Tootie's Place is a sweet cottage in the Zilker Neighborhood. The home is lovingly renovated and decorated in a blend of modern amenities, such as the LED HDTV's and premium appliances, with furnishings suited to the home's earlier origins. Enjoy your morning coffee or take your afternoon respite on the deep, shady, welcoming front porch or in the privacy of the back sun porch. Either way, you're relaxing in peace and quiet on this no-outlet street in the heart of the Zilker neighborhood. The location is ideal for your Austin visit. It is walking distance to Barton Springs, the greenbelt, Lady Bird Lake Hike & Bike Trail, and the Saxon Pub and other South Lamar destinations. A nice stroll to downtown and just a few minutes drive to everything you're coming to do in Austin.
The house is designed to be a mid-term rental (1 - 6 months lease) for 1 or 2 people. We do take shorter stays to fill gaps in our calendar, so feel free to ask about your dates.

This was our 3rd stay at Tootie's Place - that says it all!!
We have come to regard this house as our second home! It is in an ideal situation for visiting our family who live in Austin but also close to town, Zilker Park, South Congress (and yet sooo peaceful).
The house is spotless, the garden is lovely and the back porch is a glorious suntrap in the afternoon. Gina and Steve are always so welcoming - nothing is too much trouble. Relaxing sitting room, good tv / wifi and the bedroom is really comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and has everything you need to prepare a meal for 2 or a visiting family of 4!
Don't hesitate - f you book you won't be disappointed!!
Delightful cottage from the moment you walk in! Sunlight streams in the house from every room. The furniture pieces are lovely, and the lounge chairs are wonderfully comfortable. The street is lined with beautiful pecan trees. The location is ideal to get parks. We stayed here for a month Jan/Feb 2015. Every day we easily drove to historical sites, hiking trails, etc. The kitchen had everything you could want with upscale appliances/amenities and was immaculate. Nice closets fit our bulky Midwestern winter clothes and suitcases. The washer and dryer were quiet with good cycle options.
Most importantly, the neighbors, Gina & Steve (the owners) were promptly responsive, friendly, and helpful. As there were “ripe” pecans all over the front and back yards, they helped with "harvesting," brought over a pecan nut cracker and pecan pie recipe that was delicious!
We would recommend this place highly as a great home-away-from-home! We were so happy to stay at a cottage that was so beautiful, and thoughtfully restored and appointed by the owners. We'd love to come back -- it was a perfect place to stay.
My husband, the cat, and I just returned from our third month-long stay at Tootsie’s Place. We have spent the month of June in Austin in each of the past 5 years because our children and only grandchild live there. We discovered Tootsie’s Place after trying two other locations the two previous years.
The house is spotless, fully-equipped, comfortable, and well-located. It places us a ten minute drive from our kids (southwest Austin) and a ten minute drive to downtown. Fine yoga studios, a nice Gold’s gym, several markets including a terrific Central Market, and numerous music venues are located within easy driving distance. This year we caught a great acoustic set at the Saxon (just down the street) where we discovered a wonderful local fiddler, Warren Hood. Had we been able to stay longer, we would have seen AJ Croce at the near-by Strange Brew.
Gina and Steve, the owners and neighbors, are delightful and attentive and we look forward to visiting with them each year. Until our grandson is too old to spend a month with us, we hope to continue our summer stays at Tootsie’s Place.
Perfect for a first time renter in Austin: location, so convenient; owners, so helpful; cottage appointments and amenities, comfy and functional! Evening walks around the neighborrhood a highlight.
Ideal for long-term stays, whether you want to dive into Austin's burgeoning cultural scene or use it as base for exploring Central Texas. I will come back again and again!
I can't say enough nice things about Tootie's. It's in a perfect location; walking distance to Zilker Park, 5 minutes to downtown, SoCo and SoLa and unbelievably easy access to Mopac, which will get you anywhere quickly. So many great shops, bars and restaurants nearby, an Alamo Drafthouse, bowling, the Barton Springs pool, trails, boat rentals, all right there. The house itself is immaculate and cozy. Very nicely decorated, in a style that fits the house, with one of the most comfortable beds you'll ever sleep in. The street is not a through way, which is a huge plus in this neighborhood. Very quiet at night. And the nicest hosts you could ask for. Be sure to note, it is a small house, so take the "sleeps 2" part of the description to heart. And if you're tall, be prepared stand head and shoulders above the shower head. But don't let those things sway you away. If you're looking for a clean, quiet retreat for one or two people, close to all the best parts of Austin, this is the one. You will be glad you stayed here.
This is a truly exceptional rental property and could not have been more perfect.
My husband and I spend a month each year in Austin visiting family. This was our first stay here and definitely will not be the last. This small house is all usable space with plenty of closet space and storage. Each room has several windows further lending it an open and spacious feeling. It feels new, clean, and welcoming.
The house is fully equipped. Our children joined us for dinner on Fridays and the kitchen had every cooking utensil that I needed. There was a “to-go” cup to take coffee to the gym, a vase for fresh flowers for the table, colander for draining veggies, an excellent set of knives, and a vacuum with which to clean up the crumbs left by a 5 year old grandchild.
Conveniently located near the downtown area, we found ourselves within a 10 minute drive of at least 3 yoga studios, a gym, terrific grocery stores, a theater, and some great music.
Lastly, owners Steve and Gina went out of their way to make sure that our stay was comfortable. We look forward to visiting them again next summer (when I fully expect there will still be crumbs!).
We are located in the heart of Austin. Close to the bustling city, but just up the hill from Barton Springs Pool and Zilker Park in a quiet neighborhood.
If you are ready for music, the Broken Spoke, Saxon Pub, Continental Club, Radio, and One2One are all nearby.
The Hill Country and Highland Lakes are just a day trip away or you could go antiquing in Round Top!
