Exquisite modern house filled with light, designer furniture, and books. The house was designed by Viennese-born Los Angeles architect, R. M. Schindler in the 1935 and is one of his largest houses. The house appears in many architecture books and guides and is centrally located in the Mid-Wilshire area, which is an urban family neighborhood of mostly Spanish-style houses, walking distance to museums, park, dozens of art galleries, and the famous Farmers' Market that dates from 1934. Also within 1/2 mile walk is a new center with shops, including bookstore, and movie theatres. Laundry is in a separate structure on the property, shared with the single tenant who lives in the apartment over the garages (part of the original Schindler design). House and apartment are completely separate from each other and private. Gardener and cleaning person provided.

We are a professional couple: an architectural historian/curator and a writer/psychotherapist. We live and work in Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
The Owner purchased this house in 1992
This house was our primary residence, purchased because it is an extraordinary house designed by the architect R. M. Schindler.
We enjoy the architecture of the house, which is quiet and serene with abundant natural light, our large library, the LA County Art Museum, and nearby galleries. We love to walk to the Farmers' Market to meet friends for coffee and buy fresh produce. Third Street and Beverly Blvd nearby have great restaurants and interesting design shops.
