About Sandra and Michael Fisher

A big hello to our guests from Michael and Sandra. Here is a little info about the proud owners of Paradise on Daniels Pond, aka Terrapin Station. We both were born and raised in the beautiful country suburbs of Phila, Pa, Michael in Chester Springs and Sandra in Yardley, and we are both grads of Penn State. Go State! Although we did not know each other until 2003, when the wonderful internet then brought us together, Match.Com, yes it does work! While building Terrapin Station, we would stay at the enchanted Inn on the Common in the picturesque town of Craftsburry Common, VT. Here we became engaged and then off to the chapel on the Common to marry in 2006. We now reside in our Pa dream home, a restored farmhouse circa 1812, in the quaint town of Birchrunville, with our 2 goats Templeton and Archie, our 3 cats Curious, A.J. and Chi, and of course the kids-young adults, Alexander, Connor and Taylor. And yes Michael is a long time fan of the Grateful Dead and Sandra, the Rolling Stones.

.

Sandra and Michael Fisher purchased this house in 2006

Why Sandra and Michael Fisher chose Glover

Ahh, Vermont. The beauty of all that nature has to offer at its best! We both were fortunate to experience the wonders of Vermont in our earlier years. Michael's first entre to the Kingdom was in 1978, with one of several visits to the renown Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover. Wanting more of this beautiful state, Michael moved to Waitsfield from 1982 - 1985, working at Sugarbush, loving every moment. Sandra's first of many visits was in 1980 with her childhood friend who grew up spending summer and winter vacations at their lake house near Rutland. Skiing Killington, Okemo, Magic, bushwacking, water skiing, skating, hiking and loving it!. On to the year 2005 when we were ready to find our second dream home. We had Vermont in our hearts and knew that our desire to have serenity, beauty, privacy, the wonders of nature, and year round outdoor activities were all in this beautiful state. So we went for it and began the search and found our piece of paradise on the internet, and in Glover, where it all began! Yes, the internet has been good to us. At the time the property was a rough clearing with a foundation on 55 wooded acres, with an unbelieveable view of the water and mountains, and 1800 feet of shoreline, just absolutely beautiful. Feb of 2006 our dream home was ready. The first knock on our door were our pond neighbors Linda and Arthur, who welcomed us and offered their hospitality and to stop by anytime. This is what the people of the Kingdom are all about. In 2010 we were ready to offer our home to others to be able to enjoy this magical place. The Kingdom is One of the Most Beautiful Places in America. We are very thankful!

Guestbook comments from the owner

To put it in the words of my sister, "This is heaven on earth". We booked the house so that we could have some down time with my sister who was visiting from overseas. To begin with the entire booking process was simple and easy. spoke with Sandra on the phone & worked everything out. We received an information package from her that was invaluable with excellent suggestions. The home was very comfortable for the 8 of us. The views were priceless. Waking up in the morning with the sun caressing you through the big windows & having a cup of coffee on the veranda watching the mist over the water was wonderful. All of us from the young to the old had something to do. Our son & I fished the entire time. he even went out to fish in the rain! The Fishers generously provided many games to keep us entertained when it rained outside. We took the suggestions & tried a lot of the local restaurants. Parsons soon became our favoite. Chef Dave even gave me a recipe for making perch which came out excellent! The house was immaculate and decorated to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. Again in the words of my sister "What a memorable house & vacation!" Thank you for allowing us the use of your beautiful home and we look forward to being back soon.

Grand, Central, Terrapin Station !!

  • 5 of 5
What a wonderful, wintry weekend shared by (7) at the Terrapin station.
It all started with a request from my Dad to rent a beautiful home in Vermont and try snowmobiling.
I had experienced Glover, and the VAST trails before, so I knew this was the area to search.
Armed with VRBO, the hunt was easy, and finding this spectacular rental home on Daniel's pond, a victory !!
The minute you walk in and are greeted with a hand-written note, plus a welcome package, you know you are in good hands.
The home is spacious, beautifully decorated, ample storage space, loaded with activities, and just pure cozy!
The 3.5 bathrooms, especially the full bathroom in the basement is very convenient for your guests.
Access to the VAST trails is easiest over the pond, and take a left by the mobile homes.
Parker Pie is minutes away, and you simply must have the Dave's salad, Green Mountain Special pie, and wash it down with a few Hill Farmstead Edward's.. http://parkerpie.com/category/beer-on-tap
The homeowners, Sandra and Michael, were so welcoming and helpful with us in planning the trip, and even helping us with parking for trucks, trailers and snowmobiles.
I cannot say enough, but I will say, you must experience the magic of the Terrapin Station.
Everyone left feeling recharged, satisfied, and wanting to plan a return visit. That's a vacation ! :)
Thanks again, Sandra and Michael, and I hope to rally the troops once again soon. Stay well.

