Such A Rich Experience

There are rental properties, and then there are clean, well-lighted place rental properties, but I never expected to feel so much at home anywhere as I have this past 4th-of-July week. It's not just that the place was immaculate and so fully as advertised, although it certainly was.
It was not even the gorgeous mountain views off the front and back decks (three if you count the one cleverly painted across the storage building) or the fact that the town of West Jefferson is one of my favorite places.
It was not just the signs of a life devoted to a love of good food, good drink and entertainment all through the place, although the kitchen offered such cookery options that I ended up wishing I was there for a month and feeding a family.
It's that every corner and shelf radiated a life well lived, a family loved and celebrated, exotic places seen and shared, and friendships so obviously deep and resonating. I felt immersed all week in real human warmth, even though I was visiting solo and for the first time at Marian Manor.
And my hostess was readily available for any and all questions I had about the many amenities provided, via e-mail, so I now feel that I have not only a new favorite haunt for future stays, but a new and true friend as well.
I honestly don't give a lot of A+s, but cheers to Maid Marian; may her Manor stand for many seasons to serve other vistors as well as it has me!
