Rest & Relax At This Great Getaway

Rest & Relax At This Great Getaway

What a great place for our 4th of July getaway !
Our family of six, (plus a little dog) totally enjoyed the Wonderland cabin. The bedrooms were very spacious and the beds were really comfy, so getting a good night's sleep was as easy as counting to 10...but only making it to 7 ?
We appreciated having a well stocked kitchen full of all kinds of supplies. All we had to do was bring our food and drink , then sit down at the picnic table while we barbecued our chicken, sausage, or
steaks on the charcoal grill. Stressful? Not in the least !
Only 3 minutes away from the cabin was the bay where we rented bikes and kayaks, and only 10 minutes away were the mountain trails that led up into some beautiful high country.

Just one word of caution...the stairs going to the 2nd floor are a bit steep, so make sure to hold on to the handrail.

Overall.....spending time at the Wonderland cabin made for some wonderful "family time". We hope others will enjoy it as much as we did. We hope to return again soon.
Kudos to the owners !!

I don't often write reviews but we had a wonderful family vacation thanks in part to this cozy homestead house. For being such a small cabin there is plenty of space both inand out of the cabin to stretch your legs. The sleeping arrangements were really nice and roomy. My kids locked the king size bed I their room. The blankets were clean and everything was in excellent working order. I would recommend this cabin to friends and family and we are already planning our return trip.

Our memorable trip to Big Bear

Our Trip to Big Bear Lake

Dec 7-8-9, 2012 we stayed at this cabin for the weekend and enjoyed ourselves very much. We had breakfast each morning and did not want for anything in the kitchen. I took the boys fishing at the dam and caught several nice size trout. When we drove around the lake we found a better than nice restaurant in Fawnskin . The food was great and service outstanding. Its name is North Shore Restaurant. Each evening I built a fire in the fireplace and enjoyed the comfy and cozy cabin.

We all slept great as the beds were clean and nice. From the master bed room when we woke in the morning there is a view of pine trees which we enjoyed. We will be staying here each time we come to big Bear.

We have already booked our next trip!

Cute but rustic retreat

My family rented this property for two nights over the Thanksgiving holiday. The pros are that the cabin is charming and rustic with a nice layout. There are two bedrooms upstairs-the master bedroom and the "blue" bedroom (which really is only suitable for kids), and a small bedroom downstairs. The fact that we had to bring our own linens (including handtowels and dishtowels) seemed a bit odd but it wasn't too much of a problem. Unfortunetly, the comforters provided seemed quite old and weren't as fresh as we had hoped. There also isn't access to a washing machine-which would have been nice to be able to toss the comforters in for a quick wash before using-or to wash used towels, etc. The pots and pans, etc in the kitchen were also quite worn. The location is decent but there isn't any access to the bay or water within walking distance. We had to drive to be able to really see the bay/lake close up. There is an older model TV downstairs and a very small flat screen in the master bedroom. The owner was nice and tried to assist us with fixing the DVD player which we had trouble with. We ended up staying only one night because we didn't sleep comfortably. Overall, it was an average cabin for the price.
Owner's Response: We rented our Mountain Cabin to 2 women and their small child over the Thanksgiving Holiday. The cabin is as the photos show. The photos are less than 1 year old. I am not sure why they complained about the comforters, they were all washed October 2012 at the laundry mat in Big Bear. We wash the comforters twice a year. They are too large to put in a home washer/dryer. Five star hotels do not wash the blankets between occupancy. The beds in the cabin are less than 1 year old. The cabin is advertised without a washer/dryer.

The girls never had any intention of cooking; they just went out to the restaurants. They said it wasn’t worth the time to cook. If they had cooked they would have found out that the pots and pans and everything provided would have been just what they needed. We have cooked Thanksgiving dinners for 14 people without a problem.

There are more adults that stay in the “Blue Room” than children. The cabin is a 5-10 minute walk to the lake. It is located between Pleasure Point and Boulder Bay. Pleasure Point is a little closer about 3 blocks, maybe they didn’t know that.

I had constant text messages and phone calls from them, from the time they arrived. They could not work the DVD player. I had the cleaning girl check it after they left and it did work. They also did not know how to turn up the heat, I am not sure why because it is the most simple thermostat that you can buy.

If you are looking for 5 star accommodations you need to stay in a hotel not a Mountain Cabin.

Our family stayed from 2/25-2/28 and loved it! We got 4 feet of snow and were snowed in for a day! Great fun and fabulous cabin. The cabin has everything you need and the location is perfect. We're already planning our next trip. Thanks Denise for everything.
