Whether its a cozy get away for two or a family retreat, our flexible rates will fit your needs.
The Overlook is nestled into the west facing slope on the edge of Yachats overlooking the Yachats River. It affords an uninterrupted view of the river as it flows into the Pacific Ocean kicking up the surf over a broad tidal beach, spouting horns, and rocky outcrops. This home has it all: the peaceful serenity of ocean views plus easy walking distance to the beach or the bustling center of town. Whether you’re in the mood for dining out, watching a movie, or simply unwinding from your fast paced life, at The Overlook you will find the best of both worlds.
After viewing the spectacular sunset from the wrap around balcony or through the ceiling to floor windows in the living/dining area, you can relax in the comfortable living room, cook in the gourmet kitchen, and watch TV or movies on the 40' High Definition LCD panel TV with Surround Sound.
You’ll sleep comfortably in the master bedroom king sized bed. The en-suite bathroom has a jetted tub, separate shower, and large walk-in closet. Downstairs the guest room has a queen sized bed and shares a beautiful bath that includes a large tub with enclosed shower. The 3rd bedroom is set up for the kids with a bunk bed that sleeps 3 and a futon that could sleep 2 more. It has its own 36” TV plus DVD and a Karaoke player!
Leave your car in the ample parking and walk two blocks to the local restaurants and shops. You can visit Luna Sea Fish House to buy your fish or dine there. Close by is the Green Salmon where you can have a cup of organic coffee or tea. Across the street is C&K market for all your grocery needs. Yachats has it all: a Sunday Farmer’s Market, an ice cream shop, gourmet wine shop, bakery, fly fishing shop, general mercantile, and more.
It is also an easy walk to both the South Shore Tidal Beach for fun in the sand and the North Shore 804 Trail which follows along the Yachats spectacular rocky coastline. The Yachats community is especially proud of the newly inaugurated Amanda Trail which winds its way south to the top of Cape Perpetua.
Dogs love the beach and are welcome to join you (2 Maximum) at The Overlook. The balcony can be closed off so your pooch can securely lounge in the sun. There is also a kennel in the garage where your dog can sleep comfortably while you are off shopping or beach combing.
We pride ourselves on our cleanliness. All of the bedding (including mattress pads and blankets) are washed after every rental. We take particular care after we have dog visitors. Our cleaning staff takes the extra time to steam clean the flooring plus they find and remove every nose print from the numerous windows!
Come stay with us for comfortable living with a fabulous view and fun exploring the wonderful village of Yachats.

We are a family who grew up in Oregon and now are raising the next generation around the country and around the globe. Yachats holds a special place in our hearts with fond memories of family retreats at the beach to reconnect despite the expanding boundaries of our lives.
Chris Bobenhausen purchased this house in 2007
When the opportunity arose to give our family time at the coast a more constant and familiar setting without sacrificing convenience to the town, the best beaches, our favorite hikes, or even giving up privacy, how could we pass that up? Some of us fell for the soaking tub, others for the wide view deck which lends itself to savoring a drink and journaling, a few couldn't pass up the updated and well-styled kitchen. For at least one of us, it's possible that the very short walk to fresh roasted espresso first thing in the morning sealed the deal. Our far-flung members allow plenty of time for us to extend access to our home to other families and groups of friends who appreciate the peaceful vigor of the Oregon beaches and don't presently have a permanent piece of that little heaven for themselves.
My sister turned 29 and wanted 9 of her best friends to join her for a weekend beach getaway. The Overlook was perfect for this task! The kitchen and living room are basically one big open room, so it was so easy to hang out, prepare meals, and imbibe together. It was great having 2.5 baths, considering we were a party of 10! The ping pong table and air hockey table were very fun additions. My favorite part of the home, however, is the wraparound deck. It is simply delightful! It stretches from the back screen door in the kitchen, to the front entryway. Waking up to this sight and enjoying the sunsets were beautiful ways to bookend the day.
We lucked out and got some of the best weather I have seen for February at the coast. The house was immaculate and well stocked with everything we could need. It offered a great viewpoint of the coast as well as great walking to all our favorite places in Yachats. I can't wait to come back again and stay here! One note also was the internet; usually the coast doesn't have very reliable internet but here it was faster than what I have at home. Made it easy to get my work done in the morning and enjoy the rest of the day!
This was our first Valentines Day in Yachats and what a perfect weekend it was. The house was excellent. Fully stocked, very updated and tons of room for my family as well as our both of our parents. The home is conveniently close to our favorite spots (Green Salmon and the Drift Inn). We especially enjoyed the views of the Ocean from the main room. The Internet was incredibly fast which was great as I know sometimes that can be an issue in the smaller towns. I can't wait to plan our next trip and stay here again.
This home is very conveniently located, has a great view, and is in the heart of the best combination of sites comprising the Oregon Coast experience. Six middle school students and their benighted parental attendant had a great time. A wonderful community resource has always been the Green Salmon Coffee/Tea House and Bakery -- unfortunately shuttered for the New Year Holiday [ but Debbie deserved the break]. For our purposes the OutaGasPizza has become a well conceived and fun addition for extraordinarily crafted pizza in a great family atmosphere. Yachats is blessed again.
Yachats has been a favorite place for our family for years. To help celebrate our daughter's wedding we wanted a place to unlax and enjoy before the ceremony. We could not have done any better than The Overlook! Very comfortable home with stunning view of the Pacific from the living room! All the amenities one could ask for. Very close to downtown and shops/restaurants. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting a first rate stay on the Oregon Coast! Thank you for making our stay a most memorable one!
Our party of 5 adults had a GREAT time at The Overlook on our 10-day stay. We love Yachats and all it has to offer. The Overlook is within a block of the center of town and very convenient to all Yachats. We enjoyed the beach at the mouth of the river, driftwooding below the town park, parks along the coast, etc. And each night we had a great place to come back to and relax. The decks are great in summer for chilling out and enjoying beverage of choice. Loved the tidal changes and all that those bring into view. We cooked many meals in the kitchen and had no issues -- utensils, etc. were fine. We will be back!!
One member of the group is a fabric artist who got a lot of inspiration here. She also enjoyed a visit to the peacock & llama (!) farm up the Yachats Valley during the Open Farms Day. And was invited to show at the Yachats Arts & Crafts Fair next year. We will return as soon as we can.
Close to Aquariums, Visitor Centers, Tide-pools, & Lighthouses:
The most famous and picturesque lighthouse, Heceta Head, is at Cape Perpetua south of Yachats. This area has hiking trails, visitor center, and more.
Hiking trails are within a few blocks of The Overlook: Amanda Trail, Historic 804 Trail, & Gerdemann Botanical Preserve’s Public Footpath. Look for the trail posts to assist you.
