We lived in St Croix in the early 90's and loved it so much that we visited it often. We knew in our hearts that one day we would own a home there. We still live in New York and look forward to going there as often as possible. We love sharing our home with other people so they may enjoy the views and the ambiance of this beautiful island.
Melissa Hofstetter purchased this house in 2010
We choose to be out on the East End because it is so secluded and private.....We love taking the 15 minute ride to the Casino in one direction and Town, Cheesburger's and Green Cay in the other but mostley we love the clam peacefulness of the east end. We could sit all day and watch the boats, jetskier's and windsurfer go back and forth to Buck Island and the beautiful carribbean blue water. We have a few new restaurants in the area and Deli's five minutes again in either direction. We couldn't have picked a better location. It also is not so high in the mountains that I would be afraid to drive at night. Saftey is a big issue because we do come home late and the roads are narrow and when driving on the other side it's comforting to know we are fairly low and still have a magnificent view........
The privacy is incrediable even though there are no fences......We are located on a knoll that overlooks Buck Island and have only about 5 houses on the road. We have the pool located about 10 steps down from the main house and a patio to lounge on. We only have to go a few minutes to the beach in any direction we have Duggen's Restaurant, Blue Water Grill and Topsiders within minutes of the house. The gas station and deli's/convenience stores also within a few minutes of the house. It's perfect.....We also provide a brand new generator in case the electric should go down. All the conveniences of home with plenty of room to enjoy whatever you like to do.
Perhaps you can add this to the web site via this email. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in your home!

When you arrive at Whispering Palms you are immediately taken by the incredible colors of the Caribbean Sea and the tropical flowering gardens surrounding the house, terrace and pool.
Inside the dr is inviting and tasteful. The owners have thought of everything to make your visit
Words cannot describe how absolutely amazing this St. Croix vacation home is. If I could move there, I would in a heart beat. Breathtaking views, convenient but quiet location, and extremely spacious home. With upgrades being done every couple of months, it's hard to keep with all of the renovations. More than enough bedrooms, bathrooms, and activities, available at your fingertips. From swimming in the pool, to taking a ride to the shores or beach, to grabbing a wonderful brunch down the block. This Cotton Valley Carribean home is majestic and serene. Take me back<3
The house was wonderful..more than expected. After a number of stays on St Croix we had never stayed on the East end...noe would never stay anyywhwer else. The house was perfect for us. Plenty of room; well appointed with great view of Buck Island an several great rainbows! Great swimming pool. House well supplied and housekeeper Portiavery responsive. We'll be back!
We lost count of all the incredible rainbows and variations of blue in the Carribean - what views! We just spent 10 days at Whispering Palms and had a great experience. The property and pool are lovely (well maintained) and are surrounded by breathtaking Buck Island views. The house is "island" comfortable, well appointed and easy to settle in and feel secure. You can easily vacation with a group and have private sleeping/bath areas....or be a little indulgent as a couple, like we did! Situated well to local convenience and restaurants. Property managed well, attentive to guests needs.
The view is phenomenal, the pool is large and inviting, and the house is beautifully decorated. We spent some time exploring St Croix, but it was hard to leave Whispering Palms’ beauty and serenity!
This was the first time we had ever been to St. Croix. We arrived in early June and spent a about a week here. We had the best time. It was quite and had the privacy that we wanted. The view was amazing. We enjoyed waking up in the morning to the beautiful view of Buck Island and boats and ending with the beautiful sunset! On clear days we could actually see the outlines of the surrounding islands. The kitchen was great and washer and dryer was definitely a plus. Air conditioning was great as well. Spent most of the day outside, because the location of the place was very convenient to everything, so only there to sleep and with that being said, the bedrooms were great and spacious. We went to see the drunken pigs, walked around town (east and west), snorkeling, and just walking around the beaches. There were some great restaurants as well. I would definitely recommend this place and when we do come back, I will be looking to stay here!! I can't wait to come back!
We arrived to a bright, spacious home with a gorgeous view; the master bedroom has a slider to the outdoor deck which is cool and shaded much of the day - and it is wonderful to wake up and have coffee in bed and gaze out towards Buck Island. The bird life in the yard is entertaining (Little Blue Heron, Banaquits, and Gray King Bird) and the breezes are delightful. The kitchen has plenty of gear for cooking and entertaining with the large dining room area/table.
There is beach gear (3 chairs and PLENTY of beach towels, plus a cooler bag and a rolling cooler) for a picnic outing to one of the dozens of secluded beaches on the island. We loved Shoys, which is just down the road. The washer/dryer comes in handy for all those towels! The master bath was clean and the overhead fan and open shower window do a good job of drying things off in there.
There were just two of us in the house, but it could sleep several more -- though, the person in the back bedroom wouldn't get the lovely breezes like the front of the house gets.
The satellite TV worked great, and the internet was great for our smartphones to download to Facebook, and email folks back home!
