Enjoy the rejuvenating peacefulness of nature at this comfortable retreat. 79 acres of lakes and grassland and 18 acres of adjacent woods make this beautiful spot a great place to relax and recharge. Sunsets are often glorious and the night sky, vast and without light pollution, is magnificent.
The three bedroom, three bath house is spacious and welcoming, with a second large living area for playing games or spreading out projects. The 15 by 35 screen porch is a perfect place to catch a bit of breeze with a cool drink and appreciate the quiet, interrupted occasionally, perhaps, by the loud calls of the Sandhill Cranes who also call this their territory.
Three kinds of woodpeckers, Barred Owls and an osprey are just a few of the frequently sighted large birds who, along with dozens of kinds of small birds might be spotted during a walk in the woods. For more strenuous exercise, there is a private tennis court on site, and the location is convenient to dozens of popular recreation areas. The Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail welcomes hikers, bicyclists, skaters and horseback riders. For kayaking and canoeing the Ocklawaha River, and, a little further, but worth the trip, the salt marshes at Cedar Key, are highly recommended. Swimmers, snorkelers and divers have a wide selection of freshwater options nearby, including Silver Springs and several springs in the Ocala National Forest.
For a culture fix, downtown Gainesville and the University of Florida, with museums, theater and a wide variety of performances are an easy 45 minutes away. Larger concert venues in downtown Jacksonville can be reached in about an hour and a half and the International Drive exit from the Florida Turnpike in Orlando is two hours from the house. St. Augustine’s historic sites and museums are a bit closer than central Jacksonville.
St. Augustine, Orlando and Jacksonville are also destinations for shoppers. Much closer, for those whose interest is antiques, are the shops of Micanopy, which can be reached in a little over half an hour when we share the back road route, which we will.
The house has an attached carport with two bays as well as onsite outdoor parking for four more cars or trailers.

This property has been our family’s playground for many years and now is a peaceful retreat from the world’s cares. It is centrally located in North Central Florida within a half day’s drive of many fun destinations but far enough away to afford us quiet and solitude when we want it.
