About John Gorgas
John & Marie have owned the Rocky Branch Resort for over 20 years. Marie is a compulsive decorater and John thought this lodge would keep her busy. In the past we would have to move when Marie finished decorating, now she just starts over & over. We love this life in the middle of an 11,000 acre state park. The wildlife is amazing, the deer are everywhere, bald eagles, and yes even an occassional Bear. We had been to many lake but none even compared to Beaver lake. The lake is clear and deep over 230 ft. at the dam. This is a one of a kind area and we are sure you will love the lake and area as much as we do.
Be sure to visit the new park visitor center, the War eagle Mill and, the War Eagle Caverns. The park is full of trails both hiking and Mountain biking. Come spend some time with us.
John Gorgas purchased this lodge in 1990
Why John Gorgas chose Beaver Lake
We came to the area for the famous War Eagle Craft Fair. This is the largest craft fair in the country. John discoved the lodge on a guided fishing trip, Marie took one look and fell in love. We have the privilege to live in the country but only 14 miles from city life, malls, theaters, plays, restraurants, Walmart Visitor Center (We are the home to Walmart Offices).
What makes this lodge unique
We sit at the entrance to the state park and full service Marina. The lodge has views of the lake and some of the forest. We feed the wild life for your enjoyment.
