I'm sitting at Abigail's as I write this. My seven-year-old is playing soccer with his grandmother on the huge private landscaped lawn, which is a few short steps down a path to a gorgeous gazebo on the lake. We have spent many a quiet evening at the gazebo watching the waves, enjoying a glass of wine while my son plays with sparklers or bubbles.
The cottages are so much more than you'd expect from a little lakeside cottage, with beautiful hardwood floors, newly equipped kitchen, cozy bedrooms, and screened-in porch for pest-free eating. For rainy days they have dish t.v. and wifi. The places are immaculately kept by a friendly (and hard-working!) woman named Star. Fresh towels, and clean linens are also a part of the deal, along with a well-stocked kitchen (we found paper towels, paper plates, cutlery, wine glasses, and grill-ware in great condition). I also have to add that typically I hate hotel/cottage beds and tend to not sleep well, but that has NOT been the case here!
Perhaps the only downside is that folks strolling the strip frequently walk by and gawk at how great this place is! It truly is a gem. Not only are you on the lake, you're literally a block away from Eddie's Grill and all the great things there are to do on the strip, no need to drive anywhere. A really fun, affordable, and relaxing vacation spot with all the amenities you could hope for.
Our whole family agreed that this stay was one of our most enjoyable vacations ever! Even though the "strip" was not officially open until the following weekend, we loved the whole area! The views are breathtaking, extremely quiet and serene, yet a few feet away from the excitement! The cottage was definately clean and well kept, and Abby was very helpful! We have all agreed that we would definately enjoy another stay here--absolutely beautiful! Thanks again for a wonderful stay!!!
We came to Geveva-On-The-Lake for a little anniversary getaway on Lake Erie. We were very pleased we choose Abigail's Lakeside Cottage to stay. The property is BEAUTIFUL, cottage very clean and cute, and the owners are great! Even though it was off season and the strip was closed down during the week, there was still plenty to do through the State Park Lodge about a mile down the street. We rented bikes from the lodge and rode on the bike trails, took a Cover Bridge Tour, and a Wine Tour. We still had plenty of time to relax, read a book, and take nap on the cottage beach side lounge chairs. We had our morning coffee in the gazebo overlooking the lake, lunch and dinner in our screened in porch with a lake view, and had a fire going in the firepit watching the sun set at night. One of the best getaways we've had. We'll be back!
My husband and I spent a wonderful week at Abigail's. This is an ideal getaway location because you have so much close by - beaches, restaurants and food vendors, gift shops, wineries, golf - it's all there! And our cottage was just perfect - very clean, nice accomodations and a lake view to boot! It was also very charming. This is a great place to truly relax. We enjoyed being able to run around, or just sit by the lake. We also appreciated the no pet, no smoking policy (due to our allergies). You can tell that Abigail has put alot of thought and care into the cottages and the location. Thanks Abby, for a perfect vacation! We'll be back next year!
Our stay in the two bedroom cottage closest to the shore was great. It was immaculate and fresh. The website pictures are accurate! We loved seeing the lake from our screened porch, living room and kitchen. We suggest visiting the nearby state park with a great beach and walking trail and of course local wineries. We spent a day in nearby Cleveland going to the West Side Market. We also enjoyed walking to get donuts on the strip at 7:00 AM and taking them to the lake with our coffee to begin the day.
Support Abby's recent purchase and renovation efforts. You will be greatly pleased!
My sisters, friends and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Abigail's Lakeside Cottages during a weekend trip to Geneva on the Lake. The cottage itself was comfortable and quaint, with beautiful quilts on the beds and an updated kitchen and dining area. We stayed in one of the larger cabins and it was quite comfortable for the 7 of us that spent nights there. It is conveniently located and within walking distance of all the attractions on the strip, as well as the nearby park. We enjoyed grilling out with the beautiful backdrop of the sunset over Lake Erie. One tip for larger groups- if you are all traveling separately from different locations, as we were, finding parking can be difficult on a busy summer weekend. Plan to come early in the day so that you'll be able to find a space. Thank you, Abigail, for the attention you've given your properties and for a great weekend getaway!
