Comfortable Stay

  • 5 of 5

Property was all and more than we expected. House was equipped with necessary items for essential basic living needs. House was kept neat and clean and the owner assured any questions that we had were answered in a timely manner. Only thing I would say was the house was a little on the cooler side, which can be expected for an older home in the city. Overall comfortable stay, I would definitely stay here again.

Owner's Response: I am glad you enjoyed your stay! For future guests, the thermostat for the heater is in the hallway on the first floor. The house has a radiator heating system and it has no problem heating the house, regardless of how cold it gets. If you aren't familiar with radiator heaters, they take longer than forced air to heat up and cool down. So, if you are accustomed to turning the heat down when you leave for the day to save on energy, while at the house, consider turning it down only a few degrees, so when you return in the evening, it doesn't take as long for the temperature to get back to normal. Also, if you feel a draft, it is likely that the previous guest has cracked a window and the cleaner didn't catch it; so if you feel a draft, make sure all the windows are closed tight and latched!

Definitely will come back again

  • 5 of 5

Renting this house was one of the best decisions we made over our Thanksgiving trip. I went with a bunch of my friends and had a great time over. The house is huge, clean, well-maintained, and pretty much has everything that we needed. Location is nice, which took only 10 minutes (Uber) to commute to most of the places that we went to.

As for the owner, he is very helpful and respond quickly to all our questions. He provided excellent customer service, and I will definitely recommend this place if you are looking for a place to stay over.

Fabulous home for our Christmas Family Reunion

  • 5 of 5

We choose DC as the halfway point for our Russian Christmas family reunion of contingents from NC and NYC. What a lovely historic neighborhood! Le Droit

park is beautiful. Christmas decorations and lights were still up in the Circle and as we arrived it began to snow, heightening the charm! It was as in a Victorian postcard scene. However, we had no trouble in the storm (several inches of snow, which we loved; we are snow deprived in NC) and cabs arrived within 5-10 minutes of calling for them.

Austin was so easy to work with and very amenable. The house was great and all seven of us were very comfortable. Everything was as Austin said it be and the kitchen is amazing! We had everything to prepare gourmet meals, and I do mean every appliance and tool! The dining room is large and the table accommodates a big group. We also ordered in Thai food the first night which arrived quickly and was very good. There are menus for local restaurants in a kitchen drawer (very thoughtful!) We experienced no problems during our stay what so ever. what so ever. the house was spotless and commodious. The NY group was very impressed with the space and laundry facilities! Sightseeing was easy to all major points of interest. The metro is close and easy to navigate. We had one car and the private parking space on the property is a wonderful convenience (although if you are able bodied you don't need a car). Neighbors and area merchants we nothing but helpful, friendly and polite. One resident stopped to inquire if I needed assistance with helping my disabled husband into the car during the snowstorm!

Our only regret was that we didn't have more time to explore the neighborhood so we hope to stay again in the near future.

Also, there is a mall with a Giant Foods grocery (impressive produce), a TJ Maxx and a Home Depot just 1.5 miles from the house, right off Rhode Island Ave., for those wishing to do a big shopping. Some of us shopped at the Harris Teeter and the Mall in Adams Morgan which has a Target and other stores.

Bottom line: great house, great neighborhood, fabulous city!

One small suggestion: a few more comfortable chairs that could be moved to the living room for large group hanging out.

We hope to be back in the near future. Thanks, Austin

Cool place! Safe area. Easy walk to Shaw Metro. Large modern kitchen. Comfy beds. Great owner.

  • 5 of 5

We shared this place with my husband's sis & her fam. We had ten people total. The kids had a lot of fun and there was plenty of space for all six of them to sleep comfortably. The place was spotless and a cool mixture of older architecture with modern conveniences. There were plenty of kitchen essentials already on hand, both pantry items and different types of bowl, pots, and pans & such for cooking. Our bathroom was very cool - though I was not comfortable with it not having a lock on the door. (kids....)

Austin was kind and helpful. Thankfully we only needed to contact him about a pitcher for tea. Everything was is good working order and things were where he said they would be. He was very easy to work with and got back to us super-quick.

We walked everyday to the Shaw Metro station and the walk was very much enjoyable. A lot of beautiful different types of houses to enjoy looking at along the maybe 6 block walk. We were only a few stops from the Mall - so we did not spend a lot of time trying to get to where we wanted to be. (last year we stayed a bit further out and once had to take a bus back out our place and that took forever.) You can purchase a Metro pass at the station and the station workers are very kind and super-helpful.

I will stay here again - no doubt. I would stay here with my children even if my husband is not along. That is how safe I felt here. (not too easy for me to feel safe)

This was a very, very nice place to stay.

Wonderful!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was truly a wonderful experience. The community was great and the house was beyond anything that I could have imagined. There was an issue with the air conditioner; however, before we knew it, Austin had taken care of it. Talk about a true home away from home!! I can't want to return again. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting the true feel of D.C. in a warm atmosphere.
