A Week in Paradise

Casa Vela was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. The entire family of ten adults and two children spent a week there to celebrate the patriarch’s 80th birthday. The casa and the environs met the needs of the oldest, 80 years old, to the youngest, 6 years old. The beaches were minutes away, we slept to the sound of breaking surf, and two kitchens gave us plenty of space for meal preparation. Grocery stores and restaurants were a short drive. The layout of the casa provided everyone with privacy but we spent hours on the patio eating, talking, sunning and watching the kids play in the pool. Another amazing piece of our time at Casa Vela was our host. Alex paid meticulous attention to our needs; one morning providing us with fresh pastries and bread after the town’s electricity went out. The time we had at Casa Vela was perfect; we highly recommend it to anyone interested in a vacation in paradise.

Beyond Beautiful!!!

What can I say that the others did not say in their reviews? Oh I had my wedding here!!! :-). I rented this lovely property for four nights from Nov 30th, 2013 to Dec 4th 2013. I live in Chicago and always wanted a beautiful beach side wedding at a low cost. Boy did I get lucky finding this place. I have some family and friends that live in Puerto Rico, but a little far from Isabella so my intentions were to rent the house and let my guess stay there just so they didn't have to drive in the dark. The home owner Alex was a gem. He helped me so much along the way of my wedding preparations and I am forever grateful. I had a small wedding of about 30 guest. We were able to set up tables in the driveway away including a tarp (just in case it rained). The ceremony was on the beach and reception back at the house. It couldn't have worked out any more perfect as it did. I only had one day to prep for the wedding and Alex was so very helpful to let the vendors in and set up before my actual check in. Alex was able to recommend a few local vendors for the wedding in which worked out perfectly, because if your not from there the vendors will definitely take advantage. The backyard was big enough for 5 tables, a tarp, DJ, and a food buffet. With the help of Alex this was a hit thank you. After the wedding we were able to relax in the house for a few days with friends and family. If you are staying with a large group this house is well equipped for it. The house was clean, modern, and welcoming. I very much enjoyed it after the wedding. I definitely will be back.

Casavela has it all!

The well-apointed house is perfectly located on the beach, in close proximity to the world-class surfing, the restaurants and the shops that make Puerto Rico such a perfect place to vacation. Surrounded by dense vegetation, Casavela is a private oasis on the coast. Here you can feel at-home while enjoying your vacation in paradise. Bikes, Boards, Stereos and Wireless internet are waiting at the house so your vacation can begin as soon as you arrive. Managers were very helpful--a gracious and friendly family. They thought of everything. We plan to return often.

what a wonderful place!!

our group so enjoyed our visit last week! everyone had a blast and the house was perfect for our group. alex was so helpful and gave us lots of advice and extra amenities, etc. having the surfboards was great and some of the guys had a great time surfing at jobos and also at wilderness.

we are definitely thinking about renting the place again next year - the house was very accommodating for our group which fluctuated between 12 and 18 over the course of 5 nights. having two kitchens was great, and we spent almost all of our time outside on the beach, around the pool, or walking down to the bars at jobos and watching surfers and kiteboarders. having the outdoor space made the place so much more inviting - pools and bbq area, plus the two patios... and the views were gorgeous. from the decks we saw rainbows and iguanas, plus the gorgeous ocean!

thanks for everything!

Great stay for our extended family!

Casavela is a beautiful property and is just as described in the listing. My extended family of 18 stayed a week and had a wonderful time. Everything you read in the reviews about Alex, the property owner, is true. He not only was extremely helpful on recommendations for things to do in the area, he also did so many extras such as bringing over coffee, local baked goods, and avocados. He also provided a catered PR dinner for our group at the house. Seriously, I've rented many places from vrbo, and I have never had a nicer owner to do deal with.
It's common in PR to only have AC in the bedrooms. This house is no different. August is pretty hot during the day, but there is usually a great breeze so it wasn't too much of an issue. We had a really large group, so only having 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms was pretty tight. But we knew that going in! We found we had a shortage of towels, so we purchased some from Walmart instead of asking Alex. One of the bathrooms is outside, so it wasn't used very often for showers with the people in our group. A couple of times we had minor issues, that we called Alex about, and he was right over to resolve.
As far as the area, be sure to check out the waterfall and snorkeling at shacks beach. The beaches that are nearby are beautiful, as well as the beach behind the house. It's a short walk up a private trail. We couldn't swim behind the villa, due to the water being to rough, but it's a short walk down to a swimming beach. A few of the restaurants we enjoyed, El Carey, across the street, Sushi to Go, and 110 Thai. Six of us even went on a boating excursion with Alex on the south side of PR. It was beautiful! Alex recommended biking, but none in our group had a chance. We had a bunch of kids in our group ranging from 5 to 23. They absolutely loved the pool and walking the trail to the beach. The outdoor living space at CasaVela makes the property! We spent most of our time in the pool, hammocks, one of the balconies, gazebo, and outdoor dining table. It's lovely!
Thanks again Alex for a great vacation!
