My husband, a cabinet maker by trade, and I purchased in 1996. It had been empty and neglected for the previous three years. The home, which we call 'Capt. Taylor', had been originally built by a sea captain in 1903 and we were excited to start restoring it. The process took several years but we hope you'll find it special as we do!
Maria purchased this apartment in 1996
We absolutley love Camden, Maine and buying this home, restoring it and sharing it with others has been a blessing.
This a 'home away from home' place to stay!
You'll love a leisurely walk to the harbor for dinner at one of Camden's many fine restaurants, then a sunset cruise on a schooner and afterwards relaxing on your front porch with a glass of wine.
Lovely, well-appointed apartment. Perfect location. We walked into town and to the harbor. We were right on the road to drive to Lake Meginticook where our friends were renting. The rental experience was easy and pleasant. I would recommend this to anyone.
This apt home is so comfortable, and the owners available if needed. We did not need anything however because everything was here, i.e., full kitchen supplies, wonderful linens, tv, and laundry. We easily walked into town sometimes twice a day, cooked steaks on the grill on our private porch, and watched the world go by as we relaxed. If we do come back to Maine we hope this is available. Thank you owners!!
We had a lovely stay in this charming 3 bedroom apartment that is just 5 minutes walk into Camden. The apartment is just as described and was spic and span when we arrived. There are gorgeous hanging geraniums on the porch and lovely lace curtains that flutter in the breeze. The layout was perfect--my two teens each had a room at one end of the apartment while my husband and I were in the MBR at the other end. The kids could stay up late without disturbing us and we could get up early without disturbing them. The kitchen was big and well-stocked with cooking gear and staples. There's a place to buy provisions right in the center of town--so convenient. We loved being able to walk into town and always enjoyed our strolls back up after dinner. The harbor with its windjammers is just down the hill, along with a great variety of shops and restaurants. The kids were able to come and go on their own--always a plus! There is a bit of car traffic on Route 52, but we didn't find it bothersome in the least (Route 1 is far worse in terms of noise). A great deal!
This is hands down, the best place my family has ever stayed! The house is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for a family. It is equipped with everything you could possibly need. By far, the most well equipped rental home we've ever stayed in. The street the house is on basically turns into Main St. through downtown Camden just a short distance from the house. My kids walked it easily a few times a day. Downtown Camden is an absolute gem. It has all the charm of a resort town without the cheesiness. There is so much to do in town, we didn't even accomplish everything in a week! Thank you so much for your hospitality and we can't wait to come back! Hopefully soon!
The property was absolutely outstanding. For my wife, our daughter and her family, it was ideal. Location meant everything to us since we have family in the area, such a short walk to downtown Camden, and lovely places to walk. House was well stock in the basic kitchen essentials. Beautiful wrap around porch where spent our dinner and cocktail hour. Looking to come back again next year.
The apartment is spacious, spotlessly clean and well equipped. There were plenty of towels and the kitchen is great if you want to cook. Downtown Camden is an easy stroll away with their wonderful harbor, sailboats, and great restaurants. Camden Hills State Park is very nearby. Also the Cellardoor Winery and the beautiful Camden Public library are worth a visit.
I would highly recommend this property.
We are located withing a short walk to Camden Harbor. Many schooners available for days sails, sunset cruises and over night trips as well. Also Kayak rental/tours available as well as wildlife site seeing. Loads of wonderful restaurants and unique shops. Don't forget to check out our fantastic library as well! Take a hike (or drive) up Mt. Battie...A view not to be missed!!! And for those needing even more of a work out, the local YMCA is only 1.3 miles away.
