About Jerry

Jerry Geissler, and Mike and Paula Schnarr are proud to offer their condo for your use. Mike and Jerry are retired firefighters from California who also happen to be pretty handy at construction work, having built several homes on the mainland. When our condo was purchased, it was completely original from the date it was built. Our remodel work started with the removal of everything from the condo. It was stripped to the bare concrete walls before we started the rebuilding process. Even the old 'popcorn' ceilings were stripped, and all ceilings and walls re-textured and painted. Custom cherry cabinets for the kitchen and all three baths were ordered and shipped from the mainland. All bath tub surrounds were stripped and refitted with new tile. A large, custom shower was constructed for the master bath. While Mike and Jerry were busy with all this construction, Paula and Janine were in full shopping mode. They selected solid teak for most of the furniture. New towels, linens, bedspreads and curtains were also procured. The kitchen outfitted with new cookware, dishes, silverware and small appliances. We wanted the condo to have a very Hawaiian feel to it, but we also consciously avoided the usual pure white walls and bamboo furniture that is seen in many condos. All of our colors, textures, and furniture was hand picked, one piece at a time. Although the girls did most of the work selecting all this stuff, Mike and Jerry were instrumental in the selection and installation of the 42' flat-screen TV. We hope you will feel instantly comfortable here, just as we do when we come.

Jerry purchased this condo in 2007

Why Jerry chose Kailua Kona

The Kona Pacific complex is an undiscovered gem on the Kona Coast. Many of the condos that we considered purchasing were of wooden construction, and poorly maintained....and it showed. Kona Pacific is a refreshing change from that. It is constructed completely of concrete, and meticulously maintained. I suspect it looked much the way it does now when it was new. So, we were sold on the quality construction, perfect maintenance, and the manicured grounds and pool. Pride of ownership shows all over this place.

The second thing that attracted us to the Kona Pacific was the perfect location. It is far enough from the breaking waves to be peacefully quiet, yet close enough to get a good ocean view from the lanai. It is a short walk to a great little sandy beach with showers, bathrooms, grass and shade. A short walk north leads you to the Historic Kailua Village. Being able to walk to amenities and entertainment is priceless.

What makes this condo unique

One of our favorite things to do here, is walking to the village. In the morning, you can't beat KONA coffee and breakfast while overlooking Kailua Bay. Huggo's on the Rocks, and the Lava Java are our favorites, and two of the first places you come to on your walk.

In the evening, a short walk across the street will take you to the Royal Kona Resort and is one of the bests places to watch the sun set. One of our fondest memories is sitting at the Royal Kona, sipping on a Mai Tai and watching the cruise ships sail off into the sunset....literally.

Sometimes when we can't decide what to do for dinner, we just walk into the village to see what looks good. There is always something going on at one of the eateries.....somebody will have two dollar mai tais or other specials that are always a good place to start. Then, you can walk further down Alii to find a good place to eat. The historic Kona Inn has fabulous ocean view dinning. They have a formal dining room, and a seating area near the bar that offers more affordable, quicker fare. After dinner, it's time for ice cream and a stroll. There are countless little ice cream and shaved ice shops in the village. We still haven't found them all, and they all have their own unique flavors. It's the perfect way to end your evening before heading back home.

2 bedroom condominium on the Kona coast, Hawaii

  • 5 of 5

My time in Hawaii on the Kona coast was absolutely wonderful. The condo we stayed in was in a perfect location. You could see the ocean from the lanai (which ran the entire length and both bedrooms had their own sliding glass door to it. It was furnished beautifully with (what I consider very important) comfortable beds.

March 2015 at Kona Pacific

  • 5 of 5

If you don't mind not being on the water, this condo is an excellent choice from location in the complex to location in the town of Kailua-Kona. My family of four stayed for the month of March and we were very pleased with the style, cleanliness, location, and lay-out. Very good value. No need to repeat all it's assets which are well reviewed already. Being avid hikers, we highly recommend the hikes at Waipio Valley and Pololu Valley as well as the hike from SouthPoint to Green Sand Beach/Crater. The hike around and down into Kailua Iki Crater was unique. Danny Rey's and Kona Inn are restaurants in town worth a visit.

Owner's Response: Some folks go the islands to lay in the sun and unwind but as you can see here this guest found there is lots more to do while visiting Kona. There are many trails and hikes for the adventurous and drives for those who choose not to hike. The island is diverse in its terrain, being dryer on the Kona side and more tropical on the Hilo side. It is small enough to enjoy one of these hikes each day but large enough to give you a totally different hike also. We hope you will come to Kona and see for yourself.

