Post and Beam house on a private bluff with views of the Catskills. The house sits on 23 acres of open fields and wooded trails on a road known locally for its beauty, with spring fed ponds and horse farm. The house has high/cathedral ceilings on both floors, very large windows, fireplace, wood burning stove, open deck, covered porch, and marbled bathrooms, and big skylights. Truly exceptional. House is equipped with satellite TV, wireless, and outdoor grill.

The property is a wonderful setting with open fields and woods for walking, hiking and kite flying in the summer and snow shoeing, sledding and x country skiing in the winter. The pond at the foot of the driveway is available through the largesse of our friendly neighbor for swimming, kayaking, fishing and picnicking. Hanley Road itself is so lovely that people come to walk and enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Enjoy the delights of Columbia County including a wonderful visit to the Old Chatham Sheepherding Company to visit the lambs and watch the sheep being milked. The Village of Chatham offers wonderful restaurants, an antique cinema which hosts an annual film festival, book stores and the annual county fair. Antique shops on renown Warren Street in Hudson offer a full day of browsing. Take in a concert at Tanglewood or PS21, see a film at the Crandell or at Time & Space in Hudson, enrich your soul at Olana and Omi. Enjoy your time in one of the most beautiful counties in New York.

During ski season, within 1/2 hour to ski areas, Jiminy Peak, Catamount, Butternut and Bosquet. 2.5 hours from Manhattan. 2.75 hours from Boston.

We loved our stay at this house. It is beautiful post-and-beam construction and nicely proportioned for a couple or a group of six. The rolling hills that immediately surround the house make it secluded and truly special. It is also very close to all the cultural and scenic advantages of Columbia County, NY, and near the Berkshires. And watch for herds of deer romping through the grass or snow in the fields around the property!
