We, Joerg and Gabriela, were both born in Essen, Germany. After immigrating to Canada in 1982 we found our home in Coquitlam, a beautiful town with breathtaking views of mountains, spectacular biking and hiking trails, great restaurants and shopping. The choices of things to do are endless. Our home is just 30 km from Vancouver, a city that has consistently been chosen as one of the top cities in the world to live in and for very good reasons.
We enjoy and love sharing our home, creeks, pond, and the natural backyard setting of the place we live in with people from all over the world. Since we have traveled to many places in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America, we know how important it is to have a comfortable, clean and quiet place to come home to in the evening. We go the extra mile to ensure that our guests have the most comfortable stay possible.
Joerg retired recently from his IT career, and Gabriela runs the B&B since 1986. We both enjoy volunteering in our church and in the community. Our hobbies include hiking, fishing, skiing, gardening, reading and most of all traveling. Our two university-aged children are still living at home while they are finishing their schooling, and also enjoy the interaction with our guests.
Come stay with us and you will not be disappointed.
Joerg and Gabriela
Gabriela / Joerg Butz purchased this house in 1993
We found this home when it was just being built in 1993, and loved the location at the end of a cult-de-sac bordering a forested area with mature cedar trees and 2 small creeks running through the property.
This is a very quiet neighbourhood with no traffic noise, great view, trees around the house, opportunities to walk yet close to all amenities. Sit on the patio and listen to the gentle flow of the creek.
I was scheduled for surgery in the Eagle Ridge Hospital, and found Green Gables B&B while searching for close accommodations. What a delightful place to stay. Not only was the suite spacious and clean, it is located in a quiet neighborhood with their own little paradise to enjoy from the patio. There is no words to describe the wonderful hospitality we received. I am so thankful for their kindness for all the changes I made before and during our week stay. Accommodating my nephew who is wheelchair bound and made a small ramp for easier access to the suite. Astounding indeed. A huge thank you to Joerg for his courtesy and kindness for picking me up from the hospital and my medication! Gabriela and Joerg thank you! I highly recommend Green Gables B&B whether you are looking for vacation or need a place close to the hospital. Better than a 5 star hotel!
We stayed at Green Gables for 4 nights as we attended several functions and family visits in the lower mainland. The location was perfect as we needed to go to downtown Vancouver, Maple Ridge, Aldergrove, and White Rock. We elected to make our own breakfast and the facility was great for this. We loved the spaciousness of the suite and all the amenities that were provided. During our "less hectic" time we loved spending time in the backyard enjoying the solitude, listening to the birds and the running water. It really was a paradise away from the busyness of Vancouver. Gabriella was so welcoming and we really appreciated the flexibility that she and Joerg provided. We plan to return and have recommended the place to our friends.
The description, photos and location described on the web site were reflected accurately.
The property and amenities are properly and well maintained. VERY CLEAN and ORGANIZED. It is more than a rental bedroom suite which in our opinion can surpass standard of name brand hotels. If you are looking for a serene, quaint and peaceful homely atmosphere, go to this property. Not only the price is very reasonable, they don't add surcharges like tax and hotel fees. The lush, beautiful trees , sound of water from the creek, birds singing, beautiful flowers in the garden, and the clean fresh breeze air all day definitely give you needed relaxation and peaceful feeling. The view of nearby mountains add to the beauty of this property. It is in a very quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Since it is situated in a cul de sac and inlet hilly location, I advise future
guests to arrive before dark as the streets are a little bit confusing (up and downhill scenario). GPS and map definitely help. The host's warm welcoming approach will make you feel important and immediately make you feel at home. They walk you to all the rooms, provide brochures on guides to nearby attractions, activities and restaurants. Our 12 day stay on this property was absolutely unforgettable and consider one of our favorites if not the BEST!! We are experienced and seasoned travelers and can confidently compare the overall excellent quality ratings of this Bed and Breakfast facility. It is highly recommendable to friends, relatives and tourists.
We had such a good time at this B&B. The rooms were so clean, inviting and comfortable we could have stayed longer. The backyard was especially delightful - complete with babbling brook and trees. The owners are friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the lower mainland looking for a clean, comfortable and friendly place to stay. As I was in Port Moody for work, it was so nice to return to a relaxed and home-like environment after a long and busy day.
I was here during the winter months, but found the outside environment as relaxing as the inside. The sound of the creek flowing in the back yard as opposed to the noise of traffic was very peaceful.
The property was exactly as shown in the pictures and owner Garbriele was very accommodating in making sure all my needs were met.
I would certainly be happy to stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at this B&B very much, we had everything we needed very clean and comfortable, great views of surrounding area,we hired a car at the airport which is essential to visit nearby places etc, and the owners were very welcoming and a great help, hope to go back in the near future and reccommend the Green Gables.
My husband and I stayed at Green Gables during a visit to Vancouver for both business & pleasure. It was a lovely place surrounded by beautiful trees and other greenery. It was very clean and spacious and very private and quiet. Loved the soft comforters on the king-sized bed. The breakfasts every morning were not only delicious but served with a wonderful smile by Gabriela. It's central location made it very convenient for us visiting family and also for sightseeing. We would surely recommend this B & B.
Hiking: We have a great variety of hiking trails within a 30 km radius, from easy walking along the dikes or shoreline to 'difficult' rated trails - and everything in between. Guided Tours are available, if interested. Great wave pool nearby. Two major shopping malls (Coquitlam Centre and Lougheed Centre) within 10 Min. Several City Parks, lakes and ocean beach walks closeby. Inlet Theatre within walking distance.
