Beach Front Cottage Lubbers Quarters Abaco Sleeps 5

Green Bananas is an amazing escape and we will always remember our recent stay. Our family of four researched cottages throughout Abaco for months before selecting Green Bananas. The time we invested paid off. We were looking for something directly on a beach (so the kids could play within sight and easy reach), something with a dock (for both keeping our boat and for fishing off of when it was windy) and something quaint and memorable (after all we wanted to feel like we were on a small out island). Green Bananas delivered on all counts.

The cottage is directly on a small protected white sand beach. Our girls literally lived on the beach. We saw conch and starfish in the water right in front of the house. They enjoyed playing in the water, jumping off the dock and swinging in the hammock. The dock was perfect for safely housing our boat and for catching fish. We caught snapper off the end and even hooked a couple of sharks.

The house itself is absolutely awesome. It is one of the cutest cottages in the entire area. It has a big back porch with both adirondack chairs for relaxing and a higher set of chairs and bar for enjoying a drink or eating. Inside, there is a master bedroom downstairs and a loft upstairs. Our girls loved climbing the ladder to the loft. The decor is adorable- think Tommy Bahama meets an old wooden ship. We loved all the windows and fresh air which kept the house amazingly cool even in late June.

We live in a very nice waterfront home in South Florida and usually stay at pretty high-end hotels. However, on our trip to paradise we were not looking for an estate or the Ritz. Green Bananas is immaculate and has a great quaint feel--we really felt like we lived in the islands for a week. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. There is both an inside bathroom and an outdoor shower and sink (we all loved showering outside in the fresh air!). There were lots of books and games.

We loved being disconnected from our busy and demanding lives (although the house does have fast WIFI which we tried not to use). Lubbers is a great island for families. There are a couple of very good restaurants and lots of trails and beaches for exploring.

Lastly, we appreciated the amazing attention from the owner of the home. From the moment we expressed an interest in booking through the week after we left, she answered all of our questions and ensured we had a great stay. We are already talking about going back!
