In Carmel Valley, just past the famous Bernardus Spa and vineyard, this luxurious, fully equipped guest house is an ideal choice for a romantic getaway or a longer stay for one of the of the Monterey Peninsula's great events. These include the AT&T Golf Tournament, the US Open, races at Laguna Seca, The Monterey Jazz Festival, the Concours D'Elegance, the Big Sur Marathon and many others. Whether a major event is happening or not, the Peninsula offers unparalleled natural beauty and a wide variety of activities. Enjoy golf, wine tasting, hiking, shopping, bicycling and some of the best restaurants in California.

The property is ideally situated to reach all these events and activities in a matter of minutes. Closest is Carmel Valley Village, home to several fine restaurants and more than a dozen wine tasting rooms. Beyond the village are the vineyards themselves. To the west are golf courses (Carmel Valley Ranch, Quail Lodge, Tehama, The Preserve, Rancho Canada, Laguna Seca, Pebble Beach, Spyglass, Spanish Bay and others) and the shopping areas of the Barnyard, Crossroads, Carmel-By-The-Sea and both Monterey and Pacific Grove.

The guest house is a separate structure with private entrance. It is fully equipped for short or long stays, including cooking facilities and entertainment centered around a 47" flat-screen TV equipped with both cable and satellite reception. A luxurious, marble bathroom includes both shower and soaking tub, with a heated floor. A king size bed, robes, reading chair and work desk finish the apartment. WiFi internet connection is included at no additional charge.

Why The Owner chose Carmel Valley

The 5 Phelps guest house is a 20 minute drive from the Monterey Peninsula airport. Just off Carmel Valley Road, it is exactly 10 miles from the intersection of Carmel Valley Road with California Highway 1. From the airport, however, the best approach is to drive east on California Highway 68 to Laureles Grade, turn right and go over the grade, which ends at Carmel Valley Road.

I thoroughly enjoyed my first stay at this extremely well-appointed and spacious one-bedroom apartment. I found the location to be perfect for day trips to Carmel and Monterrey. The owners could not have been nicer and saw to our every need. I really appreciated the beautiful design of the completely remodeled space including a modern kitchen. The fabulous bathroom was a highlight with a dramatic shower and soaking tub. The only downside was that an enormous deck and hot tub are under construction and weren't ready for this visit. I understand they will be done in a few weeks. I look forward to going back!

A wonderful place for honeymooners and everybody else who loves to relax

We were the third people to profit from this competely new and very luxiourus renovated appartment. It was like a dream. The last 5 days from our honeymoon we enjoyed there. The hosts were enormous generous with us. We could use even their own swimmingpool, had barbeque with them and just a great time. THANKS A LOT! we can highly recommend this place. The place is also accecible by bike or public transport. We had no car just our bikes with us.

I travel quite a bit and I am always looking for a quiet and comfortable place to stay. I heard about this place from a friend and decided to give it a try. It was even better than I had hoped; the owners have gone to great lengths to ensure that their guests feel comfortable and pampered, and the setting is unbeatable – the pictures on VRBO really don't do it justice. It is the best place I have stayed in the Carmel area. I would highly recommend this property to any couple seeking a romantic retreat or just want a fantastic get away.
