Terrific location

My husband and I found this little room-with-bath perfect for our needs while in Melbourne for the tennis matches and tourist-ing. It was clean and comfortable (for no more than two, as advertised), and very close to public transportation, which we used all the time. It was also within a few blocks' walking distance of the downtown, the waterfront (think upscale restaurants and outlet malls), and the funky, thoroughly enjoyable neighborhood of North Melbourne--a great place to find good food, an excellent WiFi cafe/bar (and the library, whose WiFi is adequate, but not as good), a coin-op laundry, dry cleaners, and some fine breakfast places. I recommend transportation day passes--the free trolley is fun, but limited in territory, and if you want to go farther afield, the train, trams and buses will be a great help. Didn't use the bikes, but they're easy to find.
Lena and Anton are very good hosts; they oriented us well to the area, and gave us good suggestions for places of interest. Check out Victoria Market, take the free tour of Federation Square (it will turn your impression of the architecture from simply weird to brilliant-but-weird), go to St. Kilda on the tram from town. There's a lot to see in and around Melbourne; we spent every day of our week out and about and still didn't cover half of it.

Owner's Response: We are delighted that Sue and Paul used the bedroom/ ensuite location to its best advantage- as a comfortable well appointed base to discover not only our neighbourhood and city but suburbs further afield. The convenience of the station- a stroll form the front door certainly made travel plans easy. The eateries and other facilities in and around the precinct ensure that busy travellers needs are catered to. Harder working tourists would be hard to come across as our guests were up and out every day exploring and tourist-ing- and as always depart with their "to do" lists partly achieved.A pleasure to meet these New Yorkers!
