'Mountain Top Manor' w/Million$ Views! 1st Visit Special

My family recently rented Mountain Top Manor (MTM), the last week in July, 2012. We were familiar with the area because we had rented another nearby home two years prior. MTM is on the highest point of Aho Mountain, just a few miles northeast of Blowing Rock. It is a five minute drive from the Blue Ridge Parkway, and about 15 minutes from downtown Blowing Rock. The road leading to the house is entirely paved and a nice, easy drive.
MTM is a spacious, well-appointed home with comfortable beds and wonderful panoramic mountain views. The photos posted by the owners on VRBO are accurate. We found the home to be a welcome retreat after our days of hiking and shopping in the area. Sitting out on the deck as the sun set over the mountains was a treat.
During our week we saw a deer, a fox, and numerous rabbits on the expansive property. Although MTM is located in a neighborhood, it feels very secluded and private. There is no nearby house on the left or right of the property. No traffic noise could be heard, only an occasional whistle from the nearby Tweetsie Railroad – a welcome reminder of our earlier years visiting that children’s attraction.
Despite warm summer temperatures in North Carolina in general, the weather in Blowing Rock was comfortable, never exceeding 75. MTM tended to be a few degrees cooler than Blowing Rock.
The large driveway and covered entrance made the unpacking and packing of our cars a breeze, regardless of the weather.
We prepared picnic lunches for most days, and fixed dinner most nights at MTM. A Food Lion is conveniently located about 10 minutes away. The kitchen is large and well-stocked.
Having rented many vacation homes in the past, I have to say that MTM represents the best value of any home I have rented. Deborrah was easy to work with, quick to answer any questions I had.
The day we departed MTM it had rained overnight. The skies were especially clear at dawn. There was a blanket of fog covering the low-lying areas down below. It looked to us as if we were looking out the window of an airplane. It was a magical experience I will not soon forget.
