CHANDLER LAKE COTTAGE: QUIET LAKE WITH 100' OF SANDY FRONTAGE

Traverse City Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 5 Bedrooms, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 8-10)

Remember your childhood memories of wonderful Northern Michigan summers or create new ones with your family! This totally renovated, 1,300sq/ft, 5 bedroom, 1 bath, cottage is full of north woods charm. Your visit to Northern Michigan on Chandler Lake will always be remembered. We rent from Sunday to Sunday in the summer and nightly 'out-of-season'.

The cottage is situated on a small, quiet fishing/swimming lake with 100 feet of sandy beachfront. The hard sand bottom lake has a gradual slope for the first 10' so it is swimmer friendly. Chandler Lake is one of the best fishing lakes in the area, mainly for blue gill, perch and bass . It has many coves for you to explore and right in front of the cottage is a small sandy island you will love to visit by rowboat. Imagine roasting marshmallows on the beach by a crackling fire under the clear star-filled nights. Sit on one of the 2 decks and watch the ducks and loons drift by in the evening while the sun sets.

Amenities: The cottage is fully furnished, decorated in the north woods theme and sleeps 10 in beds. The bedrooms are cozy- In BR 1 we have a Queen size bed, BR 2 has two twin beds, BR 3 & 4 each have a Queen size bed, BR 5, in the lower level, has a full bed. In every bedroom we have new mattresses and quilts, sheets and pillows.

The kitchen is fully equipped with coffee maker, microwave, oven/stove, blender, toaster, pots & pans, cooking utensils and dishes (no dishwasher). We have cable TV, VCR with over 100 movies, Wi/Fi Internet, CD player, a washer/dryer and iron & board. All towels and linens, soap and paper products are provided.

A small walkout basement has a recreation room with a cable TV, air hockey and board games. Off of the walkout is a covered porch with seating. This cottage has central heating (no airconditioning), was renovated in 2011 w/ new kitchen cupboards, hardwood flooring, carpet, paint, bathroom fixtures, windows and lighting.

On the beach next to the new dock is a fire pit, chairs and picnic table. We have 2 decks, all of which have wooden patio furniture or Adirondack chairs. We have a rowboat and life jackets for your use.

Activities: The cottage is only 15 minutes from beautiful downtown Traverse City. Close by you will find great shopping, dining, boating, sailing, golf, tennis, skiing, hiking, fishing, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, many wineries, fully renovated State Movie Theatre, casinos and the VASA Trail. Also within 40 minutes are beautiful lighthouses, Sleeping Bear Dunes State Park and Interlochen Performing Arts Center. Northern Michigan is also known for its many festivals (The National Cherry and Film Festivals, to name just a couple) and many other quaint towns - Suttons Bay, Torch Lake, as well as Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Mackinac Island, about 1 - 2 hours north.

Across the road from the cottage is a state park with miles of wooded walking trails and a playground. Just around the corner is Peegeos, a family restaurant that is the local hangout with the best pizza in town. Also, a small grocery/convenience store is within 1 mile.

Golf: We have many great golf courses nearby, including Arcadia Bluffs, Tree Tops, Boyne Mtn, Harbor Springs and Grand Traverse Resort's Jack Nicklaus' Bear course which is 15 minutes away.

Guestbook comments from the owner
We stayed at this cottage for a couple of weeks in September and it was perfect for our needs. The view was as beautiful as the pictures show and we enjoyed several evenings of sitting around a small fire on the lake. The home comes with all the amenities you need in a kitchen to prepare meals, just bring along favorite food items and condiments, etc. We went to the local farmer's market in town for produce and we were set. The front bedroom overlooks the lake and has a full-size bed, two middle rooms have a full-sized bed and two twin beds and back room has a queen size bed. Bath was simple but worked for the two of us.

Chandler Lake is about 10-15 minutes south of Traverse City, so it was easy to access the local library, shops and restaurants of downtown TC, yet we got to come home to the country after our outings. If you need Internet access, there are many places including the library that offer free access.

The inland lakes around Traverse City are a beautiful and affordable alternative to local hotels.

Sandy lake, private access with dock and great fishing.

