We moved to Carmel in 1964 and never turned back. We love our home in this special place we call Paradise. We brought up our four daughters here and moved to the Highlands twenty-five years ago to enjoy the magnificent ocean views and serenity. My husband is a writer and I'm a Coach for families of children with special educational needs. We enjoy the arts and fine dining found within minutes of our home. We walk daily in our neighborhood and are always inspired by the natural surroundings of the beautiful Carmel Highlands. Our daughters and some of our grandchildren live nearby. They stayed in this small, quaint, artistic community to enjoy the friendly ambiance and the many outdoor activities the Central Coast offers. One of our daughters and her husband have a sailboat, where they enjoy day sailing and whale watching on the Monterey Bay. From every visitor's perspective, our little corner of the world beckons vacationers to return again and again.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1985
We fell in love with the Highlands and the exquisite ocean views and quiet solitude that surround us here.
Ocean views forever, quiet, private and peaceful, and close to everything: hiking, beautiful nature walks with views of the ocean and wildlife, Point Lobos, Monastery Beach. Access to a gorgeous private beach, exquisite sunsets and wonderful neighbors who add to this special community. Also 6 minutes to shopping and dining in Carmel;15 minutes to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 30 minutes to Big Sur. Easy access to everything you could want in a vacation getaway!
This two story cottage is more beautifullll than the pictures show. We said that as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere is so warm and the light all day is amazing.
It is charming and still the decor leaves space for YOU and is in the best way neutral. And ..the views! Pictures do not show how big the porch is that faces the ocean and the amazing sunsets. We had colder weather and so we usually lay on the bed upstairs and watched the sun setting from there or sat with a glass of wine on the cozy couch upstairs.
It actually feels like you have two houses in one. Perfect ...when one of us got up earlier or wanted some alone time.
Weather did permit some meals on the porch. You will find a table and grill.
The lounging chars are not the most comfy but we did enjoy sitting there of course.
We have to tell you about the birds. We had birds coming to visit us on the porch. A few seeds or granola and they ate out of your hand. We enjoyed that.
The garden surrounding the cottage is very well taken care of too and sooooo many flowers to enjoy. Many you will find in vases waiting for you in the home. That is a lovely touch!
Everything is of best quality. The towels are soooo soft. The bathrobes plush. The bed is wonderful. The kitchen supplies generous . Many informative books . You will find all you need.
The bathroom...yes it is small. Shower is powerful though. Here we would have needed a bit more space just for putting our things. We stayed here 10 days so you bring more with you then :) !...maybe an extra shelf or little shelves in the window?
The area is our favorite now. So close to everything and amazing vegetation and views.
The owners home is close by, that was a bit of a surprise at first but ....we quickly realized that all has been arranged for complete privacy.
Plants are placed for visual privacy and there are blinds where you would want them. Upstairs you are only facing nature and in the downstairs there was just one Window where we pulled down the blinds ( although the view to the garden is breathtaking)
Plus...we did not even see our gracious landlady except for the introduction tour and when we received a sweet send off in the end.
She is a wonderful woman who obviously really cares for the place and makes sure your experience is a 5 star one.
What made this place so special for us where the generosity, the personal touches, the beauty, the silence ....and that it immediately felt like home.
The perfect spot to enjoy all the California Coast has to offer ! Private and quiet, but close to everything. Our gracious host, Judy, was extremely thoughtful and responsive to our needs ! From our welcome basket of wine and goodies, to the fresh flowers throughout the cottage, and the free passes to the Monterrey Aquarium and Point Lobos Park, we were certainly made to feel special. We loved having a glass of wine on our deck and watching some magnificient sunsets ! Definitely will return.
Just imagine: Waking in the morning looking at the Pacific Ocean. Living in a charming cottage equipped with even a dishwasher and washer and dryer. Spending your day taking short day trips to amazing places. Enjoying flowers and greenery everywhere and moderate temperatures, and if it should rain, it's cause for celebration. Eating out in first rate restaurants or staying at "home" and cooking on the grill. The best is Judy, your host, full of concern for your enjoyment and comfort. She is a very gracious lady and saying good-bye to her and Point of View was difficult after a wonderful stay.
Point of View cottage was unforgettable. We were very relaxed and comfortable during our entire stay. We loved hearing the ocean as we fell asleep each night! The location is both peaceful and serene and close to Point Lobos State Park, Big Sur and Monterey for day trips. The welcome basket was perfect! Thank you Judy.
The passes for the amazing Monterey Bay Aquarium and the California State Parks were a great surprise and we express our gratitude for them. Another added bonus was being able to enjoy the delicious pears from the pear trees on the property.
Everything was perfect. Would highly recommend Point of View.
We visited the cottage earlier this month not knowing what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised by not only the spectacular picturesque views and cozy ambiance along with very thoughtful touches and attention to detail the gracious owner Miss Judy provides. We were greeted with a lovely fresh lavender & rosemary bouquet and a welcome basked with many yummy treats inside along with passes to the Monterrey Aquarium, entrance to the beautiful Point Lobos Reserve and access to a wonderful private beach. We did do day trips to Big Sur and a couple of wineries and a little bit of hiking and dinners out but both felt we would be just as happy to stay in and spend more time just relaxing on the deck & cooking our meals in the cozy kitchen. We even experienced regular morning visits from a pretty little wood pecker, can't say enough of just how enjoyable it was to stay at "Point of View", we will definitely be back and hopefully for a longer period of time, 3 days was not enough! Thank you Judy for allowing us to stay in your beautiful little piece of heaven! Our best, Tony & Yolanda
