We have made Lake Placid our home since 1979. Raised 3 children and run a successful Main Street business. We are 46ers, (hike 46 peaks that are above 4600 ft) cross country ski, down hill ski, water ski and truly enjoy this beautiful area.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2009

We chose this property to purchase and rent out because we wanted others to be able to visit beautiful Lake Placid and have an affordable place in the center of town. A home is much quieter that a hotel/motel.

While staying here you can walk to Main Street, where all the gift shops and restaurants are. The Olympic Ice center has skating available to the public.

nature, sparkling clear lakes, high peak mountains, hemlock and pine forests as well resist the temptation to play a few outdoor sports.

Perfect Location and Wonderful Home!!

  • 5 of 5
We are so glad that we chose your home this year for our week up there. It made it so easy to go to town and back and forth from the fields , mountains and lakes. Your home was so bright, cheery and comfortable. We have already asked MaryKaye to pencil us in for next year. It was a pleasure to meet Greg, as well as getting introduced to your shops in town- Critters and Sparkles- and your sister-in-law's Spunkwear Line!!! Hope to meet you next time around.

Another great visit to Lake Placid

Hi MaryKaye,

Happy New Year. I also enjoyed meeting you. We had our best visit ever this year. George is on the mend although it is going to take some time. I think he will need to wait until next December to ski. Thanks

Ann

Owner's Response: Hello Ann, it was wonderful to meet you this visit and have already booked you for next Christmas as you requested. You and your family are welcome anytime. The skiing this past week has been wonderful, 40 degrees and sunny. It needs to get back to the 20's but as you know we have no control over that. Have a wonderful year and we will see you in December. MaryKaye

Perfect Stay in Lake Placid

  • 5 of 5
Our family of 5 (mom, dad, daughter-19, son-16 & daughter's boyfriend-19) stayed here in mid-July. All 3 kids are serious hockey fans & they've seen the movie "Miracle" (about the gold-medal 1980 USA hockey team) so many times they have all the lines memorized. Our trip from Madison, WI to Lake Placid was a dream-come-true for them.

The house was perfect for us. The kids took the 2 upstairs bedrooms. One bedroom has 2 twin beds (shared by boyfriend & son) while Nicki took the other room (with queen-size bed). The kids shared the upstairs bathroom & having a flat-screen TV with DVD player in Nicki's room meant they could watch TV & movies upstairs while giving us parents peace & privacy downstairs where we had the other queen-size bedroom & bathroom. There's a 2nd flat-screen TV with DVD player in the family room, but we ended up not even turning it on. Cushy furniture meant we could relax & read before bed. We did lots of reading up on restaurants & other activities thanks to the extensive binder of info the owners left for us.

The house was sparkling clean & cheery. While it appears the owners are still refurbishing some of the screens, having windows open on all 4 sides of the house kept things cool & summer-like (no air-conditioning, but it wasn't needed). We appreciated the garage (with garage door opener) & relaxing on the sunny side deck. Walking to Main Street was a bit of a hike (about 10 minutes) but nothing we middle-aged parents couldn't handle. The kitchen has all the tools needed to fix meals if desired, but we ended up going out to eat or just snacking on fruit & drinks that we kept in the fridge. Having a washer & dryer (in the basement) meant we didn't have to pack as much since we could wash clothes before going on to Montreal; however, be sure to check first if detergent & fabric softener are available. We couldn't find any so we bought some & left the supplies for the next folks. Took awhile to find the elusive light switch BEHIND the basement door!

The only glitch was running out of toilet paper mid-way thru the last day of our stay. We didn't discover this until it was too late to make a grocery store run & we didn't want to bother anyone by calling at 10pm. Ended up running out of kleenix & paper towels too. Luckily we had leftover napkins in the car!

Would we stay again? Absolutely. In fact, the kids have already asked us when we're going to come back. Wish I knew - Lake Placid isn't exactly close to Madison. We had a great time.

Great Visit!

  • 5 of 5
This property is exactly as it appears in these photos...it is spotless, warm, comfortable, safe and in a super location to downtown Lake Placid! The furnishings are new, clean and a great layout for our family. We loved being able to walk from the house to Mirror Lake, Olympic Center, Starbucks, restaurants and all the quaint shops. It was a super location, fantastic house and we will certainly recommend it to friends and family! We will be back again!!! Thank you!!

Wonderful home for the Holidays

  • 5 of 5
Stayed here during Christmas, very clean and new looking. 1 block from Main street where we shopped and ate. Lots of great stores Critters, the Market, Trollbeads Lake Placid, the Adirondak Store and even a ceramic making store. Whiteface was about 20 minutes away, beautiful skiing and then ice skated at night at the skating center just down the street.

Dog sled rides on the lake were a blast. To bad the toboggan chute was not open yet.

Very smooth transaction with owner, questions about the area answered immediately with information in the home for us.

I will keep this listing number for future visits to Lake Placid.