Girls Weekend

  • 4 of 5
We were very impressed with the amount of space the rental had inside and out. Five ladies going out of town together usually needs some space - and this house had that! We were also impressed with the cleanliness of the house and that it had everything we needed - right down to the coffee filters! :) Also, the home owner was VERY easy to work with!! We've decided to make this girls weekend a yearly tradition since we had such a great time!

Wonderful Cabin!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful time at this cabin for our extended family vacation in July! We were celebrating my mom's birthday and managed just fine with 7 adults, 3 kids, and 1 baby. It worked well to have one family (with the baby) sleep in the basement, as it was surprisingly well insulted from the fun sounds upstairs when it was time for the baby's nap! The cabin is in a very scenic location, on a quiet and clear lake (only saw/heard a handful of boats during our stay). The lake front is ideal for young kids...very sandy beach with gradual slope. Even our 1-year old was able to splash around safely at the water's edge. The older kids loved running off the end of the pier and swimming in the clear water. Many of us even made the swim out to a neat island about 300 yards out on the lake. We were pleased to find an assortment of sand toys, life jackets, and other beach items. The house itself is well stocked and clean. The kitchen and dining area are larger than appears in the photos and we were pleasantly surprised. We had no problem seating everyone in our large group at the big dining room table, or at the several tables outside. The outside area was a lot of fun for all; we enjoyed the swing with beautiful lake view and the kids logged hours playing on the swing set. The fire pit was perfectly situated (actually, there are TWO fire pits...one on the beach, one near the house/deck) for nightly campfires and s'mores. We enjoyed a few trips into Traverse City (15 minute drive) and a big day trip to Mackinaw Island (worth the drive). Everything about this house was just right for our group! From ample parking (for 3 cars, maybe more), to lots of outdoor chairs, to good bedroom space. The only things we could wish for might be an extra bathroom (although we did manage just fine), maybe just a hose or spigot on the deck to spray sandy kids down outside, and some more beach towels (we'll bring extra next time). Otherwise, we all had a picture perfect Michigan cabin vacation. We hope to return again!

Great Cottage and Location

  • 5 of 5
Family with two teenage kids and two dogs spent a week in July. Very quiet and comfortable location. Everything is exactly as pictured and described in the VRBO listing. Neighbors at the cottage were very nice and friendly. Caught some nice size bass in the lake and swimming off the island with the dogs was a lot of fun. Secluded and 15 minutes from everything in Traverse. Biggest compliment I can give is we would go back for another week.

Peaceful and relaxing!

  • 5 of 5
What a beautiful location! The amazing views of the lake can be seen from the kitchen, dining room and living room with an open floor plan! We enjoyed coffee outside on the swing each morning listening to nature and soaking in the gorgeous lake. In the evenings we had a campfire down next to the lake toasting marshmallows and hot dogs. There is plenty of outdoor seating and different levels to sit. There are a few steps to get down to the lake but not too many. The cottage was very well equipped with cookware, etc. and also got us started with paper towels, laundry detergent, etc. Absolutely loved our time at this property! It is very quiet & secluded but a short 15 minute drive to the casino and mall. Thank you for a wonderful get away!

Great fit for our family!

  • 5 of 5
Our family (six adults and six small children) enjoyed this cottage immensely! There was plenty of room for us to spread out. The sandy beach front and the island directly across from the cottage were perfect play areas for our children; the swing set in the side yard was an unexpected bonus; the supply of paper products and linens was appreciated; and the general quietness and cleanliness of the lake was a plus. Our whole family thought the photos didn't do justice to the quality of this place. We would love to come back for another summer vacation!

Great Place For Family

  • 5 of 5
Stayed at this beautiful place from 6/8/12 to 6/16/12 with my wife and young daughters. Chris (owner) could not have been more accomodating. Had a question about the wifi and he answered it immediately. This place has everything you could need for a fantastic vacation. The fishing was amazing! Only fished in the bay in front of the house and caught all the fish I wanted, including a 24 inch 10 1/2 pound large mouth monster!! The local farmer's markets were a favorite of our family. We were able to relax and reconnect. What else could you ask for from a vacation??
