Guestbook comments from the owner

We just wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed the cabin over Christmas. It truely is a Story book cabin. We loved all the wood and country french decorating. It is in a perfect location, close to the slopes and restaurants. The kids had a great time in the snow outside and we really enjoyed the fireplace. We prepared 2 meals a day in the kitchen that had everything we needed. We are hoping to return within the next month. I will contact you for our next stay as soon as I know the dates.

Rest & Relax At This Great Getaway

  • 4 of 5

What a great place for our 4th of July getaway !

Our family of six, (plus a little dog) totally enjoyed the Wonderland cabin. The bedrooms were very spacious and the beds were really comfy, so getting a good night's sleep was as easy as counting to 10...but only making it to 7 ?

We appreciated having a well stocked kitchen full of all kinds of supplies. All we had to do was bring our food and drink , then sit down at the picnic table while we barbecued our chicken, sausage, or

steaks on the charcoal grill. Stressful? Not in the least !

Only 3 minutes away from the cabin was the bay where we rented bikes and kayaks, and only 10 minutes away were the mountain trails that led up into some beautiful high country.

Just one word of caution...the stairs going to the 2nd floor are a bit steep, so make sure to hold on to the handrail.

Overall.....spending time at the Wonderland cabin made for some wonderful "family time". We hope others will enjoy it as much as we did. We hope to return again soon.

Kudos to the owners !!

Love love loved it!

My best friend and I took our kids for the weekend for some snowboarding and relaxing jan 9-11, and we are so so pleased with this cabin! It had everything we could want and more. Roomy, comfy, and easy to get to. The neighborhood was safe and quiet. Also, the cabin was so CLEAN! No funny smells or dusty areas. Truly it was perfect in every way and we can't wait to go back. IF you are looking to rent in big bear this is the place to do it. For those heading to the slopes this property is about 10min from snow summit. WONDERFUL TIME! Thanks Denise!

Great Cabin Will Be Returning

  • 5 of 5

This is a gem of a cabin, my three kids, my husband and myself, had a great vacation here, it is just as the pictures look, it was very clean and well kept we were lucky enough to be here for the winter storm that blew through for New Years 2015, the house was really warm inviting, and had all the essentials, down to a crock pot. We felt like we were home. We are definitely coming back if we don't make the winter we will be back for summer. I am passing the information to my family and friends.

Won't stay here again. Bad experience.

Owner didn't tell us we had to bring our own sheets and towels until after we paid through PayPal. We would have booked somewhere else if we had known. One king bed was very nice. The other had a bunk bed over it that was so low the couple kept hitting their heads because there was not enough room to sit up. We had the double bed downstairs. Mattress was comfortable, but the springs were terrible. They squeaked loudly every time we moved, so we didn't get much sleep. It was a rainy weekend with a 2 year old and the TV was out for 2 days. After contacting the owner, we dealt with the cable company with her permission and stuck around for the 4 hour window on Sunday morning for the repairman to come out and adjust the device on the roof. When I let the owner know it was fixed and asked for a minor reduction on our rental, she complained about our assistance. Finally she said she would refund $25. for our trouble, but never did.

Owner's Response: I am very sorry that you did not have a good time on your vacation at my cabin. I know that during your stay there were thunder storms with a lot of hail and winds for several days. For some people rainy weather doesn’t make the ideal vacation. Prior to your visit I had a new satellite installation of Dish Network. My son stayed at the cabin the day before you arrived and it was working fine. The remote control on Dish Network is not very user friendly. You had problems getting reception and without my permission called Dish Network and set up an appointment for them to come up and service the device. I didn’t think it was right of Dish Network to allow you to access my account, but that is their policy. I spoke to the technician after the appointment and he said you had changed the channel on the TV so that it would not work and the huge storm had slightly moved the dish. He stated that you said you wanted me to refund you. After the repair you called me and tried to extort money from me, even though you stayed all 3 nights. Because of your experience I decided to switch after a new 2 week Dish installation to Direct TV as it is more people friendly with a $420 earily cancellation fee. I had several other rentals before Direct could be installed and I warned them not to change the channel on the TV or they will not have any TV until it can be adjusted. The most common response I got was “they were not going to Big Bear to watch TV, there are a lot of other things to do”. I made the change to Direct asap and have had no problems. On the front page of my VRBO/Homeaway listing right under the picture and in the description it states that the renter is required to bring their own sheets and towels. I guess you did not read the entire write up. I always also include the information again after payment in the rental information to make sure you are aware. As far as the king bunk bed, the height is very standard and I have never had any complaint about it. The bed in the downstairs bedroom along with almost all the beds in the house are 2 years old. I am not sure what you did to make the box springs squeak. When you rented the cabin you stated that there would be 6 adults and no children. After reading your review I find that there was a 2 year old, I don’t understand. You are welcome to return and stay in our cabin anytime. I know you will not have the TV problem again and I hope the weather will be more to your liking.
