***** My family loved every minute at this beautiful home. The views were amazing! The house was roomy and spacious. There were 8 adults and 3 children and there was plenty of room to gather together and also plenty of room to spread out and have some privacy. We took family pictures in the back yard with the beautiful mountain views in the background. My grandchildren were also pleased they could hear the train whistle from Tweetsie Railroad in the background. The house is also convenient to many activities in Boone and Blowing Rock. Deborrah, the owner, is very friendly, helpful and made us feel so welcome in her beautiful home. The only problem I can report was having to leave this wonderful home! I hope to visit again in the future and would highly recommend!
My family had another great week-long visit earlier this year. Despite it being the middle of summer -- July -- Mountain Top Manor remained cool and pleasant. The home makes for a very comfortable launching pad for all the hiking we like to do along the Blue Ridge Parkway and nearby Grandfather Mountain. Deborrah is always a pleasure to work with. If I experience any issues with the home (rare) she is quick to get them resolved. The home is just a short ride to the Parkway, Blowing Rock, and Boone. We're planning on returning next summer.
We selected MTM for a lengthy family reunion/vacation based upon the very complete descriptions and photos provided on VRBO. Even so, we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival! Actually before then, we had frequent, timely and helpful communications with owner Deborrah.
The property was in very good shape, very clean, expansive lawns and landscaping well-maintained, and well-furnished and -equipped. When we did encounter very small and quite normal maintenance issues, the owners' representative was wonderfully responsive. Deborrah kept in touch throughout our sojourn and was genuinely interested to assure our good experience.
We knew the area (and its many activities and restaurants) but there was lots of information in the house to guide a new visitor. We were anxious to escape the summer heat of the flatlands, and boy did MTM meet that need. We noted July daytime highs of 68-70 degrees at our 4200-feet altitude, while our hometown was experiencing 90's.
The setting and convenience (so near Blue Ridge Parkway, Blowing Rock, Boone),the views, and the quality of the house are five-star; our only rationale to rate as four derives from the age of the home and a few not-yet-updated bathrooms, and some mattresses past their prime. Wish there was a 4.6.
We would definitely return, gladly.
My family recently rented Mountain Top Manor (MTM), the last week in July, 2012. We were familiar with the area because we had rented another nearby home two years prior. MTM is on the highest point of Aho Mountain, just a few miles northeast of Blowing Rock. It is a five minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and about 15 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock. The road leading to the house is entirely paved and a nice, easy drive.
MTM is a spacious, well-appointed home with comfortable beds and wonderful panoramic mountain views. The photos posted by the owners on VRBO are accurate. We found the home to be a welcome retreat after our days of hiking and shopping in the area. Sitting out on the deck as the sun set over the mountains was a treat.
During our week we saw a deer, a fox, and numerous rabbits on the expansive property. Although MTM is located in a neighborhood, it feels very secluded and private. There is no nearby house on the left or right of the property. No traffic noise could be heard, only an occasional whistle from the nearby Tweetsie Railroad – a welcome reminder of our earlier years visiting that children’s attraction.
Despite warm summer temperatures in North Carolina in general, the weather in Blowing Rock was comfortable, never exceeding 75. MTM tended to be a few degrees cooler than Blowing Rock.
The large driveway and covered entrance made the unpacking and packing of our cars a breeze, regardless of the weather.
We prepared picnic lunches for most days, and fixed dinner most nights at MTM. A Food Lion is conveniently located about 10 minutes away. The kitchen is large and well-stocked.
Having rented many vacation homes in the past, I have to say that MTM represents the best value of any home I have rented. Deborrah was easy to work with, quick to answer any questions I had.
The day we departed MTM it had rained overnight. The skies were especially clear at dawn. There was a blanket of fog covering the low-lying areas down below. It looked to us as if we were looking out the window of an airplane. It was a magical experience I will not soon forget.
OUR FAMILY STAYED AT MOUNTAINTOP MANOR IN FEB OF 2010. WE HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME AND LOOK FORWARD TO GOING BACK ASAP. GREAT LOCATION, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING, IT FELT LIKE HOME. IT WAS A PLEASURE DOING BUSINESS WITH THE OWNER DEBORAH, AND WE THANK HER FOR MAKING OUR STAY AT "MTM" A MEMORABLE ONE!
This house is absolutely beautiful with everything you'll need for 4 days, a week, or a month. This home is big enough for a large family. Two seperate areas, up and down. There was just my husband and myself, but we could have taken several people with us, and would not have been crowded. Already looking forward to a return visit. Wish the weather had been better, but we were able to enjoy two beautiful days. Views are terrific..........................!!!! I would highly recommend this property to anyone,.
The owners were so helpful. So if you're trying to decide, don't hesitate to rent this property.
