Location, Location, Location! You cant beat it! The PERFECT Apres' Ski destination. Right in the heart of the greatly improved village of North Creek. This quaint Victorian cottage is just steps away from the ever popular Cafe' Sarah on Main Street, as well as the brand new Bar Vino Wine Bar, restaurants and shopping, all are just a very short walk from our home (Save on GAS). Just around the corner, is the newly developed ski bowl, which includes a snow tubing park and night skiing. This is also the area that now connects with the historic Burnt Ridge ski area and the rest of Gore Mountain.
Other close by attractions: In addition to downhill skiing, cross country trails are close by, or a short drive to many miles of trails at Garnet Lake. North Creek is also home to the Saratoga North Creek Railroad, which offers scenic train rides along the majestic Hudson River all the way to Saratoga, all season long. Don't miss the ' Polar Express' show on the train this winter. What an incredible ride during any season. The village is also home to many white water rafting companies, hiking trails, kayaking and the Barton Garnet Mines. Don't miss the train museum at the depot!
The House: This Queen Ann Cottage features three bedrooms, one has two full size beds and a TV, one has a queen size bed, a full size bed and a TV, and the other has a full size bed, all are on the second floor. There are also two full baths, one of which has a whirlpool tub. There is a fully equipped kitchen that is open to the dinning room, a living room with cable TV and and Apple TV. There is also a laundry/mud room for all your gear, and a beautiful wrap around porch with chairs to enjoy the view of Main Street and the mountains. If you like architecture, this house has plenty of details to enjoy, from the quarter sawn oak staircase with oak paneled walls, to the stained glass windows or the beautiful inlaid parquet floors and the antique coal burning fireplace (please burn wood only).

The Ski Village Victorian has lots of great character and was a great option for our long weekend getaway. The fireplace was very enjoyable and beds were very comfortable, enhanced by the flannel sheets provided. The kitchen is well equipped and we also took advantage of the in-house washer and dryer. Thanks to Rich for his responsive and customer service. We enjoyed going to Basil and Wick's restaurant , so would recommend that to anyone staying in the area.
Had a blast with my wife and two boys staying here and skiing Gore.
Warm with lots of room and right in town a mile from the mountain.
Hot coffee across the street each morning at 7am and Tapas and Wine
steps away each evening. Awesome!
Our 2 families stayed in this charming Victorian for a ski vacation on the coldest days so far this year. It is an older home, but well-maintained, with updated bathrooms and new refrigerator. Our only issue was that the heat was not evenly distributed through the house, with some rooms extremely warm, and others much colder, but there are fans and portable heaters throughout the house to alleviate some of that, and Rich, the owner, left plenty of firewood too. I'm sure the fact that we had 2 days of temperatures below 0 didn't help either. The house is equipped with wifi and Apple TV, so we were well-entertained. There were 2 additional TVs upstairs, which helped when the kids wanted to do their own thing.
But the home's location is what made our trip so memorable. It is right in the heart of the North Creek business district, less than half a block from Tops Supermarket and some wonderful eateries. The two we tried, barVino and Cafe Sarah, were fabulous. The shuttle bus stop to the Gore Mountain Ski Area is across the street in front of the Alpine Lodge, which meant no scrambling around in ski boots with our gear from the parking lot. We literally walked out the door with our ski gear and were skiing within minutes of arriving at Gore. The shuttle also runs to the North Creek Ski Bowl, where the kids enjoyed snow tubing.
Rich, the owner, was great to work with, and was patient in answering all of our last-minute questions. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone looking for an unbeatably convenient location to Gore Mountain and the various other area attractions.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house was clean with all the amenities we needed. The free shuttle across the street made it so easy to get from the house to the mountain without a hassle.
We would definitely go back.
Spent Wonderful Christmas week in North Creek ! Lovely home with cozy fireplace and lovely Holiday decorations. Great location in town, walking distance to all. House well appointed with comfy beds and lots of charm. Good communication with owner and would highly recommend. We will return !!
Perfect place to stay in North Creek NY ..... House is clean and well maintained. Old Victorian featuring beautiful wood molding and woodwork. Perched above the town with a wrap around porch for sitting while you take in the charm of North Creek.
No need to drive Any Where because within 100 yards of the house is Sarah's Bakery(Breakfast/Lunch for me!), Barvino (Wine/Beer/Small Tapas with Friends), Pete'sah(Pizzeria for Dinner in/out) Grand Union, NCreek Liquor Shop and Hudson Trading Store(A place my family never gets tired of and can spend hours there), The Copperfield Inn (Trappers Pub- Good food and Drinks).
I have been coming to this home for the past three years and was hesitant to review because like Gore Mt I was afraid to let anyone know of my great find...but the owner(Rich Smith) has treated us from the start like a family friend and know he would like more year round business.
