We were warmly greeted by Eva and David, who gave us a tour of all the attributes of the home and property. We enjoyed all the comforts of home and started each day by having coffee on the deck and marveling at the incredible views and spending afternoons hiking the many trails in the area and visiting family. We have stayed at many places in the area, but this home surpassed the others by a significant margin. It is a perfect place to enjoy the beauty of the area. Thanks Eva and David for making your home available to us. We will definitely be back!
We had an excellent holiday at Seapoint & would endorse all the reviews, photos & the description.
Seapoint is the ideal place for a relaxing vacation in the south of Vancouver Island but if you also want to go out it is excellently placed to explore this end of the island.
Situated at the end of a very quiet road, the accommodation was excellent with all mod. cons & a warm welcome from Mr & Mrs Towner.
The wide, elevated, view over the Saanich Inlet from the windows, deck, garden or hot tub is ideal to watch the world go by, both human & animal.
Coming from the U.K. we found the jetlag worked to our great advantage, making an early start to the day very easy. We would eat breakfast while watching the sun rise across the Inlet & the wildlife leaving their night-time roosts.
Seapoint has quick access to the Trans-Canada Highway (which cannot be heard) for visits up the coast to Nanaimo & inland to Port Alberni, the waterfronts of which are both well worth a visit, & “Nanaimo Bars” are well worth trying (diet later!).
Going south, there is quick access to the attractions of Victoria (Royal B.C. Museum & the waterfront) and the south coast along the Juan de Fuca Strait to Port Renfrew.
If you like trees, the round trip Mill Bay - Sooke - Port Renfrew - Lake Cowichan - Duncan - Mill Bay is very easy, now hard surface all the way, & you get to see plenty of trees & mountains.
If you like history, the British Columbia Aviation Museum at Sidney has a comprehensive collection of aircraft & a display of the time in WW2 when Pat Bay (as Victoria International was known then) was part of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan. - http://www.bcam.net/
All we have to do now is work out when we can return!!!
Pictures cannot do this place justice! Coming from London UK, we found it the perfect launch-pad to explore Vancouver Island. So different from the city, a wonderfully secluded location, but only a short drive for food, shopping and highway. Astounding panoramic views with plenty of seals and other wildlife to watch during breakfast. After sundown, watch the fireworks after dark across the inlet. Well worth getting up early to view the sunrise over the mountains with the bald eagles soaring overhead scooping impossibly large fish from the ocean. A usefully placed humming bird feeder ensured we got to watch the many tiny creatures close-up. My wife and I plus two older teenagers found the property equipped to a high standard, spacious and well designed for our needs and particularly liked having a lounge on each level. The delightful garden with its many places to sit and chill was also much appreciated. It was with regret when we had to leave via the ferry that sails across the inlet and literally wave the house goodbye. We would thoroughly recommend.
We spent a wonderful week at Seapoint, enjoying the wildlife (seals and birds galore!) and boats floating by. We watched the Butchart Gardens fireworks from the yard and had a ton of fun exploring the area. There are tons of activities withing 20 minutes of the house and, if you don't want to do anything, the house has everything you need to relax and enjoy West Coast living. The house is great, very clean and with all amenities you would want in your own home. We would definitely like to do two weeks next time!
We are thoroughly enjoying every aspect of seapoint. We have had absolutely wonderful weather. This is exactly what we wanted, a great break from the hot, dry summer in Utah.
We hiked several trails in the area. Yesterday, we hiked just up the road west of the highway. It was so beautiful, we tasted the wild raspberries, saw all kinds of wildlife and even a black bear. It looked like a larger cub and we didn't see the mama, so we turned around at that point. We walked along the beach and saw a deer right on the beach, wow! We will find it hard to leave tomorrow. This is paradise!
Thanks so much for allowing us to share a small part of your beautiful home and country. We will certainly plan to come back.
