ALLENS' CABIN - NESTLED ATOP BEAUTIFUL PETIT JEAN MOUNTAIN

Dardanelle Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-8)

Our cabin was built on the northeastern bluff of Petit Jean Mountain and is 750 feet above the base. Two miles of farmland lie between our cabin and the Arkansas River, and a panoramic mountain rimmed view extends over farmland to the north for over 20 miles. Cloud formations are incredibly beautiful at times and the atmosphere on the bluff is aways comfortable and relaxing. At night the star viewing is amazing.

Our cabin is actually a 1400 square ft house with two levels. There are three covered porches; two of them overlook the valley to the north and one of those is screened in. All the rooms to the rear of the house open to their respective porches.

This is located in a quiet woodland setting near the middle of three acres on the bluff of the mountain.

Some nearby areas of interest are: Rockefeller Institute and River Rock Grill (PJ Mtn); Petit Jean State Park; Mount Nebo State Park (Dardanelle); Mt. Magazine State Park (Magazine); Water sports w/fishing and boating at Lake Dardanelle State Park (Russellville); Frisbee golf (two courses - Russellville); Weideker and other wineries (Altus); Hot Springs National Park (Hot Springs); Clinton Presidential Library (Little Rock); and of course the beautiful Buffalo National River.

No Smoking, No Pets rental.

We require reservations to be made at least two weeks prior to arrival and for at least two consecutive nights. See Rate Details below for more information.

We have been married over 31 years and love to explore. Kathy is an experienced RN and Ray is retired from Arkansas Nuclear One in Russellville, Arkansas. We are the proud parents of six children (two girls, four boys) and currently have one lovely granddaughter.

We're outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy hiking, camping, water skiing, wild caving, and bicycling.

We enjoy volunteering and helping people when the opportunities arise.

Ray and /or Kathy Allen purchased this cabin in 2010

Property next to our cabin/house has been in our family for the past 50 years. This cabin was built around 1995 and recently became available to us. We purchased this cabin in lieu of building a separate structure.

I enjoy watching the slow designs the farm equipment makes as fields are cut on the farmlands far below us and listening to the far off calls of cattle lowing in the evening. Storm cells moving across the valley any time of day are captivating, and watching the occasional crop duster work the fields below is a real treat.

I also enjoy sitting on the back porch and watching for river boats pushing barges up and down the river. These boats light up the river at night as they slowly push their loads along.

I enjoy drifting off to sleep on the second story hammock on the back porch and feeling the breeze coming up the side of the mountain.

There are only a few cabins/houses built on the bluffs of this entire mountain top and I always enjoy the fact that this is one of them. There's adventure here, and I like that too.

Great Cabin!!

I've stayed in a lot of cabins in and around Petit Jean National Park, and I can confidently say that this is one of the best cabin experiences yet. The location feels remote and has an outstanding scenic view. The cabin itself was quite comfortable with many modern conveniences while still maintaining a rustic cabin feel. Additionally, the owners were very helpful and easy to work with. I will definitely be back for another visit to the Allens' Cabin!

Ambassador Girl Scout Troop Spring Break Trip

We stayed at Allen's Cabin for our Spring Break trip. We found it to be everything it is described to be and more. It is convenient to Petit Jean State Park, yet private. As a group of women, we felt very safe there. The view was wonderful, the interior calm and inviting. The new gas burning log stove was a special treat. Truly all you will need is your food. Everything else is provided. There is an extra dose of charm. We plan on returning for Troop reunions.

Owner's Response: We were pleased to have the cabin chosen as the location for the Ambassador Girl Scout Troop. We were able to visit with the leader prior to arrival to ensure the cabin had everything they fulfill their plans.

This cabin was a perfect get-away for our 30th Anniversary. The views were spectacular and the cabin was beautiful! We enjoyed several Petit Jean State Park trails and the museums. The kitchen was stocked with just what we needed to cook our own meals. It was very relaxing. Thank you Ray and Kathy!

Fantastic cabin for our girls getaway!

The Allen's Cabin was perfect! The cabin was the cleanest VRBO property I have ever stayed at (and I have stayed at 10+ properties around the world). Five friends gathered at the cabin for a girls weekend and it was wonderful. The Allen's pay attention to detail and comfort. The beds were very comfortable. The linen's were top quality. We had mentioned we were looking to have a massage therapist come to the cabin and they even knew someone to recommend, which was awesome! We didn't want to leave at the end of our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the positive review. We enjoy trying to exceed expectations. We have lived in the area for over 30 years, so we are often able to help our guests find what they are hoping for.

Perfect Holiday

Thank you Ray and Kathy,
Your cabin and your most thorough planning/preparation created the perfect gathering spot for our family. Petit Jean is convenient whether traveling from North Carolina or south Texas. Once here, your cabin has a unique blend of rural/remote yet easy to find and not far from attractions and conveniences.
The living area itself is a brilliant layout of private space but ideal for group visiting or eating as well. Multiple porch-decks cause a sensation that you are truly on top of the world !
Even on a cozy, rainy day, the twilight show was majestic. A huge rainbow over the rising mist from the river gave the whole valley a surreal effect.
Maybe that's the best summary for the whole weekend.... like being in a whole different world!!

Owner's Response: We are so glad you and your family had the opportunity to stay at our cabin last month. I am so glad you all were able to view some of the spectacular displays that happen over the river valley every now and then. You have a wonderful family!
