Overview

Nelson Apartment Rental Photos and Description

Suite at 808 Fourth Street, 1 Bedroom + Den, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2-4)

The Garden Suite was built in the basement of our 1928 heritage home. It was renovated for our daughter and granddaughter who lived there for two years.

The Garden Suite is airy and bright with windows in every room. It has a separate entrance that takes you through a spacious vestibule with lots of room for coats, skis, bikes, etc. The main room is a well-appointed kitchen and dining room with a wide window that looks across to Pulpit Rock, a local hiking favourite. The den is south/west facing and was originally a child’s bedroom. It is the brightest room and includes a television and DVD, and a small lending library for avid readers. The sofa bed is queen size and very comfortable. The bathroom has a heated tile floor; it is fairly small and includes a toilet, vanity sink and shower. Finally the bedroom has a very comfortable queen-size bed and a closet. The floors are engineered wood (except for the bathroom which is heated tile, and the vestibule, which is cement). There is a shared laundry area that can be made available on request.

Guests are welcome to use the lovely side garden for barbecues or just to sit in the shade of our dogwood tree. You can also use the children's area but we do request advance notice as this is a shared area.

From our location, you can walk to the beach, downtown, or to the rail to trail. We also have bus service one short block away. Whether you are visiting with family nearby or enjoying one of the many outdoor sports or local cultural events, the Garden Suite at The Hive will provide a comfortable, clean, well-equipped and accessible home away from home during your stay in Nelson.

We are a 25 minute drive to Whitewater ski hill, 40 minutes away to Castlegar Airport, a four-hour drive to Kelowna airport or Spokane airport (Washington State).

Keywords: Separate entrance,, fully-equipped kitchen, lovely walking area, close to trails, Whitewater Ski Resort, walk to beach, biking trails, rail to trail, walk to town, off road parking

About Dorita and Andrew

We are Andrew and Dorita, boomers with an empty nest! We have lived in Nelson for close to twenty years , having resided in Victoria, Toronto and Montreal (Morin-Heights) after our arrivals here from the Netherlands and the UK. We are both still working, with Andrew coordinating a social service cooperative while Dorita teaches at a Waldorf school. We both enjoy travelling, outdoor sports like hiking, biking and skiing, as well as a regular game of Scrabble or “Oh Pshaw”. We enjoy having guests and appreciate hearing stories from our visitors, That being said, we have a high regard for personal space and are happy to provide a quiet, private accommodation for you and your companion(s).

Dorita and Andrew purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Dorita and Andrew chose Nelson

Our home and vacation rental are located on a quiet, sunny street in a unique town in the middle of the Selkirk range along the banks of Kootenay Lake, an eighty kilometer-long lake. We have year-round access to some of the best recreational activities imaginable (as listed) and the town of Nelson is well-known for its cultural richness and the diversity of its residents.

What makes this apartment unique

We live in a quiet residential area located within minutes walk of beautiful hiking trails and breath-taking views of Kokanee Glacier and Kootenay Lake. We enjoy hiking, biking and swimming during the dry, warm summers as well as the incredibly deep snow of winter skiing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you both for your warm hospitality. We had a great stay in your home in Nelson and hope to return again soon. All the best.

Great experience at "The Hive"

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for 5 days . The suite was very quiet ,both bed and fold down couch were very comfortable. The suite was spotless and very well appointed .The heated tile floor in the bathroom was appreciated first thing in the morning.

Communication was handled very efficiently .

If we are back in Nelson this will be our first choice in accommodation .

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed many times at this Garden Suite. Clean, quiet, close to town, the lake and groceries and in a lovely neighbourhood. Dorita and Andrew are wonderful hosts. A great place to enjoy the beauties of the Nelson area and Nelson itself is easily accessible from the suite if you do not have a car.
