A big hello to our guests from Michael and Sandra. Here is a little info about the proud owners of Paradise on Daniels Pond, aka Terrapin Station. We both were born and raised in the beautiful country suburbs of Phila, Pa, Michael in Chester Springs and Sandra in Yardley, and we are both grads of Penn State. Go State! Although we did not know each other until 2003, when the wonderful internet then brought us together, Match.Com, yes it does work! While building Terrapin Station, we would stay at the enchanted Inn on the Common in the picturesque town of Craftsburry Common, VT. Here we became engaged and then off to the chapel on the Common to marry in 2006. We now reside in our Pa dream home, a restored farmhouse circa 1812, in the quaint town of Birchrunville, with our 2 goats Templeton and Archie, our 3 cats Curious, A.J. and Chi, and of course the kids-young adults, Alexander, Connor and Taylor. And yes Michael is a long time fan of the Grateful Dead and Sandra, the Rolling Stones.

.

Sandra and Michael Fisher purchased this house in 2006

Ahh, Vermont. The beauty of all that nature has to offer at its best! We both were fortunate to experience the wonders of Vermont in our earlier years. Michael's first entre to the Kingdom was in 1978, with one of several visits to the renown Bread and Puppet Theater in Glover. Wanting more of this beautiful state, Michael moved to Waitsfield from 1982 - 1985, working at Sugarbush, loving every moment. Sandra's first of many visits was in 1980 with her childhood friend who grew up spending summer and winter vacations at their lake house near Rutland. Skiing Killington, Okemo, Magic, bushwacking, water skiing, skating, hiking and loving it!. On to the year 2005 when we were ready to find our second dream home. We had Vermont in our hearts and knew that our desire to have serenity, beauty, privacy, the wonders of nature, and year round outdoor activities were all in this beautiful state. So we went for it and began the search and found our piece of paradise on the internet, and in Glover, where it all began! Yes, the internet has been good to us. At the time the property was a rough clearing with a foundation on 55 wooded acres, with an unbelieveable view of the water and mountains, and 1800 feet of shoreline, just absolutely beautiful. Feb of 2006 our dream home was ready. The first knock on our door were our pond neighbors Linda and Arthur, who welcomed us and offered their hospitality and to stop by anytime. This is what the people of the Kingdom are all about. In 2010 we were ready to offer our home to others to be able to enjoy this magical place. The Kingdom is One of the Most Beautiful Places in America. We are very thankful!

Beautifully appointed, large family house

This home was the perfect place for a long ski weekend, comfortably accommodating two families with room to spare. The property was amazing, and the house itself had everything we needed, including wonderful linens as good as a five-star hotel. Our kids had the best time skating on the lake after their fathers graciously shoveled 3-feet of snow off it, and we enjoyed the jaunt over to the local pizza place one evening. We would love to come back and explore the area more again, any season of the year.
Owner's Response: How wonderful that you truly experienced Terrapin Stations Winter Wonderland! The beauty of the outdoors and the snugly warming comforts of the indoors! It brings such pleasure knowing our guests are enjoying what makes this place so special. We welcome you back to add to your memories. With Warm Regards, Sandra and Michael

The White Christmas We Hoped For

Terrapin Station was a great choice for us. We wanted a white Christmas and got it. Really enjoyed sitting around the fireplace with the family every night. The owners had a useful info booklet about the house and the surrounding attractions and were responsive to our inquiries. They were friendly and very easy to deal with.

The house was impeccably equipped and maintained. Several ski areas within an hour or so. We even enjoyed our one horse open sleigh ride in Stowe. Check out the quirky little self-service Museum of Everyday Life (5-10 min. will do it) on a nearby roadside and the apple cider and pizza at the Parker Pie Co. This place is a bit remote and I would recommend all wheel drive vehicles in the winter.

We wouldn't hesitate to highly recommend this place to a friend or relative.
Owner's Response: Christmas in Vermont, how special that you really enjoyed the beauty of this special haven! Family, fireplace, skiing, sleigh ride, Parker Pie,quirky museum, ahh Vermont! And we will not forget the 4 wheel vehicle as we will add this great suggestion to our guest booklet. Thank you for enjoying Terrapin Station, for your wonderful words and for hosting future friends! Warmly, Sandra and Michael.

