Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had a great, relaxing time in rhis beautiful setting. There are good hiking trails nearby in the Jefferson National Forest, and our golden retriever mix loved, loved, loved Craig's Creek and the opportunity to roam free of a leash. We also enjoyed all the comforts of home! We want to come back in warmer weather to try the kayaks and tubes.

Our Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

It will be hard to make this brief. Mitch and Bobbie genuinely love people and they love this cabin. That is reflected in your experience here. The homemade box of cookies upon arrival was such a treat and the cabin was spotless and decorated beautifully. We had everything we needed so it was very much like being at home. I even cooked 3 meals while I was there (2 from scratch) and had every size of cookware, dish and utensil that I might need. Our favorite place in the house is the Dining/Sleeping Porch (including my 173 lb Mastiff who couldn't get enough of the view). We ate all our meals there and I'll never forget eating lunch while watching a deer drink from the creek. The little trails around the property are just perfect for short walks with the dog. Oh and they have a Cornhole set in the yard. That was a pleasant surprise for us since we love that game. If you stay here DO NOT miss out on hiking the "Roaring Run Furnace trail" just a short drive away. It was better and prettier than anything we could have paid to do. I recommend taking the "Streamside" trail to the waterfall and the "Woodland" trail on the way back. Our photos from that trail walk are just magical, especially with all of the brightly fall colored leaves. Mitch and Bobbie, thank you so much for letting us and our ginormous dog stay in your beautiful cabin and for being so informative and helpful. God bless!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I booked this weekend for a much needed getaway from the hustle of life in Richmond. We couldn't have asked for a more serene location and atmosphere than Cottage on Craig, and with Mitch and Bobbie providing the perfect space and all the tools necessary we had to have a perfect weekend. We would absolutely recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a getaway or relaxation and enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, watching nature, or roasting the perfect marshmallow. My wife and I will surely be returning in the future.

Perfect Anniversary Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Perfect hosts, warm, welcoming and informative. The cottage was wonderfully decorated and had everything we needed plus some! Bobbie's chocolate cookies were delicious and plentiful. Mitch showed us how to build a fire outside and they even provided s'more ingredients. The creek is exactly as described and beautiful. The sleeping porch made this experience extra special. Highly recommended and we hope to return soon.

over 3000 miles to paradise

  • 5 of 5

My husband said our week at your cottage was the best holiday ever!!!!! From the "homely" feel of the cottage to the wildlife on your doorstep, we couldn't wish for anything more! Everything you needed for a relaxing time was provided (even a whistling kettle) and homemade cookies to die for.

Anyone from the UK thinking of visiting Virginia, look no further than this cottage. It is ideally situated near to the Blue Ridge Parkway and other local attractions, but also provides enough amenities to keep you entertained, without leaving the cottage. My own highlights were "tubing" down the creek watching kingfishers, and washing dishes, while catching a glimpse of Deer from the window.

You cannot beat sitting outside round the fire, looking up at the stars, planning tomorrow's adventure. Mitch and Bobbie provided very helpful information within the cottage, which was a great bonus to us, to help plan our " adventures" in the area.

Thanks for letting us share your little piece of paradise.

Kind regards from Steve & Penny from Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.

Owner's Response: We are glad you and your family had such a great weekend! Come back soon. We were concerned about the 4 star rating and were relieved that you accidentally hit the wrong amount of stars on your phone and meant for it to be 5 stars.Thank you for asking Customer Support to change it. We want for our guests to be completely satisfied. Thank you!
