I grew up in Lewiston and love this unique border town so steeped in rich history. Lewiston is a little hamlet very close to Niagara Falls and was burned down in the War of 1812.. I know everything about this area , past and present and love interacting with my guests. I try very hard to not only welcome them but am intent on learning and guiding them to having the best vacation they could possibly have.

Sandy Yates purchased this house in 2008

This is a wonderful property. The neighborhood is so quiet and friendly. It is only 3 streets of small houses and cottages with the wonder of Lake Ontario, right there in your back yard. Ot os a very special place and one can't help but bond and relax while there. It is so close to all the action, but yet it is wonderful to come home to peace and tranquility. !

There are so many benefits, it is hard to know where to start. The lake front is just. a few steps away from the house. Although it is private to only the residents of this small community, it is like having your own private lake because there is seldom anyone at the lakefront. There is a wonderful spacious living room with a wrap around couch that is so perfect for visiting with family and friends. I love dogs and even offer an extra service in which I can watch your dog with tender loving care, if you decide to take a long day trip to Canada or elsewhere. .

Home away from home

We came to Lewiston because our parents wanted to see Niagara Falls. We decided to celebrate their 60 years of marriage and our fathers 79 birthday. When we arrived we found our "Home Away from Home". There were 4 of us and two dogs and plenty of space for all of us. It was fully furnished and charmingly decorated. Sandy thought of everything from shampoo to laundry detergent; from salt to coffee filters. Sandy even had pastries and water upon our arrival...Just like a mom would. Lewiston was located at the heart of everything we planned for our vacation.
The day after we arrived, our Father suffered a stroke and had to be hospitalized. Sandy was a God send. I called Sandy and told her what had happened and she provided information for the nearest hospital, She gave us information on where to get his handicap sticker. She stayed in constant contact with us checking on his condition. We would have been lost without her help and knowledge of the area, which was invaluable. We will always be indebted to her. She has continued to stay in touch checking on his condition.
When our father left the hospital we returned to Sandy's for a few days so Dad could rest. It was a perfect retreat...it was so peaceful. We would walk him down to the lake. He would sit on the bench and watch the sailboats.
Sandy referred us to several destinations in the area that did not disappoint us.
From restaurants, entertainment and even to fishing charters, Sandy left no stone unturned. She literally thought of everything to make our stay memorable. Even with the situation with our father, we will never forget this trip, and we were still able to take our parents to Niagara.
We have mentioned her home as a perfect getaway for a quiet, peaceful, beautiful memory...which is what a vacation is all about. We plan to return and when we do, we will definitely check to see the availability of her place.
We know if we don't, it will be booked. We loved being only a few steps from beautiful Lake Ontario. We walked several of it's banks. We could also see Toronto on the horizon. What else could you ask for in a vacation. Sandy was the perfect host during our stay in upstate New York.

Quaint cottage in a lovely area provided a great "home base" to travel to Buffalo, Lewiston, Niagra Falls (Canadian and American). We had a wonderful time. Sandy the owner is very helpful and responsive. The grill didn't work when we got there and we had a new grill within hours!

Very Pleasant Retreat

This is a very nice, well equipped cottage that is warm and inviting. Upon our arrival we had fresh raspberry tarts waiting for us which I thought was a nice touch. The house offers all the amenities of home and makes for a very relaxing stay. The living room is very spacious and comfortable with a reading area which is very nice. The pictures and books within the house gives you so much history to the area you can't wait to go and explore! Since only my husband and I went with our dog we only used the ground floor but the upstairs had a very beautiful bedroom and bath with more books and games!

It is just yards from the lake and Fort Niagara is very close by with a wonderful park and many things to do. The drive to the Falls is very nice and only about 20 mins. The Devil's Hole and Whirlpool parks are along the way with some great views and hiking trails. Youngstown and Lewiston are both nice little towns close by with some wonderful little restaurants, shops and bakeries.

The owner, Sandy, and I were in contact with each other a couple of times before our arrival date and she sent me wonderful information on events in the area during our stay. She went way beyond her role to make our stay pleasant. She is a delight to do business with and really aims to please.

I highly recommend this wonderful cottage to anyone that likes the feel of home away from home. It is quiet and relaxing and if you didn't want to go out and explore, it is filled with so many books, movies, games and other interesting things you could spend the entire time "at home".

Thanks Sandy for making our first trip to Niagara Falls such a wonderful one! It will not be our last!

We were very disappointed in this property!!! It was not what was represented. It was very old and had no view of the lake. It had a sun porch that had a view of the neighbors junkie backyard and there was a note not to raise the windows in this room???? There was no door on the downstairs bedroom that was next to the kitchen it only had a curtain. There were no doors on any of the closets, the ceiling going upstairs was very low as well as the ceiling in the upstairs bathroom a 6 ft tall man could not stand up while shaving. The washer was in the bathroom with no light over it, the dryer was in another part of the house. One burner on the stove did not work and the refrigerator door did not close properly, the coffee pot had a chip out of the front of the pouring lip, the light fixture over table 2 shade did not match and the other one had no shade. There were signs everywhere telling us what not to do! Only 1 TV. We had to get towels out the dryer to use. We were charged a clean up fee and were asked to put towels in washer and take out garbage???? Shower on 1st floor very small .
The rental price on this property is way too high for what is offered the house is very old and run down.
Owner's Response: I was stunned by the negativity of this review. I considered every complaint and kept an open mind. I am taking positive steps to fix things that need to be fixed such a s coffee pot, bedroom door and windows on side porch. This is an older house that I have poured a lot of TLC into and quality remodeling. Updating items is an on going job and I try to stay on top of things. Damage does occur as guest go in and out . For instance, a guest with a handicapped family member took the bedroom door off the hinges and the door was damaged. A new one is being replaced but has to be specially ordered for the size of the doorway. The front porch looks out onto a beautiful chalet type small house.. There is one hoarder in this otherwise pristine quiet neighborhood and I have invested a large sum of money planting privacy bushes to block that view. Across the street from the hoarders home is a 22 room mansion. The dryer is not in another part of the house. It is a few steps away from the washer. The lake front is spectacular if you take the time to walk 15 seconds to sit and take in the view. The view is stunning, private and a treasure. There is not a lake view from the house itself . I have taken much thought and care in displaying tasteful photographs of the local area, and making this home welcoming, bright and unique . There are plans to raise the small section of ceiling in the upstairs bedroom and bathroom , which is a very expensive undertaking but this is not the main living area. The downstairs shower is very accomodating and the living room is spacious. with many books, wifi, dvds and games.. These guests had a discount because I paid the taxes at the time they stayed. There were 4 people. If you are looking for a brand new home, this is not for you. This is a house with character which is beautifully decorated . I pay close attention to the needs of all my guests and check in with them when they arrive.. If there is anything they need at all, it is promptly replaced, such as a chipped coffee pot. When I contacted this guest after their his departure, I made a point of treating him with dignity and sincerity. I apologized for the the flaws he focused on. After speaking briefly with him he hung up on me in the middle of my sentence. I believe a new hotel room would have been a better choice for them !

The house is located in a quiet but friendly neighborhood. The common areas by the lake, which are just next to the house, offer a beautiful view of the Lake and Toronto in the distance. The location is also convenient to exploring the entire Niagara area.
