We would love to secure your vacation time on MDI here at Barnacle landing. The VRBO connections have been wonderful and everyone has expressed their wonder and amazement at our best kept secret, the cottages on the bay. Renters are still saying this place 'exceeds expectations' What else can we say? Come see for yourselves.
This family run property always exceeds renters expectations. The 'RabbitHole' cottage is totally family friendly and has a great deck for sunsets, b-b-q's and playing. The surrounding woods are nature's masterpiece. Quintessential Maine. There is lots more we offer, email me for details of Barnacle Landing, on the WESTSIDE of MDI off Tremont Road.
2 private bedrooms, 1 queen, 1 twin beds plus a sleeping loft with twin. Added room to play as well.
New gas cooktop, new windows, finely maintained and CLEAN!
The property is 1500 feet of shoreline and the cove proves to be a great place to explore Maine shore life and geology. Nearby, Pretty Marsh is chock full of places to explore by rowing, paddling. The harbor is home to seals, porpoises, great blue heron, osprey and frequent eagles. Fishing is always a great way to spend your time.
If you like to swim in cold water, there are ladders at the dock and a gravel beach to wander in and out of the water. Of course there are warmer ponds and lakes very nearby, too.
40 acres of woods surround the houses are full of pathways and mossy areas for exploring. There are mussels to collect at low tide and you can steam your own lobsters on the deck of your house.
And, SUNSET is an amazing feature here on the west side of Mount Desert Island.
We have other cottages available, please contact me for more information. Summer's almost here so lets talk about our open rental weeks. CLICK THE LINK BELOW to find me and MORE.

My husband, David, & I have lived on MDI for 7 years now. We made a life switch from 'the city' and love this place. We are lucky to have work in winter to sustain us- that is the challenge on MDI. Treat the locals with respect, they give it their all in summer!
Sheila Eddison purchased this cottage in 1955
This camp has been in the family for over 50 years. It's been well maintained and improved- it's stellar for a cottage in the Maine woods, on the WEST SIDE of MDI where the sunset rocks.
Peace and quiet of the woods and shore are fabulous. Access to the National Park and coming home to Barnacle Landing are worth the energy to get here.
We have been vacationing regularly at Mount Desert Island for the past 25 years and consider it 'a piece of heaven that dropped from the sky'. It wasn't until we stayed at the Barnacle, last summer, we grew a further appreciation of the Island. The setting is tranquil, and the spirit is extraordinarily peaceful. The views are breathtaking, especially in the early morning mist. The deck, which overlooks the bay, was the perfect setting for reading, doing yoga, playing cards or having our meals. The house was spotless and perfectly suited with games, comfortable furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. The private pier offered us the use of kayaks and a nice place to lounge on the bay. Dave and Sheila even took all the renters out on their sail boat one evening. Area restaurants were terrific and all our shopping needs were close by. Our children didn't even notice the fact there was no TV. It was the perfect vacation.
This will be our 3rd summer coming back to Rabbit Hole with our family, and we intend to come back every year for as long as possible! Truly a spectacular setting that we find to be so invigorating and grounding. Nothing but fresh air, nature's beauty and quality family time. Our days are usually full of hiking and biking around Acadia National Park, heading back to the cottage to swim and use the canoes at the dock, then eating dinner on the porch watching the sun set over the water. Couldn't be better! The cottage is rustic, which we love, and always clean and well-equipped. The owners are very friendly and helpful too. Our kids love it as much as we do! We highly recommend the Barnacle Landing Cottages.
