You will love this cabin unless you don't love the following: Warm and friendly people, a cabin that is an architectural masterpiece and proximity to the most beautiful county in the continental U.S. For you city dwellers who don't like to get wet or dirty, there are endless no-blisters tourist treasures from Glacier National Park to a few fine dining opportunities. You can see amazing things without ever leaving pagement. For those of us who came here for the best of what Montana truly has to offer, you are within walking distance of National Park backcountry trails. the Great Bear Wilderness and the Wild and Scenic Middle Fork of the Flathead River. The owners, Gary and Theresa are unforgettable folks who obviously live here because this is where they want to be. Spend some time with them here and they may infect you with their warmth and their enthusiasm for this last best place.
This cabin’s spectacular nature is only matched by the surrounding beauty of the mountains. My wife and I stayed here with our two daughters recently, and we were completely sad to have to say goodbye and head back home. The cabin is supremely private, well-constructed and has every comfort any person could ask for in a home away from home.
The location is perfectly situated between East and West Glacier, which makes day trips into either region an absolute breeze. There are plenty of nearby quaint shops to pick up snacks or catch a quick bite to eat. The sound of the stream running behind the cabin is so relaxing, and the views are absolutely amazing.
Sahm and Robert were fantastic, and their recommendations were spot on. THANK YOU!
We had so many great adventures each day with hiking, horseback riding, visiting the lodges and so on, but we always were excited to get back to the cabin and enjoy some quality family time in the warmth of the fire and the rustic cabin setting. The cabin itself is much larger than what a person may think by looking at the pictures. I can’t imagine anyone being disappointed with the elbow room.
We are already looking at our next Glacier vacation, and we will be sure to stay here again in the near future.
Thanks again Sahm and Robert!!!!
This cabin in the woods, just a few miles west of the continental divide, was the perfect base camp location to explore Glacier. The home accommodated our family of four very well and lived larger than it appeared in photographs. Our daughters shared the large loft that overlooks the forest. This is a very private home that is secluded. The cabin offered most everything we needed, the large porch host a nice propane grill & dining table. Behind that was a fire pit and small stream at the rear of the property. The W&D was great, however, it was fun for the kids to dry our clothes on the provided clothes lines. It was good for our daughters to be without internet and cell service. We spent several late afternoons playing cards and working puzzles under the shadow of the surrounding mountains - perfect! Sahm and Robert, the owners, were responsive to our questions and helpful in their answers. We are strong supporters of VRBO; we rent out our own emerald coast beach home via VRBO 565955. We love going to the mountains every summer to cool off and explore. When we do, we always use VRBO and rent directly from owners whenever possible for the best service and experience. This years experience was no different - thank you Sahm and Robert for making your Montana home available to us in 2014.
My husband and I stayed in this cabin for our belated honeymoon in the spring of this year. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! I cannot stress that enough! This was the first time that we had been to Glacier National Park, and we both fell in love with the area. Around every corner there is a different majestic view and so much to see! The cabin was very cozy and clean, and had everything we needed for our stay and more -- it is stocked with all of the pots and pans you need for cooking, even spices and condiments. Laundry detergent, towels, T.P., etc. and really everything you will need is provided. The first morning of our stay, we were lucky enough to see a momma grizzly bear and her cub walk right by the cabin and on up into the woods! A few days later, we spotted them again a little further away after we had grilled and were eating dinner on the back porch. I thought that the location of the cabin was perfect; it is far enough away from crowds, but it didn't take very long to get to the East entrance or the Two Medicine entrance of GNP. Sahm was very nice and helpful and easy to work with, and answered all of my silly questions:) I highly recommend this cabin if you are thinking about a vacation to GNP! We would definitely stay there again if we ever get a chance to go back.
The cabin was better than pictured and a true gem of seclusion in the heart of georgous scenery. About half way between West Glacier ans St Mary (the ends of Going to the Sun Rd), there was no part of the park that was too far for a day trip. Sahm was very helpful in suggesting logistics of arrival & shopping that saved us a lot in time & money compared to the stores in the park. The cabin was spotless and well stocked, and we felt we had all the comforts of home. The cell phone booster could have helped us get a signal out in an emergency, but it was a delight not being constantly ties to the office by incoming calls.
There is a great gift shop in East Glacier, named the Old Goat, I think, that has better souveniers than many of the shops in the park. And don't miss the amazing sculptures of two Indians on horseback just as you enter Blackfeet Country on Rt. 2.
This was just the place out family needed for this trip. Thanks Sahm & Jan
