About Tom Barron
Western Trails Rodeo is owned and operated by Jerome Robinson, a former professional rodeo competitor whose love for the sport spilled beyond the competitive arena and into the field of rodeo production.
Robinson was raised in Brandon, Neb., a dot-on-the-map farm town in the state’s western edge. The son of a wheat and corn farmer, Robinson came from rural roots, and it showed in his love for horses, cattle and his favorite sport – rodeo. When he was 3 years old, his grandmother took him to Denver’s National Western Stock Show and Rodeo where he first witnessed bull riding.
Upon returning from the Denver rodeo he boldly proclaimed to his parents that he was going to be a bull rider. They laughed at the time, but 50 years later, Robinson’s family and friends know he means business when it comes to anything that involves rodeo.
Upon high school graduation, Robinson went on to compete for Colorado State University’s rodeo team and, in the mid 1960s, joined what is now the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
As one of the top bull riders of the 1970s and early ’80s, Robinson qualified 11 times for the PRCA’s prestigious National Finals Rodeo. He finished as high as fourth in the world standings and traveled to more than 125 rodeos per year fulfilling his childhood dream of being a professional bull rider.
Robinson retired from rodeo competition in 1982 but his involvement in rodeo and his travel schedule never lessened. Robinson immediately shifted his focus to the production side of professional rodeo. The result was the formation of his company, Western Trails Rodeo (WTR), which today stands out as one of the nation’s most versatile and experienced rodeo and western-event producers.
During the 1999 Professional Bull Riders’ World Championships in Las Vegas, Robinson received professional bull riding's most prestigious honor when he was inducted into the PBR's Ring of Honor, considered the “Hall of Fame” for professional bull riders.

Why Tom Barron chose Manuel Antonio
For years my staff would joke that I did not know how to relax. They insisted that I did not even know how to say 'va va va-cation'. My fiance convinced me to take a trip to Costa Rica, and her love of the country wore off on me. My cowboy knees saw the sun for the first time in decades, and my farmer tan began to fade. When we found 'Casa del Toro', it was like love at first sight and we just had to have this house! Now, as I continue to save for my eventual retirement, I will have my own unique Paradise to enjoy the best there is in life!! We hope you enjoy our home too!