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing in Hawaii for over 30 years. Rather sad that we just found this wonderful condo. There were four of us this trip and the unit coldn't have been more perfect. Each couple had their own bedroom equipped with private bath, flat screen TV, ceiling fan, air conditioner, comfortable beds, one room had a king, one a queen, plus each had it's own sliding door to the extra large lanai. Our two parking spaces were located very close to the elevator. The condo is beautifully decorated and the kitchen is well stocked with most everything you could possibly need. The location is close enough to walk to all restaurants and shops in Kona. We will deffinately try to book this unit for our next stay. The lady handeling our booking was extremely helpful!

Beautiful condo, perfect for everyone and a great location

  • 5 of 5

This condo exceeded our expectations, which is difficult to do! We stayed for 10 days and the condo had everything which made our stay feel like a home away from home. The beds were cozy, the lanai was literally twice the size we expected, the condo was so clean and updated. We were close enough to walk to any restaurant and tons of great shops. You must go to Java on the Rocks for breakfast which is just down and across the street. They have tables in the sand, just kick off your flip flops and your dining beachfront! For sightseeing we rented an SUV since we wanted to head to Mauna Kea. We also visited Hilo, (on the way home stop off at Tex Drive In for a bavarian cream malasada, your welcome), Waimea (must try Hawaiian Style Cafe, awesome breakfast!), Black Sand Beach with sea turtles resting right on the beach, Kilauea Crater. We also spent a day at Pearl Harbor which was incredible. We booked our own flight to Honolulu and tickets to all the tours. Since we bought everything individually we were on our own schedule and stayed as long as we wanted at each stop. Take the first early morning flight out and last flight back to make the most of Pearl Harbor. This condo is so close to the airport, it made our island hop easy.

When we return to Kona, there is no need for us to even look anywhere else. Tammy was always available and responsive to any questions we had and she made sure we knew we could contact her with any questions during our stay. I highly recommend this condo, you will not be disappointed.

Owner's Response: These guests seem to have managed to do it all. Top of Mauna Kea, Volcanos National Park, Hilo and Waimea and all points in-between. Getting over to see Pearl Harbor is just as easy as they mentioned. And don't forget all the good eats on the island. Plan ahead for that.

Couldn't have been more perfect

  • 5 of 5

Where to start as everything about this condo was perfect..... Beautifully decorated, they have a lot of cute Hawaiian finishes, good sized bedrooms for 4 adults which included air con (we needed this during our stay it was really hot & humid), the patio furniture was extremely comfortable, the kitchen well equipped & although we didn't use them they had a good selection of beach equipment. Everything was in good working order and seemed to be fairly new.

One of the things that impressed me the most was the cleanliness of this unit. I work for a hotel and have extremely high standards, one of the most reoccurring notes our guests mention is the house keeping services.... This condo was spotless as where the complex grounds, we used the pool one evening while it was raining and had so much fun. Generally there seemed to be plenty of opportunities to have the pool area to yourself.

Loved the undercover parking & it's location, location, location! For exploring the volcanoes I personally feel this condo is a little too far, my recommendation would be to base yourself here and maybe stay 3/4 nights over the Hilo side for volcano activities, but for exploring the entire west side and all the way north and south you won't find a better place to stay. Literally on the outskirts of the town it's no more then a 5 minute walk to beaches, shops & restaurants, the actual complex itself is peaceful best of both worlds! Let's not forget the close & easy proximity to the international airport.

My husband & I are in love with the big island and are already thinking of our return. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this condo again the only thing that may hold us back is that we would be traveling as a party of 2 as opposed to 4, but we would definitely try & stay in this same complex reaching out to the owners of this unit before looking elsewhere.

We didn't have much communication with Tammy as it wasn't necessary but what communication we did have was extremely pleasant & efficient. If your reading this don't look any further this unit will not disappoint.

Owner's Response: It is amazing how a person can read a review and be right there, imagining how their vacation will be when they arrive. it is great to have prior guests share where they have been and all the things to do. When you make your reservations, you will have a good idea of where to go and what to expect.

Lovely base for a Big Island vacation

  • 4 of 5

My family of five stayed here June 2014 and enjoyed it thoroughly. Lovely, quiet pool. Walking distance to a small beach, restaurants, bars, coffee, and most of the Kona village sights. Everything very well maintained and the condo is equipped with everything you need for a great time in Hawaii. Comfortable beds, gracious and responsive hosts.
