This property is a clean, quiet, affordable place to stay with many of the same amenities as the more expensive places. It is located in a quaint Mexican neighborhood a short distance to the south of the main north village. You will find it to be a nice retreat after a long day of shopping, swimming and just plain relaxing.

My wife Lori and I have been visiting the island every winter since 1980. When we decided it was where we wanted to be, we started constructing Casa Azul a little at a time until it was finally finished in 2008. We are striving to keep it reasonable so anyone can afford to vacation on this lovely island as we have for so many years.
The Owner purchased this apartment in 1996
We purchased the property and built the vacation rental in this location because of the sea view, while still being somewhat shielded from the effects of storms and the erosion caused by waterfront property.
Only a short distance from the main village, a quiet neighborhood with a local flare
My husband and myself had a wonderful 17 night stay at Casa Azul.
Everything is exactly as advertised.
It is a safe and great location to depart from for your daily adventures.
The rooftop patio and pool is a much appreciated place to relax at any time of the day or night.
Jim and Lori, the owners and hosts, are super people and their hospitality is a real treat!
We would definitely return.
From the day I arrived by ferry, with Mr. "Jim" waiting to pick me up, my stay at Casa Azul was exactly what I needed. My apartment was perfect, with a comfy bed and a kitchen full of cooking utensils. I was able to prepare exactly what I wanted to eat, pick up fresh tortillas from the nearby tortilla factory and enjoyed every minute of my relaxing stay. Away from the hustle and bustle of the tourists, I could make my way to the north beach for an afternoon of sun and later dine in one of the fine restaurants as I meandered my way home. The corner store had everything I would ever need and the Chedraui was only a few blocks walking distance. Thank you Jim and Lori for a more than relaxing stay, I shall return when life allows...until then... know that your job was well done and your services just perfect!
Jim and Lori, owners of Casa Azul, are marvelous, responsible hosts who do a wonderful job of making Casa Azul homey and welcoming. Whether spending time at Casa Azul during the day, or looking forward to returning “home” after a day around the island, Casa Azul proved to be a good, safe, and comfortable place for me to stay. The wifi works great, my bed was super comfortable, and my kitchen was stocked for cooking although I ate most of my dinners out at many terrific neighborhood places. I also stayed at North Beach for a couple weeks, and was driven inside just after sunset by the biting tiny flies and mosquitoes – I did not have that problem at all at Casa Azul, and enjoyed many nights sitting out on the upstairs patio. I highly recommend this affordable home away from home on Isla Mujeres.
We came for a relaxing week away from everything and we got that! I recently had foot and ankle surgery and I was concerned about being able to get in and out of places with my disability and when we arrived to Casa Azul, we were placed in the first floor apartment and the first thing I see when I walk in is a closet FULL of handicapped devices! Crutches, walkers, ect. That was awesome! It totally helped me get to the pool on the roof and to the beach just a block and a half away. We loved being out of the caos of El Centro and really fell in love with the Mexican culture that was everywhere around Casa Azul. Our towels and sheets were changed when they said they would and having the kitchen saved us tons of money. We went grocery shopping and at 2/3 meals in our little love nest. All around we felt safe, happy and taken care of. Thank you.
Back from a second stay at Casa Azul, for 8 nights this time after my previous stay of only 2 nights in October '13. Just as fantastic for my tastes/preferences as the first time! I love having a home base outside of the main part of town, and the studio was the perfect size for my husband and I. It really feels like a home away from home and if that's what you are looking for, I wholeheartedly recommend Casa Azul! It is not a "hotel" as much as a comfortably-sized studio apartment in a neighborhood predominantly occupied by local island families and some expats. Easy walk to the large grocery store for stocking up the kitchen and lots of great family-run eateries nearby, including the famous (and a bit more pricey) Mango Cafe and Monchis. Be sure to try the tacos at Dona Mari's. We slept comfortably every night with very little/no street noise audible in the studio on the top floor. The shower here is actually better than the one in our own house. I spent a lot of time hanging out on the roof patio and was able to get some work done on the house Wifi both in the studio and on the patio. I absolutely love this place, the neighborhood, and visiting with Jim, Lori, and the pets! Can't imagine staying anywhere else on Isla!
