My husband and I bought the property in 1986. We began creating our Asian inspired garden and dreaming of a remodel of the old cabin. Six years ago we finished the remodel and garden is now mature. We are enjoying sharing our home with friends, family and visitors to Vashon.
Bonnie McCallister purchased this studio in 1986
You can’t beat Villa Vashon’s location. It is on the bus line and very close to the northend Washington State Ferry dock. The ferry is a short 15 minutes ride from Seattle. During the weekdays you can also take the passenger ferry directly to downtown Seattle. There are award-winning restaurants in downtown Vashon or if you don’t feel like going anywherere there is a Mexican restaurant at the end of the ferry dock. Margaritas anyone?
It's like being on a boat. It's close to the water and the sound of the waves ,whales, otters seals, sea lions, eagles and seabirds make for a serene sountrack for a relaxing stay.
We enjoyed ourselves immensely during our brief stay. Thank you for sharing your home with us. Many rentals, and believe me we’ve seen many, are not at all as advertised. Not so with Villa Vashon. I would say Villa Vashon exceeded our expectations, and our expectations are quite high. We look forward to returning for a much longer stay.
We spent three nights at Villa Vashon Suite and enjoyed our stay tremendously. The property is well-appointed, clean, comfortable, private, and right on the water. The daily views across the water included Mt. Baker and the many ferries, and the waves lapping on shore were peaceful and relaxing. This was a great value and definitely a spot we intend to rent again someday. Thank you, Bonnie and Dean, for your gracious hospitality.
Beautiful view, attractive and welcoming decorating, complete furnishings with comfortable furniture and useful, quality cooking accessories, and a very congenial and helpful "innkeeper." Villa Vashon pleased us in every respect and we would definitely want to stay there again.
We were only here for a quick visit, but the room was perfect. Could walk from the ferry boat, but I never heard the boat once as I had feared. It was great for getting back on the ferry when we had to leave. Beautiful views. Bonnie was super friendly and helpful.
We had an excellent stay at this lovely studio just at the foot of the ferry dock. The studio has a serene zen feel with the Asian décor, and a great view with the sound of the sea. Parking can be a bit tricky, though it is designated. BTW, you can take the convenient bus from the dock to go into town if you prefer a drink with your dinner. I would recommend the Hardware Store restaurant. The town center is a few miles away.
We had a lovely time at Bonnie's house. It was well decorated, clean, comfortable and peaceful. It was right next to the ferry crossing to Fauntleroy which made it great to travel to Seattle and then in the evening retreat to the lovely Island of Vashon. Bonnie was a lovely host, we arrived to a warm home and a bottle of champagne and although the studio is part of their main house we had complete privacy for our stay. I would recommend this as a place to stay even if you want to spend your time in Seattle it is not too far to travel from here. Thank you Bonnie.
Villa Vashon is a perfect vacation retreat. Dean who just turned on the bed warmer in the studio greeted us upon our late arrival. Famished, we inquired about a place to dine and Dean graciously invited us into his home for Bonnie’s homemade chicken and vegetable soup and a glass of wine. Bonnie and Dean are attentive hosts providing many amenities at Villa Vashon. The studio is perfect for two and offers beautiful views of the surrounding islands and of West Seattle. Each morning in the robes and slippers provided by our hosts we sat on the balcony sipping coffee while taking in the picture perfect view. At night we slept with open windows listening to waves traveling on shore. Coming from a humid climate, sleeping with fresh cool air drifting in near our bed was simply delightful. Villa Vashon is a retreat into an Asian inspired North wood experience. We highly recommend renting bicycles from Spiders Ski and Sports, but we must warn you that the terrain is challenging. We highly recommend dining at May Kitchen and Bar Restaurant, which is the best Thai food we have ever tasted. Finally, a day of hiking on both Vashon and Murray Island offers great exercise and adventure. One huge plus is the parking space on Vashon Highway near the property garage, which offers a private entrance to the studio and a great spot in line for the ferry! This is a five star experience! Should we return to the Seattle area, we will surely reserve dates for this cozy oasis once again.
Vashon Island is a rural oasis located 1/2 hour from downtown Seattle. The island is known for an abundance of artists, studios and organic farms full of produce and flowers. There are many parks and beaches and hiking areas. Whales and wildlife are everywhere to behold.
