We have been here for 2 months, so we were looking for something that was a bit more like 'home.' I'm glad to say that this property fits that requirement very well! It doesn't feel like a 'rental' property and it's obvious that the owners take care of it with pride. The furnishings are comfortable and it's well equipped and clean. The property is bigger than it looks in the photos. The pool is very good and well worth having it heated in the cooler months.
The agent, Richard Veale, is very helpful, even calling round to make sure everything was OK. The property looks onto a small lake and we've seen birds, otters and an alligator (don't worry, if you leave them alone they won't bother you).
The location is very good for getting to Disney and there is a large Wal-Mart only 3 minutes away (don't worry, you're not in the middle of an industrial estate!). However, check out a store called Whole Food Markets, located on Turkey Lake Road and Sand Lake. It's the same as a Waitrose and is very good. Also check out the Farmers Market at Celebration, on a Sunday (about 12 minutes away). Celebration is well worth walking round. If you like walking go to Lake Louisa State Park, it's really good to take a picnic.
For the majority of the time it was just my wife and I staying but for two weeks our family of two adults, a 7-year old and a 6-month old came over. The property easily catered for all of us and, with toys to play with (provided by the owner) all ages were kept happy.
Although it's best to hire a car (we had a good deal through Auto-Europe) the main road is 7 minutes walk away and you can get public transport (the 55 or 56 bus takes you right into Disney....saves $14 on daily parking) and you can get a taxi from Wal-Mart to bring heavy groceries.
When we arrived we purchased a pre-pay International phone card and you can use this from the house phone...follow the instructions on the card (you can get them from a 7/11 store). It's very much cheaper than using your mobile. $20 has lasted us for 2 months, making two 30 minute calls per week.
If you like shopping the Florida Mall is very good but the Melina Mall is well worth going to.
I would recommend this property as it is clean, well maintained, in a quiet development (it was in February and March) that is more of a home that a 'rental investment.'
It's well worth considering.
