30 West Chester Street is a rose covered cottage with an entrance from the quiet lane off Wesco Place.
The first floor features an open layout with living room, kitchen and dining area that opens onto a brick patio with an outdoor shower. Upstairs, the hallway leads to a cathedral master bedroom with a king bed, a guest bedroom with a twin and a full bed, and a full bathroom. All the rooms feature paintings by island artist Illya Kagan, as well as antique painted farmhouse pine furniture. The cottage is situated on the oldest street in Nantucket, just below the Historical Association's oldest house on the island and Sunset Hill Park. A few steps down Wesco Place leads you into Lily Pond Park which is encompasses several acres of paths and wonderful open space right in the heart of town.
This house was exactly what we were looking for with a fully equipped kitchen to have a lobster and fish feast, comfortable beds, great little patio to enjoy coffee in the morning, a parking spot for the jeep rental and a bike rack for the bikes. It's on a quiet lane and an easy walk to the ferry and town. We loved being out of the hustle and bustle to see the stars at night and listen to the birds in the morning. Very nice and communicative landlord (as well as talented artist--his work lines the walls) made the whole process so easy. We'd certainly come back to the cottage.
