Having grown up in Iowa and knowing that I wanted to 'come home', I was looking for a lake community that would have a robust, active, yet small-town atmosphere. I found it in Clear Lake. This town features many events and concerts throughout the year. There is a beautiful downtown center with a pretty beach and sea wall walk. A City art museum added to its charm. For those of us who love flowers the City garden park is spectacular.
Linda (Owner) purchased this cottage in 2010
Our cottage feels cozy to us, is close to the lake and the seawall walking path and is in a great location to participate in all the activities Clear Lake has to offer. Remember walking to the town square or green and buying an ice cream cone? Remember needing a quick item from the grocery or drug store--well, you don't have to get in the car and drive, it's all within walking distance. City Park is very close and is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy all the city center has to offer..
Off season, The Cottage and Clear Lake both offer warmth and inspiration while enjoying the Winter Party week at the Surf Ballroom honoring Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens. Or come for the large, colorful winter kite festival and the ice fishing on the lake. There is fishing year round. The Christmas events with parade and fireworks are truly fun. Of course, there is no better time than Clear Lake on the 4th of July with its massive fireworks display.
We just visited Clear Lake, IA, 8/1-8/3/14. The cottage had all amenities and was nicely decorated & clean too. It was in walking distance to many things, which was very nice. The owner, Linda, was very nice to work with and very prompt in responding to requests. Their property manager was also very nice to work with too, very accommodating. Also an added plus was the Classic Car show and 50s/60s band that played music in the park. This cottage is also just around the corner from the Surf Ballroom that is well known in Clear Lake. Would definitely stay here again!
My husband I spent a week here in October and loved it. The house is comfortable and clean. You can tell its is well cared for. It had everything we needed for our stay including an ironing board! The caretaker was awesome and patient (we had trouble figuring out the cable set up). I would love to go back and would recommend it to anyone!
Great place to stay....very nice and clean and wonderful location....
This is a wonderful little cottage with a lake view from the front yard and a public dock just a few feet away. Our family of 5 was comfortable and cozy during our 4-night stay. This is a well-kept property with many conveniences (dishwasher, washer, dryer, cable/DVD/internet, and large back yard).
Four of us ladies discovered this wonderful house for our "scrapbooking, relaxing, eating, catching up" weekend and it is PERFECT!! Nicely decorated, but most important VERY CLEAN - everything you need in the kitchen including full-size refrigerator, gas stove and dishwasher so we even got out of having to do dishes! Ended up being a rainy Memorial Day weekend, and the 2nd set of blinds and curtains in the bedrooms made it easy to sleep in the mornings and take naps in the afternoon. Comfy living room furniture for talking and a nice backyard with patio set for enjoying your morning coffee (when it's sunny!). House manager super helpful, responding quickly and willing to go extra mile - owners very easy to work with as well. We WILL be back!!
3 friends stayed here 2 nights and this place was perfect. The kitchen had everything we needed and everything worked. The house was exceptionally clean. We enjoyed being so close to a public dock, especially on a starry night and we enjoyed our wine hour on the backyard patio. We want to come back!!
