to call home while on the island. We have had many friends and guests visit and all have loved the accomodations at Casa Vista Azul. We hope you come and enjoy it too!

The Owner purchased this townhome in 2006
Why The Owner chose Cozumel

This location is in a very nice residential section in the southern part of town (San Miguel) and we feel very welcome and safe here. We have great neighbors, and the house is also very close to everything you will need and want to do. It's like having your own private island!

What makes this townhome unique

We like to scuba dive and snorkel, and Cozumel is world famous for its fabulous dive sites. We also love to snorkel and explore the mostly wild sandy beaches on the south and east side of the island. The weather is usually very pleasant, and when it does rain it doesnt last long.

PERFECT!!!

We arrived late in the evening. We got off the ferry and gave the address to the house to our taxi driver and arrived about 5-7 minutes later. Upon our arrival the property manager was there with keys in hand and snacks on the table. She was incredibly happy and willing to help get us settled and acquainted with the house and area. She was sure to answer all of our questions and then some. She made sure that we had her number, email and all other pertinent info for our stay. (Once we got down to one jug of water and she was sure to bring it by the very next morning!) The neighbors were incredibly kind and helpful in helping us to find our way to some great local spots to eat and very empty beaches. Most of our time at the house was in the afternoon/evenings. There wasn't too much noise from the street or the neighbors (nothing that wasn't to be expected, a little street noise and what you can expect when you share a wall with neighbors and keep the doors open). We kept the doors open and got a wonderful breeze that kept us perfectly comfortable the entire afternoon and evening with the fans on. The house was clean and well maintained, nothing that was out of the ordinary for a vacation rental. The kitchen was well stocked (pots/pans/ etc) and there was plenty of room in the house for storage and luggage (even all the stuff you bring when you are diving/triathloning it) and the dunk tank was awesome after we got done diving/snorkeling. The roof top was a welcome retreat in the afternoons/evenings. We were able to lounge/nap in the hammock and watch the storms come off the gulf, lightning and all. There were six adults there for a week and we had plenty of room to be together and hang out or to spread out and do our own things. We got a car and ended up not needing it most of the time. We walked to the Mega(Pelican) every night for juice bars/ice cream. If the "Churro Dealer" comes by GET SOME!
Recommend? YES I WOULD!!!!! I have made plans to return (Sept and Dec) and have recommended this property to many of my friends who travel with/without their children.
Over all, the house and Cozumel are great places to get away from it all and relax island style. One thing to keep in mind is that if you eat in local restaurants it will take a while. We spent an average of 1-1.5 hours ordering/waiting on our meals. Although in the US this is unheard of we found it remarkably refreshing and took the time to talk and enjoy each other's company.

Owner's Response: We are so glad to hear you had such a great time. Having time to relax like that really is the way to go. Thanks so much for the positive comments and we look forward to your next stay at Casa Vista Azul!

My wife and I just completed a 75 day in CVA this winter from Jan 6 to Mar 21. I inspected this home last Aug. on a trip to Cozumel for 30 minutes early one afternoon and it seemed fine at first glance but I really wish I would have stayed in the unit for a night or two before finalizing the rental.

First, the street the unit is on is VERY noisy and what I did not know from my brief visit there in August is that this street is a major commuter street for locals. From 7AM to about 9AM it is a continuous roar of loud scooters, motorcycles and cars. It slows a bit during mid day but by 4PM it starts up again going the other way until 6PM. On Friday and Saturday evenings is also bad so sleeping is challenging as the loud noise and speeding vehicles are very annoying.

Second, the two ladies living full time in the unit next door (who were not there while I visited last August) are pleasant but also noisy at times with their surrund sound entertainment system they turn up loud in the evenings with all doors and windows open. On one occasion, I had to tell them to turn it down as we could not sleep which worked for a while but then it got loud again over time. They also run a "massage business" out of the unit so women clients are coming and going during the day on a frequent basis parking infront of the unit and ringing the gate bell. They tend to aggressively shut their doors and screen doors and have a couple of dogs that are nice but bark when out in the front yard area at other dogs.