A treat....

This was the perfect getaway for my husband and me. The house is beautiful and welcoming with lots of natural light. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked. We breakfasted on the wrap around porch, ate lunch in the adriondack chairs, dined by candlelight at dinner, and relaxed by a crackling fire every evening. The generous supply of wood in the garage kept us extra toasty.

We took full advantage of the lovely canoe several times a day, and my husband caught three dozen fish during our stay. The lake takes about one very leisurely hour to paddle around the perimeter, and is quite beautiful at both sunrise and sunset. While there are houses surrounding the lake, they are well spaced so the lake still retains an open, private feel. The woods around the house were fun to romp in as well.

Currier's provided us with delicious meat to grill for dinner, thick, hand cut bacon and blueberry pancake mix for breakfast, and the wonderful welcome bag we got upon arrival to the house provided coffee and maple syrup among other treats to top things off. We stopped by Pete's Greens, an honor system farmer's market stand, and stocked up on fresh, organic veggies, eggs and a few other nice supplies. I would highly recommend this as the fruit/veggie selection is a bit more well rounded than Currier's. We also enjoyed the honor system antique store a block up from Currier's, Red Sky Trading Co....they also sell home made baked goods including donuts, lemon bars, cream puffs and cake, fresh bread on Friday, local cheese and hot coffee. It was fun, and a nice way to round out grocery shopping. We ate at Claire's in Hardwick, and thought it worth the drive if you don't want to cook for yourself. We also ate at Hen of the Wood, and it was a very nice dining experience. If you are a foodie, it would be worth the drive.

We took some lovely scenic drives around the North East Kingdom to see the fall foliage and enjoyed the small towns we drove through, and the genuine helpfulness of everyone we met. Unless you are staying at the house for several days, I would skip a trip up to Canada and enjoy where you're at. :)

Sandra was a delight to deal with, and was very helpful and responsive. We hope to return, and maybe bring a few friends with us to enjoy this delightful getaway.
Owner's Response: And what a treat it was to be able to have you to enjoy this unbelievable special place! It gives up such joy for our guests to really get it all. We could not have done it any better ourselves! Thank you so much for being here and being Vermont!
Warmly, Sandra and Michael.

Idyllic getaway!

Idyllic! To our family, that word describes Terrapin Station and our week-long vacation there. The vibes were great from the moment we spoke to Sandra. She was so warm and welcoming, and that vibe was exuded in the beautiful home that she and Michael built. From the moment we excitedly unlocked the door and saw the welcoming gift to the time we sadly closed the garage to leave, we were close to heaven. We didn't venture out much. Sure we enjoyed some of the local sights and attractions, but there was little need or desire to leave Terrapin Station. Whether lounging in the ever so comfortable house and playing board games or ping pong on rainy days, or taking an early morning breakfast on the gorgeous wrap-around porch with great views, or playing ball on the expansive yard and enjoying the waterfront, or hiking around the property and down the surrounding dirt roads, we relaxed. We grilled fresh chicken and vegetables from local farm stands, cuddled by the roaring fire pit at night, and gazed at a billion stars. We relaxed, unwound, noticed the quiet - there is such a thing! - punctuated by the soulful call of a loon or the sound of a truck lumbering along the dirt road in the distance. We laughed, we napped. In other words, we had a vacation. It was idyllic. The particulars: the pictures exactly represent the house and property. It is a large house for 4 people. Just like home, we could be together or easily find a quiet, alone spot when needed. Furnishings are first rate and comfortable, and the beds were so soft and inviting. The owners were just wonderful and checked in once to see if all was well and if we needed anything. We had only driven through VT once before and never to the Northeast Kingdom, but we are certain that if our travels take us that way again, our first call will be to Sandra and Michael and Terrapin Station. Thanks!
Owner's Response: Dear Emily,

I want to share with you how special it is to us, to have our guests feel and experience the true meaning of Terrapin Station. I read your review to Michael while we were sitting around our fire here in PA, I glanced over at Michael and he had tears in his eyes! Your heartfelt review touched us deeply. We are so grateful to be able to have such a wonderful home and share it with you!
We welcome that call! Thank you!!! With Warm Regards, Sandra and Michael.