It was our second time at Terrapin Station. It is the best proof that the place is exellent. And this time it was even better. Great for skiing, fishing, enjoing the real winter days and spending warm evenings with family at the fire place. Looking for the next visit there.

We were ever so cozy

  • 5 of 5
We could not have chosen a better place for our family Christmas. The house is lovely, completely fitted out _ even for one of our daughters who is a chef. The three toddlers had a ball sledding and the far-less active grandparents kept warm by the fire. I highly recommend a stay at this lovely home.

Magical

  • 5 of 5
I've been remiss in not writing sooner but my memory of our stay is still strong. Your home was absolutely remarkable. And under your roof, six friends came together to celebrate the life of one dear friend who was fighting a difficult battle. In the five days that we were there, the house and its surroundings brought an immeasurable sense of peace, joy, love and laughter. It embraced us in warmth and beauty. And we felt immortal. We’ve lost our dear friend since then but we’re pretty sure as she closed her eyes she pictured smiles and a sparkly lake and autumn colors and a wraparound porch that bound our hearts together forever. Thank you Sandra and Michael for making your home ours. It was magical.

Paradise and Luxury

  • 5 of 5
This house and property is even better than pictured. The house is beautifully decorated and the grounds are gorgeous. We were looking for comfort and privacy and we got it. The beds are super comfortable and each room had a beautiful view. The kitchen was well stocked.
We have been renting houses for years and Terrapin Station was our best experience ever. We sat around the fire pit with a roaring fire each night in their great Adirondack chairs. We sat on the fabulous porch each morning enjoying the views. A person doesn't ever really have to leave the property. We took long walks and enjoyed the beauty of God's creation.
We stayed two glorious weeks and the Fall color was incredible.
Sandra was wonderful to deal with. We got an entire booklet mailed to us with all the house and property details, as well as suggestions for things to do. What an awesome experience!

Perfect family getaway

  • 5 of 5
This property is absolutely perfect for a peaceful family getaway. We were lucky enough to be there at the end of September when the leaves were changing colour every single day. By the time we left they were blazing red, so beautiful.

We took our 19-month-old toddler with us and Sandra and Mike very kindly provided a Pack n play as well as a high chair. The garden was just perfect for him to explore and he even enjoyed his first time canoeing.

He loved playing Spot the Loons on the Lake and listening out for the birdsong.

Terrapin is the perfect base from which to explore Vermont. We managed day trips to Burlington, Stowe, Newport and Derby. The information guide provided at the house was extremely useful.

Highly recommend Parker Pie company (sitting in the garden outside was a lot of fun) and The Parsons Corner for breakfast.

Jack absolutely loved looking at the giant moose in Curriers (Glover) and we found everyone to be so open and friendly. There is also a great playground behind Curriers for anyone visiting with young children.

A vacation with a toddler is never the most restful, but sitting on the deck by the lake and just taking in the beautiful scenery was enough to recharge the batteries.

Can't thank Sandra and Mike enough for being wonderful to correspond with and extremely efficient and helpful.

Owner's Response: How wonderful that you were here for the autumn colors, the beauty is just breathtaking right at Terrapin Station! Spotting the loons - love it, and moose - how special for the little one and the big ones! We are very lucky to have these magnificent birds right here and Currier's or as it is called "The Glover Mall". And of course Parker Pie and Parsons Corner, our favorites. Katie, Jordan and the little guy, we thank you so much for experiencing what we love so much up here in the Kingdom; beauty, peace, nature, beautiful towns, amazing food and the best heart warming people! We look forward to having a little bit of Canada back! Warmly, Sandra and Michael.
