Morrilton Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-8)

Our cabin was built on the northeastern bluff of Petit Jean Mountain and is 750 feet above the base. Two miles of farmland lie between our cabin and the Arkansas River, and a panoramic mountain rimmed view extends over farmland to the north for over 20 miles. Cloud formations are incredibly beautiful at times and the atmosphere on the bluff is aways comfortable and relaxing. At night the star viewing is amazing.

Our cabin is actually a 1400 square ft house with two levels. There are three covered porches; two of them overlook the valley to the north and one of those is screened in. All the rooms to the rear of the house open to their respective porches.

This is located in a quiet woodland setting near the middle of three acres on the bluff of the mountain.

Some nearby areas of interest are: Rockefeller Institute and River Rock Grill (PJ Mtn); Petit Jean State Park; Mount Nebo State Park (Dardanelle); Mt. Magazine State Park (Magazine); Water sports w/fishing and boating at Lake Dardanelle State Park (Russellville); Frisbee golf (two courses - Russellville); Weideker and other wineries (Altus); Hot Springs National Park (Hot Springs); Clinton Presidential Library (Little Rock); and of course the beautiful Buffalo National River.

No Smoking, No Pets rental.

We require reservations to be made at least two weeks prior to arrival and for at least two consecutive nights. See Rate Details below for more information.

About Ray and /or Kathy Allen

We have been married over 31 years and love to explore. Kathy is an experienced RN and Ray is retired from Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville, Arkansas. We are the proud parents of six children (two girls, four boys) and currently have one lovely granddaughter.

We're outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, camping, water skiing, wild caving, and bicycling.

We enjoy volunteering and helping people when the opportunities arise.

Ray and /or Kathy Allen purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Ray and /or Kathy Allen chose Morrilton

Property next to our cabin/house has been in our family for the past 50 years. This cabin was built around 1995 and recently became available to us. We purchased this cabin in lieu of building a separate structure.

What makes this cabin unique

I enjoy watching the slow designs the farm equipment makes as fields are cut on the farmlands far below us and listening to the far off calls of cattle lowing in the evening. Storm cells moving across the valley any time of day are captivating, and watching the occasional crop duster work the fields below is a real treat.

I also enjoy sitting on the back porch and watching for river boats pushing barges up and down the river. These boats light up the river at night as they slowly push their loads along.

I enjoy drifting off to sleep on the second story hammock on the back porch and feeling the breeze coming up the side of the mountain.

There are only a few cabins/houses built on the bluffs of this entire mountain top and I always enjoy the fact that this is one of them. There's adventure here, and I like that too.

Sisters Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay at Allen's Cabin. The view was wonderful. Two of the mornings when we looked at the view all we could see was some big fluffy clouds. We actually caught the sunrise one morning it was very beautiful. We took lots and lots of pictures.
We saw some of the sites in Petit Jean State Park and also did some hiking.
The cabin was very clean and well stocked. We loved the kitchen, while being small it still had everything we could possibly need for fixing our meals. They even had food items stocked if we needed them. The stove looked like an old antique stove.
We each had our own beds to sleep in. I slept in the lower bunk, I don't know if it was just me or not but it seemed to slope to the front of the bed which made me feel like I was sliding forward...the bed was still comfortable and I slept like a baby. It brought back childhood memories sharing bedrooms with a sister or two. Very enjoyable.
There was always something to do.
I would really love to see the flower gardens in the spring or early summer to see the flowers in bloom. I can only imagine how beautiful they would be while swinging on the two rope swings smelling the floral fragrances.
We started discussing the possibility of staying again for another one of our yearly Sisters Retreats. I would recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a nice peaceful place to stay.

Owner's Response: It is so special when sibling and families take time out of everyday routine to spend time together. We are glad when our cabin be that place.
We will definitely check out the lower bunk bed to ensure that it level. Thanks for letting us know about that. We respect and appreciate any feedback that we get from our amazing guests. We do our best to use feedback and ideas from others to keep making Allens' cabin better and better.

Restful Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We loved the cabin. This was a great place to unwind, sit on the porches to enjoy the spectacular views, and just relax. The cabin is cozy and provided a restful, tranquil retreat. The clouds on most mornings made us feel on top of the world. We caught the sunrise one morning....awesome! We loved being on Petit Jean Mountain, taking some of the trails, spending time out in the garden, and sometimes just doing nothing but sitting on the porch enjoying the views.

Just right

  • 5 of 5
Allen's Cabin was just right for everything we did in the Petit Jean area. We loved reading on the screened porches. It was fun to prepare and serve meals in the red and white kitchen. Who doesn't like to cook in new red pans? Proximity to the park gave easy access to hiking trails. The guest comments sent us on a successful search for a secret room. Clean, quiet, well appointed, and a fire pit to try on our next visit. Just right in every way.

Myself and five Army buds had a great time at this beautiful cabin! The weather didn't play well at all but we still had a fantastic time. I will definitely try to bring a group down here again!

A little piece of heaven - cabin on the mountain

  • 5 of 5
Me and some of my family decided to take a few days & visit Arkansas. I searched VRBO's & came across this awesome cabin. Upon arrival, we were not disappointed and it all got better from that point.

The cabin is spacious and the owners have done well in making one feel at home. From extra pillows, blankets, towels, a stocked kitchen, lap throws in the living room, to board games & movies.

I know there are neighbors, but while we stayed at the cabin, we felt we had the mountain to ourselves.

The outside living areas are wonderful. There are 4 porches (1 of which is completely screened in - awesome!

We enjoyed visiting Morrilton's antique auto museum & petit jean state park is a must see.

The owners are completing a beautiful fire pit area - although not complete at our visit - we took advantage of it both nights.

They owners respond to emails & calls & get high ratings from our group.

If you are planning a trip to the Petit Jean area, this is the place for you & your family!

This is the place

I am so glad that we choose to stay off sight while visiting Petit Jean, this cabin is an easy drive from the park, a short distance from the incredible Stout's point lookout, and offers its own unbelievable view of the Arkansas River valley. I was immediately checking the area to see what was for sale, I want that view! The cabin is perfect, well equipped, comfortable and homey. If you're coming to hike Petit jean, this is where you stay!
