If you are looking for a quiet place to rest your bones & recharge your batteries...this is the place. It is a 700 sq ft cottage on 13,000 square feet of land with beautiful views of the surrounding Monterey Pines and Oaks.

The cottage has all the ''creature comforts'' of your own home including a complete fully equipped kitchen....but if cooking is not on the agenda for the day, no need to start the car just enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the 5 star restaurants of the Highlands Inn. It is just a quick 2 minute walk away.

If staying in is your style, you can BBQ & watch your favorite TV/sports program on the 42' HD flat screen TV or sit on the front patio w/ your beverage of choice & enjoy a partial view of the ocean & the south side of famous Point Lobos State Park...or you can take a short peaceful walk to catch the beauty of the crashing waves on the coast at sunset....whatever you choose to do...you will be glad you stayed at the Cottage by the Sea to relax & enjoy.

Our home offers the quiet and the serenity with the views, the vistas, the crashing waves and the majesty of the pines and oaks. Our little cottage's location is seemingly so far away for the peace and relaxation we all seek...yet so close at hand for excellent dining and shopping in Carmel by the Sea, hiking at Point Lobos State Park, driving 17 mile at Pebble Beach, listening and watching the 'lone bagpiper' come down the fairway at Spanish Bay at sunset, visiting Monterey's Ocean Aquarium and wharf, dining at the Highlands Inn (HI) 5-star restaurants and/or listening to jazz/light entertainment in the HI Great Room while enjoying the beauty of the Monterey Coastline...a little piece of paradise located perfectly to suit all your needs.

About Jann Landess

Jann and I (Scott) bought this place in April of 2009 and completely remodeled the property with the idea of reselling it...but the more time we spent on the property working the more we fell in love with the beauty and peacefulness it provided. We changed our minds (thank goodness!) and realized that this was a 'little jewel' that we could not let go...so we share it with you and hope you find the same feeling of joy and tranquility that we have come to know and enjoy during our (and your) stays here.

We have visited the Carmel area and the Highlands Inn for years and always wanted to be able to live in the area...we were fortunate to come across this home in 2009 and turn it into a great getaway for us (and now or you) and a permanent place for us to land in the future. We loved the idea of being so close at hand for all the 'cultural things' we enjoy and yet felt when we turned into our driveway we were definitely away from it all.

1-2 Min Walk to Highlands Inn/5-8 Min Drive to Carmel by the Sea

Close to Point Lobos State Park, the Monterey Wharf and Monterey Bay Aquarium, TOR house tours on Fri/Sat only, wine room tastings available in the Carmel and Carmel Valley area and many special events in the area (ie: Mazda Raceway & Laguna Seca/Motocross/ MotoGP, Concours d'Elegance, Monterey Jazz Festival) scheduled throughout the year. Visit and/or tour the Carmel Mission and the Carmelite Monastery just off Highway 1....and don't forget about Big Sur being so close...Lots to do and see.

Relaxing vacation

Absolutely loved this quaint little cottage. Our first time there and most definitely will not be our last.
The home was so comfortable and relaxing. The homeowners graciously allow you to bring your doggie into the home. Our little Frenchie just loved laying on the front deck getting some sun.
Good location and the homeowner, Jann, took care of us. Thank you for the use of your home. We highly recommend it.

Simply Delightful

The cottage was meticulously finished and decorated. High quality furniture, appliances, and decor. Even the sleep sofa was very high quality. The kitchen was well appointed with cooking utensils, cookware, and oils and spices. There was a bottle of wine in the fridge and a beautiful bouquet of roses on the table when we arrived. The space was both elegant and inviting. I run a bed and breakfast, and I was very impressed with the level of hospitality offered by Jann and the accommodations of cottage.

A Little Slice of Heaven

We loved this cozy cottage by the sea! It worked perfectly for us and our two canine companions. After a long day of exploring the beautiful Carmel and Big Sur area, it was so wonderful to return "home" to this lovely and comfortable retreat. The house was beautifully decorated and well appointed. The landscaping was charming and tranquil. Jann was a joy to work with - very detailed and attentive. The house is a little hard to find, so ask for the directions before you go. We hope to return here in the near future, and we definitely recommend it!

Great place to relax!!

My wife and I along with our dog thoroughly enjoyed our time at the cottage. It had everything we needed. The setting was perfect, quiet, secluded and the cottage was very comfortable and cozy - especially the fire place. On our walks the views were spectacular! We will be back later this year to take advantage of this find. Jann is a great hostess and took care of our every need.

Magical Cottage

This cozy cottage by the sea was the perfect home away from home for Thanksgiving. It is perfectly equipped with everything you could possibly need and so many extras. The care and love that is put into maintaining the home and making sure it is perfectly comfortable shows in every little nuance. From the gorgeous landscape to the decorative touches, there were holiday pumpkins put out for us all around and it really felt like a special home. It was perfectly clean and modern and close to everything. It's amazing to be completely nestled in the forest and still only a 5 minute drive down a beautiful scenic Hwy and have the convenience of markets and restaurants. The owners are extremely hospitable and accomadating, we were very well taken care of and felt looked after.
Thank you for this amazing retreat in the Carmel Highlands.
