WOW! GREAT LOCATION! GREAT RATE! HONUA KAI-INNER COURTYARD-2BR/2BA

We'll start with an over the top statement but it really is true. Simply, there aren't enough nice words to describe Mark/Barb and Michelle (for meeting us at check-in and showing us around the unit) for their help and this condo. This was our first use of VRBO as an accommodation option so we were a little wary but if Mark, Barb and Honua Kai are the example we'll definitely rent in this manner again. The condo was just perfect, exactly as described. Neat/tidy, large enough for our two sons (16 and 8) and us to all have our own space (which, for anyone who has travelled with two boys will tell you, is a big plus) and the location was great. We drove to Hana, Ziplined, surfed, whale watched, ate out, BBQ'd ('grilled' - there are a lot of facilities at the resort), went exploring, shopped and relaxed on the beach and in the pool. Honua Kai was a great home base and unit 205 is in a great location within the resort. We also met some great new friends while swmming in the pool and BBQ'ing. Overall a great, relaxing vacation. Couple of tips: gets some supplies from Costco (located just out of the airport on the left), get a Safeway or Foodlands card for savings on any grocery 'top-ups', try a burger at Cool Cat Cafe in Lahaina, enjoy a cocktail from Dukes while you relax by the resort pool or on your lanai, drive to Hana, if you have kids get them a surfing lesson from Goofy Foot and just forget about the rest of the world. Thanks Mark and Barb we will certainly come back.

Our family of five stayed for 8 nights in November and had a wonderful trip. The unit was clean, comfortable and beautiful. We loved the beach toys and boogie boards provided for the kids - they used them everyday. The kitchen was well-equipped and had everything we needed. The location of the unit within the resort was perfect for us - parking was convenient and we liked being in the courtyard. The beach outside the resort had nice-sized waves that the older kids really enjoyed and it was never crowded. We loved that we could see Lanai and Molokai right from the beach - made for some beautiful pictures. This was our first time booking a property with vrbo/homeaway and the owners made it very easy. They answered all our questions and even called the day before with helpful tips on local restaurants and activities. We can't thank them enough for their hospitality and would definitely stay with them again if we ever make a return trip.

OK, I won't list all 205 reasons, but I could. We are a family of 4, with two kids, aged 10 and 17. First, the resort is fabulous!! It has a great network of pools, the grounds are beautiful, the lobby pristine and access to the beach couldn't be closer! Duke's Restaurant on the premises was really nice for breakfast and for a poolside lunch and Mai Tai's. The unit was great! The two bathrooms, each with a shower and bathtub, were so wonderful. It was great to take a nice, hot bath after a day in the ocean. The bedrooms were very roomy and each had a TV (the teenager was in paradise!). Our 10 year old was very comfy sleeping on the couch bed. The condo really has EVERYTHING you could need, from the beach supplies, chairs and boogie boards to the small coolers which were indispensable on our journeys. Also, we grilled out at the little grilling island at the complex so we could sit on the beautiful lanai and watch the resort light up with torches, see the palm trees sway, and hear the waves of the ocean. There were so many little touches that made everything perfect. Don't miss the koi feeding in the lobby every morning - my daughter loved it. The concierge was super helpful in booking our boat tour and the prices were discounted. Also, the pool "shed" had everything you might need to rent: snorkel sets, etc. The ocean in front of the resort is reefy (the beach itself is beautiful and sandy), but that made it perfect for snorkeling anytime we wanted. For beach swimming and sand play, you just have to walk a bit down a little ways. BTW, Merriman's restaurant at Kapalua Bay was one of the best meals I've ever, ever had and the wine list is out of this world (and best mai tai's on the island)! It's pricey, but hey - you're on vacation! Also, Ono Tacos is just a little taco stand not far from Honua Kai, but get some of their fish and shrimp tacos and eat them on your balcony with a cocktail and you'll know you're in heaven! Surf Lessons were GREAT from Royal Surf Academy and the hike to Waimuko Falls was a highlight of our trip. Leave early for the road to Hana to see the whole thing and drive it slowly to enjoy it and avoid car sickness. Thanks, Mark and Barb for sharing your little slice of paradise.
