Overview

Carnelian Bay Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

We invite you to enjoy our warm cabin get-a-way ~ A perfect location for enjoying all things special about Lake Tahoe! We are 7 minutes from shopping in Tahoe City, 15 minutes from Squaw Valley or Northstar and only a 2 block walk to lake's edge. The cabin backs to forest land so step out the back door for miles of hiking, cross country skiing or snowshoeing. In this classic Tahoe cabin you can build a cozy wood fire or drift off to sleep in plush down covered beds. Big fluffy towels are ready for you in the 2 bathrooms and the kitchen is fully stocked if you chose to cook a big meal. On the cook's night off, you can walk down to famous Gar Woods Restaurant and sip an afternoon cocktail on their open air deck. For more causal dining you must try the calzones at CB's Pizza.

Our cabin can sleep 6-10 of your crew! A bath and 2 bedrooms are downstairs with a full bed and a queen bed. Climb up the quaint wooden stairway to find the kids bunk space with 3 singles. The master bedroom is also upstairs with a wonderfully soft King-size bed and a second bath. If other friends join you last minute, pull out the comfy convertible bed in the living room.

While the cabin is cozy for couples, it's a great space for families too. The bunkroom is a favorite for kids with plush bedding and small woodland critter stuffies on each bed to snuggle with. A nice open space in the middle of the floor is a great place to play board games or build Lego creations (Legos included!)

Downstairs you will find a game table with many choices including classics like chess, checkers & backgammon, and kids favorites such as I Spy and Cranium. The living room also holds a flat-screen TV with satellite and DVD player including a nice selection of movies for the entire family.

Outside the cabin there is a big, beautiful deck off the front with peek views of the lake. The sunrise from this deck cannot be missed! You can see the amber sunrise reflected beautifully on the lake. In the backyard you will find there is just enough of an incline to make a small sledding area for the littlest ones -- and don't forget the miles of woods to discover!

Welcome to your classic Tahoe vacation! We are holding a space for your family memories.

About The Owner

Texas meets Tahoe. We are an active family with 4 young kiddos from Austin, Texas. We have loved Tahoe for many years and this cabin is part of our family dream. Two of our favorite sports are snowboarding and rock climbing--both are great in Tahoe!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2011

Why The Owner chose Carnelian Bay

Carnelian Bay is a beautiful area of Lake Tahoe. We have been coming to the northwest corner of the lake since 1997. The people are friendly and very interested in all things outdoors! This corner so centrally located to many things we love including snowboarding, activities in Tahoe City and rafting the Truckee River. Being so close to Highway 267, we like that it is easy to get to and from Reno Airport especially when you get some last minute snow!

What makes this cabin unique

This cabin feels like home. It is so cozy and laid back. My favorite vision is waking up on 'Texas time' to catch the morning sunrise. The first time I saw it I was amazed by the amber colors reflecting off the lake. It is so peaceful here.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Linda,

I just wanted to let you know that we all loved your cabin. It was the perfect Tahoe getaway. Old Tahoe charm with the cozy comforts you've added made for a delightful weekend. It will most likely be the last time for a while my group will getaway as a family and we made very happy memories to take with us. Thank you very much and I'm sure we will be calling again for future trips in summer. Take care.

Wonderful weekend getaway for the offseason

  • 5 of 5
This is a charming cabin, ideally situated for hikes and a brief walk to the lake. We brought our lab and loved being able to head for a 6 mile hilly loop trail right off the back porch with a picnic at Sawmill lake. We also really enjoyed the pebble beach lake (dog and children friendly), 7 minute walk and in some ways a little more clean than a normal beach as there was no sand. Water shoes, Vibrams, or the like make for a more comfortable jaunt, though there are plenty of sandy beaches just a brief drive away.

The cabin was cozy, towels, floor heaters, and plenty of blankets enjoy. Incredible sandwich shop (we're sandwich snobs) moments away in King's Beach, and a nearby Safeway for a few grocery items. All positive.

The ceiling on the second floor was quirky, albeit my 6'2" husband had to be careful to mind his head in a few places. I thought it was a clever use of space. Our only request/suggestion would be for blinds or drapes to be installed at some point to help with privacy in the evening with the lights on indoors.

Overall, would definitely stay here again; the location and charm sold us.

Owner's Response: We so love hearing how others have enjoyed our cabin! Our future guests and even us learn more ways to enjoy the area through the experiences our guests they have had! Although the cabin is tucked away a bit, up a small hill from the road, we will definitely look into a window covering on the picture window for the comfort of our guests. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

Adorable Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5
This is our second stay at this lovely cabin and we are glad we returned for another visit. It is well appointed with everything a family needs in a rental, from spices, hot cocoa and coffee/tee in the cabinets to cuddly stuffed animals and toys for the children. The owner has achieved the vintage look with her well thought out decor. The beds are complete with down comforters and high quality sheets and comfy mattresses. I slept exceptionally well! The cabin backs up to the forest and the views of the sun shining through the pine trees was a welcome sight. We enjoyed the fire pit on the deck and roasted smores. Our labradors were in doggy heaven and enjoyed the special treats the owner supplies! The weekend didn't go quite go as planned due to the smoke from the King fire (triathlon was cancelled), but we cozied up in the cabin, played games and spent quality family time. We appreciated all the thoughtful touches making this cabin a home away from home. We will return soon! The Blanchards

Great place for a family!

  • 5 of 5
We recently stayed at this home for my husband's birthday. It was so perfectly located. We walked to the beach, mini golf, and to the yummy restaurant Garwoods. My son woke up in the middle of the night with a bad cough, and 7-11 was right around the corner, open 24 hours, for me to get him some medicine. We cooked many meals there, the kitchen had everything that we needed. We had such a wonderful weekend, I would love to go back.

A cozy home away from home

  • 4 of 5
We booked this property last minute, and enjoyed a perfect weekend at Lake Tahoe. The home has a rustic, cabin feel, but that is definitely part of the charm. It is clearly owned by a close-knit family, and hence, does not feel like a rental property. It is fully stocked and a short walk to the lake. The only reason I'm not giving this property 5 stars is because the upstairs bedrooms have very low ceilings and angles on which we bumped our heads several times.

Winter Fun!

  • 5 of 5
Recently returned from a month stay at this pefect cabin. It felt like home. The cabin has lovely large windows looking out the expansive deck, which gives the cabin a very open and sunny feel, while maintaining a cozy atmosphere. The location is perfect, very easy access – but still felt remote enough. Cell phone coverage was excellent ( there was strong coverage for both Verizon and ATT ) and the cable and wifi in the cabin were very reliable, even in a snow storm ? . The beds were super cozy, and the sheets, blankets, pillows , towels etc were all top quality and plentiful! lovely personal touches though out the home – it is a well loved and taken care of cabin and I really enjoyed my month escape ( and despite the lower snow fall levels Feb, I found the mts all still had very good skiing! ) .

Enjoy Tahoe the way it USED to be....

  • 4 of 5
My family chose this vintage cabin for our annual New Years trip. It was like visiting a friend. There were personal touches everywhere, including a Christmas tree and decorations. It was exactly as represented in the listing. We were close to everything. We had a wonderful stay.
