Find comfort in the beautifully- appointed, cozy and spacious interior with hard wood floors, open beam ceilings and abundant natural light. French doors open to the dramatic ocean views and wrap around deck with BBQ and patio table for al fresco dining. This unique two-story guest cottage offers a memorable getaway for a couple, a solo traveler or the small family.

A fully equipped kitchen, with adjoining living and ocean-view dining area completes the open floor plan on the first level. A separate and private bath is off entry. Upstairs, our guests will find another open and spacious level with endless views of the Pacific from the king bed and daybed (converts to king) and from the comfortable seating areas perfect for taking in views, watching flat screen tv, lounging on comfortable couch and chairs, game table for entertainment.

About The Owner

We moved to Carmel in 1964 and never turned back. We love our home in this special place we call Paradise. We brought up our four daughters here and moved to the Highlands twenty-five years ago to enjoy the magnificent ocean views and serenity. My husband is a writer and I'm a Coach for families of children with special educational needs. We enjoy the arts and fine dining found within minutes of our home. We walk daily in our neighborhood and are always inspired by the natural surroundings of the beautiful Carmel Highlands. Our daughters and some of our grandchildren live nearby. They stayed in this small, quaint, artistic community to enjoy the friendly ambiance and the many outdoor activities the Central Coast offers. One of our daughters and her husband have a sailboat, where they enjoy day sailing and whale watching on the Monterey Bay. From every visitor's perspective, our little corner of the world beckons vacationers to return again and again.

Beautiful cottage with a great view

We had a great stay. The cottage was very well equipped and was spotless. The location was convenient and very quiet and convenient. It was a great base for us during the Big Sur Marathon.

Carmel Highland Charming Cottage!

My boyfriend and I just got back from Carmel Highlands and already we want to go back! This cottage left you wanting for nothing. Judy was an exceptional host; she was very pleasant, full of energy but yet completely respected our privacy. She gave us a tour of the cottage, showed us how to use the electronics, including portable sound systems, gave us the Lobos State park pass, the aquarium pass and was on her way.

A charming welcome basket included fresh herbs, crackers, dark chocolate/wine, fruit, nuts, hummus in the fridge and more! Never have I seen a welcome basket like this!

I can not even begin to describe the view from the magnificent windows both upstairs in the master suite and from the first floor. You didn't want to leave the cottage but you knew what awaited you beyond the cottage doors.

The kitchen was very well equipped including a full spice rack, olive oil, teas, coffee etc.

The king sized bed and pillows are very comfortable and there were even terry cloth robes for us to use!

Judy gave us a list of favorite local restaurants in which we tried several. We had a wonderful Mexican meal at Dos Amigos! There was also a browsing book on Big Sur hikes with tabbed pages of favorite hikes. We did a few of them and were NOT disappointed, including the walk down to the private beach.

All in all we had such a wonderful stay, Judy's attention to detail is exquisite!! We would definitely go back!!

Quiet, comfortable, spacious, restful, beautiful views, close to amenities. What else could you ask for? Lovely welcome basket and passes to Lobos and Aquarium. The private access to small beach was exquisite, with many starfish and other sea creatures to be observed and enjoyed. Judy is the most friendly, professional and informative owner that we have ever dealt with at a VRBO!

What a perfectly relaxing trip!

This cottage is the VRBO experience at its finest! I cannot say the cottage was as described because it was better! The decor is beautiful, charming and very comfortable. The location was ideal. It was close to everything but tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. When we arrived there was a welcome basket with wine, local papers and even chocolates for my children. Judy has taken the time to make this cottage top notch. Every detail has been attended to. We felt as if we were staying in the guest house of good friends. We will certainly be coming back to stay in this cottage by the sea!

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Marci and Judy were great to work with and the cottage was in immaculate condition. We especially enjoyed the private beach and the amazing views. We will definitely be coming back to the Cottage in Carmel highlands.
