We live in Portland Oregon with our 4 young children. We moved to American in 1995 from the UK and fell in love with the Pacific North West!
Tracy Kelly purchased this house in 2010
We fell in love with Orcas Island during a trip 14 years ago. 3 years ago we purchased the land on this amazing lot and set about building our dream vacation home. We wanted to build a house that our 4 children can grow up with and we can build wonderful memories in. One day we would like to retire here.
This place allows our children to have some of the freedoms we experienced growing up. Exploring the resort, searching the beach for pirate treasure and swimming until your skin turns wrinkely. We love to feed the deer at the door step, walk around the marina and chat to the boaters, visit Cascade lake (5 min drive) and kayak, sunbath and swim. Kayak around the bay. Visit Eastsound. Hike the many trails around the island.
We had an incredible stay on Orcas Island. The house was amazing, clean, and had everything we needed for our stay. Great for kids and the layout was perfect for cooking and hanging out! We walked around the area and were close to Moran State Park for hiking and Eastsound for poking around. We had a fabulous time!
We had an absolutely amazing time here. We played ping pong for hours and explored the island until we needed to come back to this cozy home to put our sore dogs up. Beautifully appointed home, even took some inspirational pics for our home from here. Location, location, location.....just a jaunt from town and a stroll to the historic resort. The only thing that you need to know is there truly is no cable which is not such a bad thing unless you are an avid Thanksgiving football game or Macy's parade viewer. Again, not the end of the world but just a heads up. We LOVED our stay and will be back again very soon!!!! Felt very at home!
I rented this place for my family flying into town for my wedding at Rosario, and they could not have been more pleased. The house was beautiful, in impeccable shape, had wifi (which is a must on Orcas), and was stocked with games, movies, ping pong, etc. -The house is on a hill just north of the resort mansion and has amazing views and a nice open floor plan. Additionally, the wall between the deck and living room daisy chains open for a great indoor/outdoor living experience. -The owner was very friendly and responsive as well.
We had a lovely weekend on Orcas Island. The house was very clean and well equipped. We enjoyed the easy walk to the water and the resort. We really appreciated being able to bring our dog! We had lots of bald eagle sitings, and we spent some time kayaking in the bay and at Moran State Park. Everything about the rental was simple and well organized.
The pictures don't do the house and view justice. It is a really beautiful clean and comfortable contemporary house. We had our teenager boys and Mom & Dad with us. The accomodations were perfect with 2 king bedded rooms with ensuite bathrooms. the boys ended up staying in the loft upstairs -- so we realized we each had our own floor! The indoor outdoor living was great with sunshine and when it got cooler, there are floor to ceiling windows with a fireplace to cozy up to.
Rosario Resort is right there so the kids could play shuffleboard, swim, tetherball and we enjoyed a nice breakfast at Rosario one morning and a little lounge time with live music. There is also a grill by the outdoor pool now which serves yummy food and offers beer growler fills to take back to the house. The Moran State Park has a hiking trail system and it connects to the Rosario so you could literaly fly in by seaplane and have tons to do without even getting in a car.
Absolutely perfect stay. We will be going back!
We had a fabulous time at your house on Orcas. The house was beautiful and the pictures don't do it justice. My husband and I were travelling with our 2 daughters/husbands/granddaughter and dogs - it was the perfect place to spread out. The huge deck was perfect for the dogs and the baby to be safe while we were indoors making dinner and playing board games! We walked a lot and my daughters and I went across the street to the spa for a facial on the Sunday. We watched the boats go in and out from the deck and the helicopter land in front of the house a few times. House is well stocked and a playpen was even supplied for our 2 year old to sleep in. The table tennis table was a big hit as well. We even had deer come up to us in the garden and eat out our hands. We took a trip into town and walked the streets checking out the little shops. We did not do a lot of sightseeing as it was a well needed "downtime" trip for all of us! The owner was very helpful and accommodating. Thanks for sharing your lovely house. We hope to be back some day.
