Please do not let the 3 star rating effect your choice before reading this review. Sandy, the property owner was a pleasure to work with. She was very helpful and accommodating, even leaving us a welcome fruit basket for us to enjoy!
There were plenty of extras in the home such as toothbrushes, shampoo, condiments, sugar and coffee in case you left something behind. The only problem was a lack of tableware for 6, which in speaking with Sandy she said she would replenish because she was not aware of missing items.
The home was beautifully decorated with sea shells and glassware. This is where my problem arose. I am a mother of 4 with a 15 month old, 6, 9 & 10 year old. This presented a problem and made my stay very stressful. I was constantly moving the things that I could out of reach, or monitoring my younger children's every move to make sure they did not break anything. So if you have younger children please take this into consideration.
Lastly, the master bed was very uncomfortable, noisy and the frame was propped up to try to make it level. I think it is time for a replacement. Also the shower upstairs is great if you're under 5' tall, and the shower on the main level is very small (luckily we are all thin people).
All and all our stay was pleasant. We were less than 20 minutes to many attractions, and had the lake 1 block from our front door. Sandy was a pleasure to work with, and called to make sure things were fine.
I would not hesitate to refer or rent from her in the future, of course as long as I prepare to bring childproofing items.
Owner's Response: I was very happy with the suggestions that this renter mentioned to me. I always make sure I talk to them when they arrive and also after they leave. When she told me of the problems about child proofing I appreciated it because that is someting that never entered my mind. In the future I will tell the property manager to move everything up high if there are small children present. There is a rolling trolley with glass dishes on that they moved onto the side porch. As far as the upstairs bed frame is concerned, I am working on having that replaced.
The shower upstairs is shoter than most but I have plans to raise the ceiling in the spring. I always welcome feed back and I will keep a book at the house so guests can write down any suggestions or needs to bring to my attention!
