Pristine charming house in West Austin - 10 minute walk to downtown

We rented this house for the Austin City Limits music festival, and we were continually delighted all weekend! The house was super neat, and loaded with amenities like WIFI, a Mac computer, and water fountains inside the house and outside in front and in back. The floors are mostly wood, and the house was well stocked with games and good books to read. If you like TV, there is a big beautiful flat screen, but its located in one of the bedrooms, making the bed the only furniture to use when watching. Overall, the house was spacious, clean, well maintained, with nice furniture and kitchen utensils. (One Caveat: my housemate is tall and kept bumping his head on the pans hanging above the sink. If you are tall, just move the big frying pan to the other side of the hanger.)
Our walk to ACL was a nice 20 minute walk. The neighborhood is full with coffee shops, restaurants, galleries, a few cool bars, and a Whole Foods. The main music area downtown is only 5 or 6 blocks away, a very easy walk. And the owners are friendly and responsive. When the AC stopped working on our 2nd night there, I e-mailed the owners and they had it fixed within a few hours.
We rented a car to drive to Austin and to have to drive around during the weekend. This house is a few blocks away from Route 1, making it easy to get anywhere outside of town in a matter of minutes. Get a pass for street parking if you rent a car while in Austin. The local police are known to ticket cars unless they have parking passes inside the windshield.
We liked the Sweetish Cafe, which was two blocks away. They had good coffee, great sandwiches, and awesome pastries!
If you like country/folk/americana music, stop by the Mean Eyed Cat. It is a dive bar, but loaded with character. It was about 4 blocks away, west on 5th street. We stopped there on our way back from ACL on Friday night, and the band was terrific!
In summary, this house was neat as a pin, loaded with charm, and located in a sweet spot in a neighborhood in West Austin. I would recommend this house in a hearbeat to anyone who plans to visit Austin for several days and wants to walk to and from downtown, or to Zilker Park for ACL. This house is a gem.