Third, the unit is advertised with a BBQ grill and hot tub. The hot tub is inoperable and has been for a long time I am told and takes up almost half the patio space. The BBQ grill is a "wheel rim" on three legs with a very small grate so do not plan to BBQ a lot of food at once as it will not fit on the grill.

Fourth, the unit seems to be settling a lot. When we got there we could see were a lot of fresh paint/patching that had been done to the interior stucco by one of the owners in December and when we left the end of March, a lof of new stucco cracks appeared in every room in the home to the point one bedroom door upstairs would not close without hitting the floor. A friend of ours owns a unit in the same complex and confirmed foundation problems with these homes.

Fifth, there was always a musty sour smell coming from the laundry room closet.

We will not be back again as there are simply to many negatives irreguardless of price mainly the traffic noise.
Owner's Response: As owners of Casa Vista Azul since it was built six years ago we take issue with the reviewers comments and feel it is only fair for VRBO customers to hear our side of the story. We believe the reviewers comments are inaccurate and go too far and are simply a case of “sour grapes” because we were not able to rent the property to this person for the same (very reasonable) rate as his previous rental period with us.
Potential renters of Casa Vista Azul should be aware of a few facts:
1.) Our property is fairly new (only six years old) and everything at our property is in good working order (except the hot tub which I will explain in a minute). Not too many places for rent in Cozumel can say that. The cracks in the ceiling the reviewer mentioned are a normal aspect of cinder block construction covered with plaster and paint…that’s how they build houses here in Mexico. The door that doesn't close effortlessly, well, yeah, it doesn't, and it hasn't since the day we bought the house. Its not a deal breaker.
2.) Our ad on the VRBO website has not listed the hot tub as a feature of the property for over a year now, and the reviewer rented the property only after inspecting it and KNEW the tub was inoperative (as well as why we chose not to keep it running for now).
3.) We bent over backwards to make this renter happy before he stayed at our property. He requested a wall safe so we installed one. He asked for a table to have on the top floor Palapa so we bought one. He requested a charcoal BBQ grill so we had one made (handmade locally but apparently not up to this persons' standards). So sorry.
4.) As far as the noisy street the reviewer complained about, well sorry again, this is Cozumel and there are people that live and work on this island and some of them just happen to drive by our house on the way to and from work. We've rented to dozens of people in the past 6 years and never had a complaint. Our ad states the residential area. And the “noisy” neighbors?.....well, we've never had someone complain about our neighbors either (anymore than the guest in a typical hotel). Apparently this renter shouldn't rent property where there are any people around.

I hope that prospective renters will take the reviewers comments for what they are (sour grapes) and look at Casa Vista Azul for what it is: a very nice place to stay on the island of Cozumel for a very affordable rate.

Just wanted to say how much fun we had a your place on Cozumel. We had a blast snorkeling and the dive guides at Dive with Martin were very helpful and patient with us as new divers. Every dive we went on was AMAZING! but our favorite was the wall at ElCedral. Fabulous! We splurged one night and had a Chef come to the house and cook dinner for us while we soaked in the yummy hot tub and drank too many rum drinks. That was a real treat. I hope we can come back soon. So much to do and so little time! Two weeks wasn't enough.

Wow! We had no idea how much fun this was going to be. My wife wasnt sure she would like the ocean but after she got a mask on her face I couldnt get her out of the water! Casa Vista Azul is a very nice place to stay. We liked it better than the hotels. It was fun to go to the grocery store and mix it up with the locals. We cooked breakfast at home and made lunches to take on the beach outings (thanks for the Ice chests!) and then we would go out for dinner every night. It was fun to experiment with places to eat but your recommendations were spot on! The Lobsteria and La Chef were our favorites. And the quacamole and chips at the Hotel Barracuda after snorkeling were as good as you said they would be. The Margaritas were pretty good too! We cant wait to go back and swim with the dolphins!

What a great place you guys have on Cozumel! We had such a blast roaming on the beaches and had most of them all to ourselves. Thanks for the great restaurant recommendations! La Serra was our favorite local hangout and the La Veranda was to die for good! The most amazing fish dishes we have ever had! Kelly was a gem, had all kinds of suggestions and was very helpful.Hope we can come back to Casa Vista Azul real soon!
