Tom and Gail,
Our vacation was everything we hoped for. The chalet was very clean, comfortable and relaxing. We really enjoyed the hot tub. We had alot of deer as our daily visitors. We went on day trips to Smokehole Caverns, Seneca Rocks and Lost River State Park. The scenery along Rte.55 was really great. When we return to the area we would definately stay at the chalet again. Thank you for everything.
Patty and Mark

you, we would like to use this email as a review in homeaway. Tom and Gail
This is a perfect place for a getaway from everything!!! House was Clean, and had everything you could ever need. Will definitely be staying here again. The owners were very helpful. Highly recommend. Our black lab loved that she could come with us. Only problem we had was about a hour before check out we lost power. But Im sure you have that from time to time way out in the woods. Thanks again!!!!
We choose this cabin for our honeymoon after a hectic week leading up to our wedding. The cabin was perfect. It's so cozy and quiet, at night we sat in the hot tub counting the number of shooting stars flying past. It's crystal clear and the stars are endless. Cabin has everything you need, it felt like we were coming home. Amazing customer service by Gail & Tom, deposit returned within a day and they even checked in to make sure all was well during our stay. We will certainly be going back for anniversaries! Thank you Tom and Gail!
The house was just what we needed for a relaxing get away from the city. We didn't really leave the house at all for the weekend and just enjoyed the atmosphere in the mountains and the wonderful home. Everything was clean, in great working order, and bathroom and kitchen was stocked well. Only trip into town was to Kerrs for a few groceries and it was a adequately stocked small grocery. Were going to hit the brew pub, but we were working on one of the 1000 piece puzzles at the house and just couldn't be bothered to leave. Thanks for the nice place, we will be back.
The house was as advertised. Comfy with most everything you will need for your stay. There was plenty of room for the dogs, a front porch for drinking coffee, then beer, and a working hot tub. Bring spices, charcoal, etc for cooking, and you should be set. The lake nearby is great, and there is plenty of hiking nearby. Renting equipment is a long trip away, so bring rods and bikes.
Loved the chalet with amazing view, clean and comfortable with all the necessities. Wi-Fi was a plus! Enjoyed the screened porch.
A perfect getaway to the woods! The kids had a great time, as well as the adults. The hot tub was so relaxing & in a great location.
The kitchen was well equipped and Gail and Tom had tons of brochures of places to visit while in the area .
We have never experienced such a private and peaceful vacation and would definitely love to come back and stay again.
Thank you for our very nice vacation.
The listing was accurate regarding the location, layout, and amenities. The property was clean, well maintained, and just all around comfortable. Something that really stood out was the screened front porch. We were able to eat outside with a full view of the trees and not worry about bugs. The stairs to the loft are more narrow than we expected and tricky to navigate, especially if you need to get a suitcase/bag up. The wi-fi and TV both worked well. The hot tub was clean and fit my husband and I perfectly. It would fit 4 average-sized adults comfortably. One night, my husband and I saw this long line of "clouds" and realized we could actually see the milky way from the hot tub...no light pollution there and it was really neat!
There were more deer than we anticipated, and while driving on the narrow roads, we had to be extra cautious. The kids loved seeing them though. We didn't eat out at any of the restaurants during our week stay, but we went to Kerr's store for groceries once. It was very well stocked for such a small location and had everything we needed.
As far as activities go, one day we drove about 45 min to the Trough General Store in Romney to rent a canoe. The people there were very friendly and helpful, and the views were great--a lot of wildlife along the route and we were lucky enough to see a train go over a bridge we went under. The kids were in awe. We also went to our first WV winery (West Whitehill), which was better than we expected. We tried dry, semi-dry, sweet and fruity, and all tasted pretty good. It was on par with most of the Loudoun County vineyards we've been to. We also went to Lost Creek Brewery about 10 min from the chalet. My husband thought they were good...only four beers were available to taste, though. And finally, the fishing. We took our kids, ages 10 and 5, fishing at Warden Lake almost everyday. Over the course of a week, they probably caught about 20 Bluegill (we put all of them back) and they were very happy with that.
Immediately upon check-in, there was a binder on the table which was very comprehensive; filled with local information, hiking trails in the area, local restaurants, etc. After the stay, Tom and Gail returned our security deposit to us very quickly, within 1 business day actually, and overall we had a great family vacation. Thank you, Tom and Gail! Hopefully we'll be able to make it back soon.
